Hah Hah! 🙂 The STi is bigger than me know. When I travel, people don't care about the M2, they ask for the STi. Most have never seen it, only heard from others. The stories that I hear are larger than life. The stories of flames shooting out the back have grown from 12" to over 6 feet over the years.
@@PFCoach44 Good stuff. Do you still own it? Don’t get me wrong, the M2 is an awesome car but I have a sweet spot for you tearing up the track in the Subaru.

I am much faster now after 3 years watching this video over and over again analyzing every detail. Barber, PittRace, NCM, Mid-Ohio, VIR North and Grand Course, and Summit Point are where my driving style dominate. And also my students and former students.😅 Driving skill, experience, and braking skills are very important - less about horsepower.
Viper (looks like a Gen 2) got passed at 1:45 and got lapped at 7:15. This should not happen! 😮

It is a 2021 with a locked DME. Fun suspension work and full Active Autowerke exhaust system (got rid of that diaper look).
Nice driving. Was in the same group, plenty of cars over the weekend. I often lost patience after 6-7 laps or so and pit in. Glad see you get a fast lap at lap 12.

Brian was running the Falken FK615+ tire. They are the 200TW predecessor to the RT660.

Yes, I publish these videos to transfer experiences to my subscribers and former students. After the spin, tire pressures were good indicating that it was not a flat tire. I went back on the track hoping to get more heat in the tires for more grip. I knew immediately when I rolled up a Camaro SS and it had more grip than me in the esses (Turn 7 to Turn 14). I came in and saw that my tires were corded and tires were hard indicating too many heat cycles and no rubber left. 3 days on the high grip Mosport (CTMP) pavement really took a toll on my tires.

Randy was running a 7.5 motor with advanced timing turned on. It was the electric version of a Turbocharged engine. Many months of practice to get the speed controller and the controller running right. You will notice that it would quickly accelerate once it reached a certain rpm. We were one of the first to pioneer using a mild Mod motor in Group A R/C racing. The leader was running a 4.5 motor.
Do you also teach them to have their hands at 10 and 2 😂

I teach the Advance Off-Line corner entry to my NOVICE students on Day 1. They ask me why? I say because we are going to need it come Sunday morning when we start lapping the field and receiving late Point-Bys! We do not waive off any Point-Bys! I teach and demonstrate how to take a corner off-line faster than most drivers on-line. Very high corner speeds and braking is the foundation of going Fast - Properly Fast! 🏁

The STi never been on a dyno - tuned on the street to simulate actual track driving. Estimated to be around 350 whp on 93. BTW, torque is more important for track driving rather than horsepower. That is where the 4 cylinder Subaru boxer engine and AWD shines. 🙂

That shuffle steering is gonna bite you in the butt, otherwise nice laps!
Good catch about the shuffle steering. I tend to shuffle steer when I am tired or under stress. Being relaxed in a timed event is crucial. It never was an issue for me. A high horsepower FWD/AWD with a manual gearbox, lots of camber/caster, has a lot of torque steer and requires my hands ready to shift in the corners if needed. 🙂
