Welcome to Jam Reiderson, an account dedicated to Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson of AMC's Interview with the Vampire! Here we'll explore the world of vampires through the show, fan hypotheses, interviews with Sam and Jacob (and the rest of the cast), and book analysis. We'll also fangirl out a lot because what else can you do when it comes to something as magical as this show?!
Did Louis eat the baby? (No) || INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE 1X2 || Reaction, Review, Ramble, Analysis
What is the proper penance of a sated vampire? What is the Great Conversion? Can love prevail even if the narrative is doomed? Did Louis eat the baby?
INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE 1x2, "...After the Phantoms of You Former Self," hits on all of these questions, leaves us with even more questions, devastates us with its complex storytelling, and keeps us cooing and giggling with comedy and all-consuming love.
Tag along with me as I revisit (for the 521354 time) this episode, quote too much of it as it's happening on screen, keep my cool about the most in love vampire boys, and analyze certain scenes and lines and what they mean for the story we've seen and the story to come.

Interview with the Vampire Season 2 Premiere Party 🎉🍾🩸❤
มุมมอง 2K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
Jam Reiderson (me and actual-Jam Reiderson) went to the Interview with the Vampire season 2 premiere party in NYC at the McKittrick Hotel and, let me tell you, it was an adventure! I met the coolest people, from cast and crew to fellow fans, and, most importantly, lived up the night like a vampire. @AutumnBottomBrown - here's to you, my friend! ❤️ @amcplus - thank you for the time of my life! ❤...
"Lestat's blood was giggling inside me." Ha, it would be. 🙃
The scene in the opera house when Lestat talks about loneliness always makes me think about a scene in season 2 episode 7. Lestat talks about the horrible loneliness that a vampire can feel and touches the audience member to let him experience it. I'm thinking that one of the songs on Lestat's album will be about this terrible loneliness that he has felt and tries to escape throughout his life.
I enjoyed this so much! I love watching along with you and I love that you share my constant ache for Louis! Wrt to the great conversion, I initially thought the brute might’ve been Azim. Since Marius already got a mention I wondered if that would maybe lead into the temple scene with Pandora. Sine we also got Fareed early I wondered if we are also already potentially getting into Amel. So many possibilities.
I'm useless at offering up theories, I'm afraid, but I really enjoy listening to what others far more qualified than I, and steeped in the lore of IWTV, such as yourself, think about the Great Conversion! As for your episode 2 analysis, it was another great investment of my time because of the book insights you highlight, your adorable (and very relatable) fondness for these beloved characters and how it's a great way to bridge the time between now and S3! Thanks for sharing your thoughts - great job, Kirsten!
About seeing Sam Reid in the flesh: no wonder you felt overwhelmed. Because, as Louis put it, Lestat is A LOT. He leaves quite an impact. I would compare your probable feelings to the reaction I had in early childhood when my Mom called me to come and take a look at SANTA CLAUS on TV. Well, to me back then Santa was a real person and something superhuman, second only to God. I was so overcome that I covered my eyes and ran from the room. And similarly Lestat is a bigger-than-life character, so real and charismatic that he materializes right off the printed page. No wonder you, as a show fan AND a book fan, would be affected by the actor who has become his living breathing embodiment! I myself screamed out loud when I saw the Season 3 trailer.
Love how you're putting all the repeat watches to good use, and putting your customary effort and forethought into everything you want to say, using the books and show clips! I found it really entertaining, and I can't wait for each of the episodes to get the same treatment! Also, thanks for being down to earth and genuinely just as giddy as the rest of us, in a fandom where being well-versed in book lore and humility, don't always go hand-in-hand, imo! Chuckled at your inability to function during Loustat/Lestat scenes (relatable 😍), and really liked the implication that Louis' opening line to Daniel isn't intended to ruffle his feathers, in hindsight! Plus, I also feel sorry for Lestat in that moment at the family dinner where Louis renounces any enjoyment of Lestat's beloved opera! He's so hurt by it (even though, as he later says, he understands Louis' need to keep some things to himself)! Anyway, keep up the good work, Kirsten! 👏
I love the way you break down this episode. It shows how much you enjoy the series. I enjoyed watching it with you. Thank You.
I think the question of whether vampirism will completely heal Daniel's Parkinsons is an interesting topic. The transformation did heal Gabrielle of her consumption in TVL. It's definitely something I look forward to hearing you discuss in further videos. Hope you have so much fun at the Vampire Ball!
I can feel through you the love I feel for this show. I love that you did this and deeply appreciate this content. Watching you process each of those moments and repeat the lines I know so well is so satisfying. Love everything about it!❤🙏🏾
You're very intelligent and I love your analysis! I'm so happy that I found you!
I personally interpret the Bacon Triptych as representing Louis, Lestat and Armand - the three witnesses to Claudia's execution. One of the figures (the one on the right) is screaming and the shot of Louis being buried alive is eerily reminiscent of it. The fact that they're selling it in S2 could mean a few things: - by publishing the interview, they're commercializing Claudia's tragedy - Armand's the one to initiate the selling of it - he wants to move on and for Louis to finally get over his grief - Louis is able to process the tragedy and move on with his life when he replaces the Triptych with a painting of a child in a mother's embrace and honoring Claudia (and Paul) in a different way It's so fun to revisit the show again (and again..... I totally relate to 256 rewatches) with you!❤
I really like your reactions! I too think this is probably the best pilot I have ever seen, and it holds up every rewatch. I noticed this time that Grace said that her wedding was 1 month away, which makes Louis and Lestat’s courtship quicker than many others have speculated. The church is a deconsecrated privately-owned former chapel that is now rented out for events and filming. I’m a little confused about your reactions to Lestat. You seem to like him (might be my imagination?)but you never have anything positive to say about him. Maybe as the video goes on, you’ll warm up to him?
Ooh, the wedding timeline is interesting! I do wonder if it's just an error because Paul's grave has death day listed as early May, and as the New Orleans flashbacks start we get the, 'The year was 1910, the fall of the fifth year of my father's passing...' Either way, their courtship was 1-6 months which is crazzzyyyyyyy to decide to spent -- quite literally -- eternity together. As for Lestat, I adore him! I find him exhausting at times, and I think my fond eye rolls when he, for example, is feeling Lily up at the table in front of Louis, or when he shows up to Paul's funeral being the Worst, are how I'm supposed to react, but I do have positive things to say about him, like my commentary on gift-giving being his love language, or the sadness of his past and my excitement that we're going to explore that in s3, or his speech being the most romantic speech. He's intended to be a charming and frustrating, and I'd have him no other way.
This show is so finely detailed in every aspect. I really didn't notice the extent of Louis' alcoholism until my 2nd or 3rd rewatch. He's a very high functioning alcoholic for sure
Yes!! They find ways to incorporate every overarching aspect of the story, whilst adapting it into the beautiful thing it is. I feel so lucky we get to watch it all unfold right in front of us. ❤️
Girl, your face during their spicy scene 🤣😁
Listen 😭😭😭 I thought I would be better given I've seen it 923858378753 times, but being on camera changed all of it and I realized I cannot be normal about it. suffering in real time honestly
ahhh literally just found ur channel on my fyp, already locked in. ive already seen the show twice and im currently started to read qotd and im OBSESSED with the series/chronicles oh my god. i just finished autumn browns analysis of s2 im so excited to hear ur thoughts!! just popped in to say that. also my fellow ldpdl stan we are soul tied xx
Ahhhh, welcome! I'm so glad I popped up on your FYP, hopefully from Autumn's fun videos. I met her at the s2 premiere and we had a blast watching 02x01 together lol and YES, a fellow LDPDL stan, always and forever the most welcomed ❤️
I am so excited that you are going back to season 1. I feel like every time I watch it (which has been many times🤣) I notice something new. The idea of doing a The Vampire Lestat book club is going to be so fun! Can't wait to have an excuse to read it again.
Yes!!!! Let’s read TVL together!!!!!!!
🤣🤣🤣 That was great - your expressions were priceless (and entirely relatable)!! Thanks for sharing!
I don't know how you held it even slightly together! I CANNOT WAIT FOR MORE!!!
If I hadn't been on a plane, I'm pretty sure I would have screamed so loud I would have broken glass 😭❤️
Girl! I appreciate you being so transparent about your feelings. It’s probably healthier to know that so many people are drowning in Sam and his Lestat power. Knowing it’s not just me, barely able to function, because of it-is comforting, sort of. I just know I haven’t been this captivated by ANYONE in a long, long time. I’m starting the Vampire Armand today, since I just finished the others. I think I’m reading to break up the complicated obsession I have with Louis & Lestat on TV. Note: I choose to believe that one MAIN reason Lestat does his whole book/doc thing is to take the heat off of the backlash coming from the vampires to Louis. He loves and protects Louis no matter what. They are end game and knowing it helps me sleep… Because all the rest of it keeps me awake… often. THANKS!
thank you for watching and I'm glad to share all the feelings with you because they're a lot 😭💜 we've really lucked out with the most amazing story right in front of us, we can survive this together! And oooh for starting The Vampire Armand !! You'll have to let me know what you think, that book was heavy, but really builds so much more insight to Armand's decisions. (and yes to Loustat endgame, the most comforting of comforts in the world 💜)
@@JamReiderson Yes! 100% Thanks so much for your dedication to the content. It’s getting me through! 💫
Wolfkiller 😭
I KNOW !!! He's real, and he's coming 💜
Can't wait to see what Rolin & company have in store for us in S3, and I appreciate any and all efforts to pass the time waiting for its arrival with planned readings and general infatuation that you're able to provide! Heartfelt gratitude in advance (and also good luck with implementing your ideas for your channel 💜)! Bravo, Kirsten!
Thank you for sticking around through my unintended hiatus, and I hope we can all survive the time together 💜 and hopefully it'll be fun and insightful and by the time the season comes around, we'll feel the tiniest bit more prepared for whatever wonders await us!
I’m still amazed I found a person who loves IWTV AND Maneskin as much as I do 😊❤
love me some måneskin !! I'll find that levan akin interview where he talked about them in regard to the vampire lestat stuff and share it at some point because I'm very excited to have those worlds collide in any capacity 💜
I would love to see maybe in a season 4, Louis and Lestat going through therapy with a relationship counselor.
Season 4 will probably cover the third book in Ann Rice's The Vampire Chronicles Ann Rice's The Queen of the Damned. Akasha is a 6000 year old vampire, the mother of all vampires and queen of all who are damned who awakens from her comatose state in our present day seeking out Lestat as her new consort to rule over all mankind.
I'm not sure if there's a counselor with enough power to get them through things BUT I do trust them to get through things on their own terms....whatever those terms may be (and just knowing there's a season 4 looming when we don't even have all of season 3 yet...so exciting, and SO scary) 💜💜
Oh, that would be hysterically funny!
@@hollyvanwye9294 pure comedy 😂
😂😂😂😂😂that would hilarious
😍😍😍😍😊
💜💜💜
About the heckler scene- I remember someone saying Lestat needed to connect to the audience as much as possible in order to be able to mind control them later. So he finds ways to gain their sympathy and get closer to them physically
I like that the s*x scenes and intimacy are low key. So many shows today make me feel like I’m watching 🌽 😂 I’d rather focus on the storytelling, beautiful language and the occasional topless vampire ❤
Louis’ “meow” was like Lestat’s “Siri, pause.” 😂
I've never read any of the books, thought the '94 film was 'oh-kay' but this series definitely had me gripped - seduced, even. The way Lestat described his and Louis' love as "transcendent" was very poignant for me, especially as a straight person who supports queer rights.
YOU WERE BETTER AS A MAYFAIR
Keep it together gurl...you got this. If you can increase the screen size and brighten it. It's a bit difficult to watch what you are watching. Looking forward to your reviews!
I so love how thorough you are!!!
I'm so glad you enjoyed this finale (even if it seemed to stress you out when it wasn't heading where you thought it would for a hot minute 😅)! I thought this finale was particularly satisfying, with some threads tied off, some still left to be explored, and a promise of things to look forward to in S3! I look forward to your reactions to S3, and just want to say thanks for informing those of us who haven't read the books, of what's canonically written when certain scenes or lines present themselves in the show! Appreciate the work you put into making these for fandom, Kirsten! 👏
I believe they said Louis 🎉 be in season 3. Something to the affect they can't think of not having Jacob come back. I think he'll be used in away Lestat was this season.
Rollin jones has confirmed that Jacob will be in season 3
House of the dragon. Read thoise books. _JC
Those books intimidate me, but I might try for it!!! I missed out on the Game of Thrones hype back in the day so it would be all new for me
have a patreon tier where you have 2 glasses of wine first. that will make tears a sure thing! _JC
LOL I am a lightweight, I'm not sure anyone wants to see me on two glasses of wine 😭😂😂 maybe I'll do a drinking game rewatch though, that could be lots of fun haha
Yes so many tears😢 I will miss this show.
I knowwww 😭 hopefully it'll all be back before we know it!
girl i started crying with you 😭
Getting boxes of tissues for us both for next season 😭😭
😂👍✌️
Was amazed that you managed to hold it together during the reunion scene. That scene completely obliterated me!
I honestly think I was overwhelmed, like could not believe what I was seeing 😭 I went back and watched the scene on its own a little later and full-on sobbed when Lestat's voice cracked as he asked Louis if he'd hurt himself. Damn those actors being too good at their job!! It's truly the most beautiful scene.
LOVE you pulling out the receipts its so fun every time. I think the confrontation in Magnus' tower with Louis and Armand never happened and we'll eventually find out that it was closer to the one in the book with just Lestat and Armand, probably why Lestat doesn't say anything to Louis really. I'm also so glad we got the final scene focused on Louis, and his little personality coming out in the new furnishing of the penthouse. Louis my babygiiiirl
I LOVE pulling out receipts, it feels like a puzzle. I can't wait to do a more in-depth puzzle put together of this episode now that I've had some time to digest it all. Very interesting about the tower comment!! I was very surprised by it so I'm curious to see how this goes down in s3 should they revisit. And yes yes yes! Louis ! Furnishing his home with things that bring him happiness, and things that can help him come to peace with everything. Cannot wait to see where his story goes <3
i cried with you...great job...
I'm glad we could all cry together 💖😭 thank you!
I’m so happy that Louis will hopefully stay a main character because I adore him and can’t imagine losing him!! Jacob’s performance has brought so many levels to Louis that I ADORE. So pleased with this season and this finale
Yes, yes, yes! Knowing that we're getting Lestat's story, and all that happens beyond, with Louis present is the greatest gift this show has given us. Having Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson front and center in our story is so amazing, I can't wait to see what Jacob does with this new route for Louis <3 <3
100% Louis would be long gone from that “marriage” if it wasn’t for the promise he gave Lestat. He ended up punishing himself too though 😢
Everyone punished themselves in so many ways, it's so sad 😭 in the words of Jacob Anderson, "GO TO THERAPY, MON CHER" @ all of them
This show is so compelling, I love it so much. This was the first episode I actually sob during!
I've sobbed during more episodes than I care to admit, but this one was a special kind of sob, one there for the beautiful conclusion of book 1 😭 Can't wait for us all to cry again next season lol
You mean S1, ep5 didn’t make you cry?😢 I had a breakdown fr😂
Yes, girl. The withdrawal all of us are gonna go through is not something I’m looking forward to 😢😢😢
We're going to get through it together! (Un)fortunately, this show has us all in a chokehold so we're in this together forever 😭
I've been ugly crying for almost 16 hours at this point, it's fine lol
IT'S SO BAD! Right when I think I've gotten over it all, I get reminded of their vulnerability in that final reunion and sob all over again 💖😭😭
❤ gonna watch the rest tomorrow so excited to see your reaction
Thank you 💖💖 I can't wait for us all to do this again next season
