This was my second trip to Madeira this year, and I booked this flight so I could experience Jet2 for the first time. The aircraft was the highlight, a 27 year old Boeing 757-200 that was immaculately clean and in superb condition throughout. What a memorable flight. The giant graceful bird of the skies!! Through no fault of its own did the disaster happen( Allegedly). With the aid of a billionaire and permission this could still be possible.
I personally think that the incident in France was the excuse they needed to retire the aircraft, The Americans are working on something similar but it will never be as special IMO. Thanks for your comment 😊

Even now, if launched, people will definitely fly Concord, irrespective of the pricing. If British Airways are not interested, they should give it to some private airlines.

This flight was in September 2018. I checked airfleets and the aircraft is still in service with Lufthansa today. 🙂🙂

Moving along so very fast, yet the pilots remain calm and collected throughout the whole thing. What the neatest thing was, was when it landed, here comea all that sound barrier sound craft had been dragging behind it the whole way.

Is there any particular reason why the 757 is so special apart from the fact that it's very old now
Too many factors to mention here Benji, but here goes: She looks good!!! She is extremely powerful and can takeoff and land on the shortest of runways with ease because she gets the speed up so quickly. Pilots say she handles like a sports car in that she is so responsive and is a joy to fly. She takes turbulence better than many similar-sized aircraft types. Her durability has withstood the test of time. She even handles like a dream at slower speeds. The B757 and Boeing B767 have a common type rating and common crew qualification, meaning that if a pilot can fly one, they can also fly the other. Airlines operating both the B757 and B767 can take advantage of great flexibility in flight crew assignment. Further, both aircraft share the same flight crew operating instructions, similar maintenance schedules, manuals and inspection routines. Her durability has withstood the test of time. To sum it up in a sentence... Honestly, I still don't understand why, after so many issues with trying to stretch the B737 out of proportion, they don't just take the Boeing 757 schematics down off the shelf and build her back into the world of commercial aviation.
