it would be great to see these in action on marchtime but if there is actual emergency people would be confused
Oh for sure. I have no idea why they decided to put this system on March time.
Yay the return of the loonie alarm signal
I live there!
It’s amazing how good these panels are- especially their audio quality. It sounds especially good with the new high fidelity speakers that are in the LED products that Siemens sells. It’s amazing that these panels have been in production for almost 25 years and are still being refreshed and are still the top of the line. They are older than the Notifier Onyx series and almost the same age as the Simplex 4100U. The audio quality is especially impressive considering that the predecessor was the MXL-V. That was an extremely impressive panel for its time, but the audio quality wasn’t nearly as good.
MXL audio wasnt trash on most systems
@ You’re right, I guess. It was more an issue with the message and the interference on the amplifiers.
racist strobe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice
I’m surprised there was no voice evac message
The company that oversees this facility prefers to have their staff make live announcements during a fire event. All their buildings are like this.
1:39 99% of questions regarding simplex start with why, then turn into the question you asked there.
Lmao. The only question I ever ask about Simplex is "Why aren't we ripping this garbage out?"
FWR?
Nope. Filtered. Powered off my Simplex 4010.
Is it as simple as a lighting circuit with the pull station being the switch and the bell instead of the light ?
It's literally that simple, at least for 120V systems like this. Newer systems with panels are different though.
Two-stage system?
Correct! Healthcare clinic.
Where did you buy the fire alarm?
I got this one from a fire alarm upgrade my company did.
This is why you don’t pull the fire alarm for no reason it’s not funny. It’s not a joke and it’s not a prank.
I agree. It's not funny, and I certainly hope whoever pulled it gets caught.
Come on pull it
I do now haha. I was still new to the industry at the time.
@ ok
Do the ducts when they are in alarm, intiate supervisorys or alarms..? and also what does it say on the facp when it is activated does it say for example Mechanical Room Duct#9 Supervisory or vise versa with alarm
I'm in Canada, and by code all of our duct smokes are required to initiate alarms. These ones were labeled as the room number, fan unit number, then supply or return. For example "B049 AHU-3 SUPPLY AIR".
It took forever between the LED going solid and the horns sounding
Just how smartsync works, when the LED was lit it was activated at the panel but the Smartsync is what delays the horn/strobes.
Simplex = 🗑️
@@Twentythree33 indeed
I love simplex!
I certainly don't. They cause so many headaches for me as a tech, but they do have some cool features.
Nice video!
Dun dun dun dun dun dun
I actually know what song that comes from now.
In my opinion: Simplex products (if programed properly and not on a buggy firmware): 👍👍👍 Simplex Service and JCI’s practices:👎👎👎 That’s why Autocall is becoming so common (at least here in the US). It’s just Simplex products without dealing with JCI’s service or prices.
I absolutely love the features and interface of Simplex panels, particularly the 4100ES with the FUI. My problem with Simplex is their reliability and bugs. I can't even do a basic isolator test without the panel absolutely freaking out. I also had a system once (4100ES with IDNAC) that blew 3 cards within 5 seconds of testing the bells. Plus JCI isn't helping. They're horrendous to deal with. I'd definitely like to get to know Autocall; they seem to be popping up more and more around here. If Simplex and Autocall could figure out a way to function properly under normal testing, it would be in my top 3 brands.
@ I 100% Agree. Unfortunately, my school district is stuck in the JCI boat for a while. 8 of their 11 buildings have Simplex systems. 6 of them are 4007ES systems and one is a 4100ES. Those will be staying for the foreseeable future. The only system that will be going away soon is the 4100U in the old high school which will be demolished in the next few years. Luckily, their lates 3 buildings do not have Simplex systems. An elementary school from 2014 and the new high school which just opened have Siemens systems and the elementary school that opened last year has an Autocall system. Upgrading systems in schools is now a big hassle here in the US because most areas (including mine) are now requiring Voice Evac systems in all education facilities. Previously (up until 2018), Voice Evac was only required in schools with over a 1000 student capacity in my area. Because of this, the only schools in my district that are actually up to code now are the Middle School and the new High School.
Love the music in the background that’s why we waiting waiting waiting on the world to change love it
Why is the area where you pulled the alarm fenced off?

They ain’t bad with AirPods in. At least that’s what I do
I always have earbuds in when working and alarms are definitely more bearable.
i like how these pull stations are quite common in america but uncommon around canada
They're pretty common here tbh. At least in my area.
Well I’m from Ontario it’s pretty much uncommon in my area

@@Twentythree33 ahh okay that’s rly cool, thanks.. Question for you, my main goal in life is to be a firefighter, BUT alarms are something I REALLY wanna get into.. did it take like a whole long college degree and university degree and all this other stuff to get a job at an fire alarm electrical places?
Sorry for the late reply! If you're in Canada you have to take what's called CFAA courses. If you can, try to apply to be a junior fire alarm technician. That's what I am currently. I don't have my courses completed, but I always work under another tech. As part of this, all my CFAA courses are covered by the company. Hope this helps!
What’s strange about? I’ve ran into several like this
Almost all EST3s I work on have the usual "whiny" piezo.
Schindler 3300 with incredibly rare indicator
You're a 3300 with an incredibly rare indicator.
Recently seen one of these in person at a brand new apartment block I did fire alarm work for. I was the one who programmed all the alarm relays for the elevator recall, shunt, and flashing hat.

Love me a good Mircom system, I wish they were more common in the US, specifically down here in the south lol. Great video! I have a Pyrotronics bell that's the same size, even the logo looks similar.
