Just a guy who loves comics. But I’m a sucker for DCU logo variants, Bronze Age Marvel and all things Jack Kirby. Isn’t everybody?

I Love Superman comic books!💙💙💙💙
Hello Sir! It is a pleasure for me to write to you. My name is Santiago and I am from Argentina. I have also been a big fan of comics since my teenage years (I am 40 years old now) and have always collected everything related to the death, funeral, and return of Superman. Today I can say that I am your fan too! Because although I have always been a great collector of this DC arc and everything related to it (any appearance of Doomsday, all the omnibus and TPB variants, publications of the death of Superman published in Brazil, Chile and of course Mexico and Argentina), after watching your videos I decided to embark on completing all the variants of all the issues. I already have a large percentage of them, missing only about 30 newsstands that unfortunately are not available at all in Argentina, and bringing them from abroad is not easy. You are truly amazing and I watch all your videos. I have been fortunate enough to travel to your beautiful country 5 times in my life, and on my last visits, I returned with suitcases full of comics. What a pleasure! In April, I am planning a new trip to your country, and I already want to complete my collection (of the arc I mentioned to you, then I collect thousands of more comics, but my goal is that Superman arc). I was thinking of traveling to Denver, CO to visit Milehighcomics, for example, although I would like to have everything purchased from eBay and receive it at the hotel upon arrival. Now! I don't want to bore you any longer and wanted to ask you where you recommend traveling within the USA as a lover of what we love so much; is there any place better than another for finding this material? I thank you for all the material you upload, you are phenomenal!! You have inspired me and I wish you the best. Everyone should watch your channel. You are incredible! I hope you can respond, this is the first message I've written on TH-cam in history, but I know this one is worth it. All the best to you and your family!! Best regards,
@@SantiagoBarbin Hello! What a nice message! I’m touched. You should be able to find those newsstand editions without too much trouble. Any major city has a ton of comic book shops you could most likely find them. Chicago would be my first choice. Thank you so much for the kind words and good luck!
Is the 1st print 13:47 or the 4th print 16:00 any more valuable than the other? I know everyone on Earth has all of these, but I was just curious. My sweet Grandmother bought me and my cousins so many of these Superman comics around that time, thinking they'd be worth money later. I was more of a X-Men and Spider-Man kid, so I kind of took bad care of my gifted DC comics.
@@DeathAdder9000 The first print newsstand is the more valuable one of the two. Your Grandmother sounds very cool.
Great grabs all around. I've never found a double cover or a Mark's Jewelers, but both in one book? Nice. Really digging that Shazam cover.
@@calebleland8390 I got very lucky.
I used to have a few double covers . I even got McFarland to sign my double cover of Amazing Spider-man # 312 .
@@brademerick9181 Nice!!
I love those cons with just vendors and collectors. Definitely find the better stuff at those. Nice pick ups!
@@TheIncredibleCJ I love those shows! Cosplay and all that stuff is fine, but I’m rolling in for the comics.
Those 1.25 books were.soldout at all local shops only found 5 books.
@@arthurtripp6922 I hear ya! I had to hit a ton of stores until I found any.
Half Price Books' comic prices are all over the place. They have no idea, generally, which comics should be in their locked cases at higher prices. In any case, it's always a great place to hunt for comics.
@@buraddorun3043 It’s so random! I love hunting there.
When I was 8 years old, my mom refused to let me buy a certain comic due to the three shapely ladies that were on the front cover. And it would be almost 30 years before I would finally buy it for myself… that’s right, it was Batman Adventures 12!
Sad!
never heard /seen a MJ double cover .. whoa gotta be over $100 easy
@@RobertWeir you think? That would be awesome.
I think you need to change your TH-cam channel name to Comics on the Cheap! Your comic luck is Awesome! Yes please be back soon! Definitely a fan!
Thanks so much! I like the name idea. 🤔
Cool pickups Schoon! That bagged Superman is a new one to me. I think you will like the Byrne Doomsday +1… very early work but it showed his talent. Love the Double Cover & MJ insert… can’t be many that have those two qualities. Thanks for sharing.👍
Looking forward to reading the early Byrne work. Thanks for always supporting my channel, Professor!
Good for you getting the double cover amigo
Thank you!
Fun haul, love the double cover. I have a good few of them in my collection.
Nice! I really like the novelty of these double covers. I need more!
Batman Cap nice book
Thanks!
Your Back!!! I absolutely love ❤️ what you found! That Batman 608 Newspaper edition I paid $15-$20 for it! 1/2 Price bookstore is a nice way of hunting for comics that they know absolutely nothing about them. I have found gems there and people freak out! Plus I sell them my lower quality Keys and get some money back!
@@gregwait3553 thanks for the welcome! I should really try selling more at HPB.
Good finds once again Schoon. That Batman giveaway is not easy to find. I like to see your vids even if a shorty.😁 Merry Christmas my friend.🎄
Thank you, sir. You’re my hero!
Nice pickups Schoon's! Nice 1st appearances! Happy Holidays!🎄☃️❄️👍✌️
Thanks so much!
Update: DC has reprinted 33 or more issues, mostly from Rebirth and Dawn of DC, with a few animated-style comics tossed in. I believe all l are labeled #1, all have the same back cover, all have the DC Bullet brand symbol (in blue), and they have a $3.99 price printed on the covers. Most characters and groups have received 2 or more issues, for example there are 3 Suicide Squad reprints. Not all issues were originally #1, for example Batman: Joker War was originally Batman #95 from 2020. I believe one of the oldest issues included is Batman Adventures #1 from 2003. The reprinting is Batman heavy: 2 Batman-Scooby issues, a Batman '89, and BM: The Brave & the Bold.
Thanks for the info!
90s foil, the original laser pointer. lol Awesome haul!
Thanks!
HPB is one of my favorite places to hunt for comics. Probably my favorite, honestly
@@buraddorun3043 agreed! You never know what you’ll find.
Holy BLEEP! You slaughtered 1/2 price bins. You scored some incredible books (even without the first carnage )
What??? DC old logos??? I’m checking today!!! Thanks!
Good luck!
What? You keep finding DC Universe variants in $1 bins, Green Lantern “Kyle” and Splatt Moon Knight???? What state are you in???? Great seeing another video again and just after Thanksgiving! Whoo hoo!
I keep getting lucky! But I’m always hunting like a crazy person.
Are those file cabinets behind you?
Nope. Just regular old long boxes.
I've observed that you're a lot like youtuber Jim from Bronzeville Comics, a New Yorker. You both do *lots* of "in-person" searching for older issues, both buy multiple copies, and you both designate your "spec" issues. The main difference is that he gets lots of books graded, using his LCS to submit. Anyway, I'm jealous that HPB sold you a '50s pre-Code issue of Adventure Comics for just $1.50. I've been looking for comics like that for decades!
Keep hunting! You never know where the deals will come from.
👍👍👍👍
Credit to the dealer for honoring that dollar book!
True. I was pleasantly surprised.
I think those reprints with the old bullet logo are to cross promote with the new DCU movies because James Gunn is using the logo in his productions. they are hard to find
Maybe so
Cool finds Schoon. Those Marvel monster issues are always cool to find. Looks like you got some kind of direct market variant with that 2-pack. Very interesting that they changed the cover probably to attract #1 buyers. Thanks for the info.👍
Bless you Professor!
That WAS exciting and oh so thrilling!
Ha! Right??
@SchoonsComics love your hauls.....even if I'm a little jealous of them 🤣
Thanks for the 90s goodness!
@@otakutourguide you’re quite welcome.
I was in graduate school at the time and collected comics. I remember my girlfriend asking me one night if it was true they are killing off Superman? She couldn’t believe it. Superman can’t die ….
@@EddyMerckx-1964-Sallanches it was shocking to me as well!
Hey that Secret Origins 4 with Harley on it was the 1st chronological appearance of Damian in the Robin costume. Batman 657 was his 1st unofficial appearance in the suit.
@@billlewis8765 no kidding?? Cool! Thanks for the info.

Wondered if anyone would notice the shirt. I wore it to a recent comic show. Ran into a dealer wearing a vintage British Bulldogs shirt so we nerded out.
