Dean ML79 (Made in Korea, 2000s) with upgraded Official Floyd Rose bridge test and jam
มุมมอง 1953 หลายเดือนก่อน
Testing my Dean ML 79 (made in Korea) with an OFR upgrade. Sorry for not using proper mics. Sound is coming from my own Kemper profile that is base on Randall RG3003 and Mesa cabinet. This is a fantastic guitar to play especially after upgrading the bridge. With the licensed Floyd it was a tuning nightmare but now with OFR you can pretty much do anything and the tuning holds.

    For me 0,73 is the thinnest I can feel sort of comfortable playing lead on electric. Still prefer 1,0 for electric but I really like the 0,73 for playing steel string acoustic. And also if you're just strumming open chords its a whole another story. Even though I can strum on the steel string acoustic with a 1,0 you just have to compensate so much for the pick not flexing enough that it just makes more sense to play with a thinner pick then.

    • @kaukomieli
      @kaukomieli 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also a thinner pick is going to sound a bit better when strumming chords on a steel string acoustic too.

    • @kaukomieli
      @kaukomieli 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And in the end its possible to obsess endlessly about finding the "perfect pick" but as you said your brain will compensate for whatever pick you are playing with so I feel like its important to just "get close enough" and then just stick with that pick hahah

    • @lassikuusela
      @lassikuusela 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Aren't we all desperate to becoming great musicians? 😅 Well, it is a long road and I think one of the most important things to keep in mind are consistency and playing with control. So try to play everyday and don't force anything but listen and feel your playing, try to make it feel and sound good. That usually means you have to slow things down. What comes to theory... I think learning songs in the beginning is a great way to learn music and its basics. Once you are getting pretty good and have played all kinds of musical things you can start to take a more deep dive to theory. For me theory was next to cancer until I had played for a long time and wanted to learn to understand my playinig further. Now that I have true motivation to learn theory it has been fast, fun and really mind blowing. You could try to find a teacher that helps you with guitar as well as theory once it feels relevant. If you have motivation and are a selflearning-type then you can try to find learning material from the internet! Hope this answer was even a bit usefull! Despite of everything... Keep picking! 😎

Now my sound is starting to be a bit less gainy and I have noticed some weird characteristics on this guitars sound compared to my others and have started wondering if the reversed pickup is the cause. I am thinking of making a video where I test the sound difference of this pickup normal/reversed. Plummer's tape is a great solution: super cheap, easy to wrap, has no sticky adhesive, and easy to adjust the quantity. Get your trem as tight or as loose as you want. Lasts for ages and is easy to replace with no mess. Totally harmless to your trem system.

      Gonna try that definetly! Just gotta get my ass off to the store, harder than you would think 😅

    Better solution? Replace the trem arm with an orignal or pop in arm. Massive upgrade for 20-25 usd.

      Love those pop in FR setups👍was gonna get one for my new Schaller Lockmeister but it’s solid, maybe replace it if it wears out down the road.

      Hmm.. I've never heard of those pop in arms. Sound interesting! Are they all tight and clonky-free? :D This was more of a fast fix with nothing to work on but if a more permanent solution is found it would be superb.

    Teflon tape or I just replace the arm with a push in which I like better

    Wouldn't it be better to tighten it from the underside the way it's supposed to? Or better yet get a Floyd push in arm they're very solid

      @lassikuusela 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What do you mean by tightening the underside? The arm is loose in the solid cavity which can not me tightened. That push arm thing sound cool and would be interested to try one! Did not know about them.
