Feelin Bad Blues - Crossroads - Ry Cooder - 50 years old Silvertone 1423
My try on this masterpiece played by Ry Cooder for the 80's movie "Crossroads"
Recorded with a smartphone! I think, the sound is ok for that.
Played on my Silvertone. Maybe I will sell it...

There is another video in open tuning, because I like to play slide guitar! th-cam.com/video/bximwCDF1YY/w-d-xo.html Video and audio recorded by smartphone! Just to show a bit the sound possibilities of this guitar. I guess it's from 1962! The pickups was wax-potted to eliminate microphonics and unwanted feedback. Was done more than 10 years agoo and made a big difference! I made a litte change...

The music cant get no better. Oh Ry Coodefs. The best. As far as it doesn't matter plays, ya it do.There are some who have heard me play it and threaten me with a pistol whipping it I ever dared make a mockery of that song again. Perhaps I could play it better if I had my dream guitar. A Harmony H-49. Looks like this Silverstone, only blond. Oh they are beautiful guitars.

I had one, ..the thing about the fret board on those, is it's the same width at the Nut as on the Opposite end of the neck, ..not tapered, ie. narrower at the nut and wider at the other end like other guitars. That's the only model I've ever seen designed that way. ..have you ever noticed that? ..check it.🤷 ..dig your playing by the way. ..alot! 👍🤩

I never had one, but I knew several guys that did, so I got to play them occasionally. Interesting guitars that were great if they were set up right. Pickups were a real crapshoot at times. My first guitar was a 1983 Ibanez Roadstar II. It had what they called "quarter-pounder" pickups - 3 Fender type single coils with big fat 1/4" polepieces. It had a 5-way selector switch, and a little silver phase switch that worked in positions 2 and 4. Playing with these switches and the volume knob, you could make this guitar sound like a Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, whatever. It was the single most versatile guitar I ever had, and I have kicked myself in the ass many times for selling it.

man, you made me buy a '60 silvertone today, I didn't even know the model but I was very amazed at how you made it sound. very well done, congratulations. Lots of blues in you. I'm from Chile, and this video gave me the impression that the Jupiter works very well with slide, obviously the guitarrist is the most important thing. Cheers

Really nice version of it man. I remember getting goosebumps when I was around 12 or 13 hearing it in the movie while Willie brown is monologuing over it. Still sounds good as hell no matter who's playing it.
