Froze Our Butt Off - 2020 Can Am Spyder RT Limited
Cold weather versus a rider on the 2020 Can Am Spyder RT Limited, it was a tie. The CanAm Ryker and the Spyder F3, while awesome three wheelers, they don't offer the protection the Spyder RT or Can Am Spyder F3 Limited does in cold weather. We might be a little crazy, but living in a hot weather climate, we tend to chase a colder climate.
The town of 'Bright' in Victoria was our base for several days. We rode out in different directions most days. The riding was some of the best we've done in Australia.

    Hello... - I will be taking delivery of my new Spyder RT Limited next week. I was interested in how you load your RT's, because we also want to buy the bags for the TC, side cases and front cases. In this video, I also noticed the handlebars on the RT with the licence plate 436UN. I know the video with the handlebar conversion on the 435UN... Which handlebars are on the 436UN? Is there also a video about this? I would also like to change the handlebars on my new RT, as the original handlebars are not good for my neck and shoulders. I would be pleased if you could give me some information on this. Thanks in advance. Greetings Manfred from Germany

    I remember when I upgraded from an ‘89 Goldwing to a ‘95. Before I left the dealer my ‘89 was sold and going to Ireland. The reason is similar to you as the U.S. models have more bells and whistles (lights and stuff) than the UK models.

    Maybe this is a 15 minute job on a 2020 but it sure as heck isn't a 15 minute job on the 2021 because the wires are too short. Luckily I found a thread that explains how to get more length up to the new bars. I have copied and pasted the procedure below an it was a very good explanation. The bars are certainly 15 or 20 minutes to install but it took me another hour to find the solution and get the extra length in the wiring harness. See below..... "Once you get everything moved over an installed you'll find the wires are too short. They are long enough, but they are zip-tied underneath so you can't pull enough loose to install the longer bars. This is the fiddly part. That being the location of the zip tie. If you remove the right hand speaker cover next to the glove box, you'll find the zip tie. The speaker cover comes off super easy, but you have to be careful. You remove it by pinching with your fingers and gently pulling up on the inside portion. You'll see the mounting tabs and how to reinstall. Underneath the speaker cover is obviously, the speaker. However, the speaker can't be removed easily because of the plastic dash and the speaker is located inside of a plastic housing that partially blocks access to the wire harness. The harness runs underneath the handlebars. The left side wires route to the right side, and the right and left side harnesses are zip-tied together on the right side. The zip tie is anchored to the frame by way of a plastic and metal clip that I couldn't easily dislodge. I cut the zip tie using a long bladed scissor. This must be done SUPER carefully so you don't nip the wires. However, once done you can gently pull enough slack wire to finish the job."

    I'm sure you'll find the RT Ltd more comfortable than the F3. Not only that but the extra luggage is useful when planning long-distance touring. I assume you bought these in 2020 I'd be interested in your thoughts now that you had them a while and no doubt put some kms on them. How is the fuel economy, how far can you ride on a tank and general thoughts about a long day on the bike.

      Thankyou 👍 I've tried setting a trend by riding on the other side, but folks yell at me 😂

    Nice area, we do that trip and over the mountains across to East Coast several times a year , but covid-19 has stuffed that at the moment, just would like to ask how far can you get on a tank of fuel at sedate riding , currently touring for last few years on our 2015 BMW R1200RT-LC just about to clock up 70.000 km . John & Tanina in South Australia. 👍☕🍽🍺🍺🏍🏍😊

      Hi John We are so impressed with the area. Hoping to get back in September, COVID permitting. Like your choice of BMW's...nice bike. We get about 380 to 400 klms out of a tank, sedate riding though. We fill up around the 350 mark, just in case I miscalculated or the fuel gauge is lying to me, not a fan of walking 😁 Thanks for watching our video. Be safe 👍 Cheers Mike & Catrina

    Got this at the same time as I got the message cancelling the Long Ride for 2021 ... talk about rubbing it in! And when did you ever go anywhere that required you to wash your Spyder ... I thought there was a healthy dirt road phobia around you two? I guess there must have been bugs ....

    • @RoundTheKorner
      @RoundTheKorner 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was bugs mate and lots of them. We do have a no dirt road policy, unlike you & Bryan. Sorry to hear your ride was cancelled. We were flying to Tassie again on Friday (6th), lockdown has killed that I think. A selfish up side for us re your ride cancellation, you might be available for a catch up early Oct, that is, if we manage to get the bikes back on the mainland.

    Was great to see you guys without getting trapped in an elevator! Hopefully you have got the machines back by now ... or does lockdown really mean lockdown?

      We had the best time, outside the elevator incident. Great to see you as well. We just got back from Tassie for the second time. We took advantage of the bikes been there and had a short trip. Our plan is to pick them up late September, COVID permitting.

      I’ve ridden around Bright on the Spyder but in the warmer months. It really is beautiful.
