One Hand Knitting Pt. 2
Many of you watched my first video where I demonstrated my technique for knitting with only one hand, so I have created part 2!
I will show you how I sew the panels together so that there is no ridge on either side. Then I review my one hand knitting technique for ribbing while working on a palindrome scarf. Finally, I show all eight of the afghans that I knitted for my grandchildren, and share some of my personal journey.

After my right arm was amputated, I figured out a way to knit with only my left hand.
💕🌸💕
Its great to see people love a craft so much that they find new ways to do it, so they don't need have to give it up.
Thank you! I've knitted off and on for almost 60 years, but now my left thumb is so painful I thought I'd have to stop. I'd heard about knitting belts and Portuguese knitting but never put 2+2 together! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻✊🏻
Mary I can never thank you enough. After watching your video , I became very emotional listening to you speak about God and your faith. That day changed my life. I felt that this was God's way of speaking to me personally by bringing me to you. Following this I have since started to have Bible Study and also attending church. Thank you so much and God bless you. ❤️
You are so inspiring!
Thank You
Mary you are a genius! My mum had her arm amputated and wants to knit
Well Mary, five years since your last video lol. Let’s hope we can see more of you and what you are up to. That’s a lovely pattern and so neat. Tfs 😊
Wow Mary that is amazing. This popped up out of the blue so I’m going to see if you have any more recent posts.
Mary, you are a knitting superstar!!!
Thank you for the kind words. Mary
Wow! ❤
Blessed lady
Love how determined you are!
I'm wondering if this will work for crochet. Im not knitter but I'm am a avid crochet and lost control my right arm anoxic stroke
this is amazing how you brought in tools and strategies from other cultures to make knitting possible for you! 💙
I found you today after getting some bad news about having a arm surgery next week. I am an avid knitter and spinner and just knowing I have to go without my knitting for a few months is really scaring me. I’m not a Christian but the lessons you’ve learned after your amputation have really touched me as I’m frightened to get a surgery. Thank you for being an example of strength and perseverance today.
thank you so much for sharing - such an enrichment of the knitting world and community! this helped me figure out a way to knit one-handed during an injury. i find it so amazing that knitting can take so many forms <3 passion for stitching knows no bounds
What a wonderful and strong woman you are! Thank you for sharing your story and your art
I can’t tell you how heart warming and impressive this is. All the best.
You are a breath of fresh air, a determined leader and a lovely person. Thank you so much for sharing this!!
This is probably the most amaxing thing i have ever seen somone do with one arm! Mind blown!
You are helping so many people by sharing your knowledge and including details of the possible sellers of knitting belts for people of all locations! Your camera angles are great. It is easy to see what you are doing since you both slowed your stitching and also showed normal speed for the viewer. You thought of everything to make it so viewers can understand knitting and use your methods! You are a blessing and an answer to so many viewers' prayers!!! The beautiful afghan you made for your granddaughter is a true gift from the heart. The photo at the end of your video is awesome. It is obvious you love your family and love knitting, too.
Mary I have a question what needles work with the knitting sheath and how long should they be I have ms and my left arm keeps giving me issues so want to try this. Thanks
Absolutely incredible and such a powerful testimony! I don't know how to knit but I do crochet and was just searching around on TH-cam when your videos popped up. Do you plan to do anymore videos? I surely hope so - you are so calming to listen to.
Amen my sister in Christ truly an inspiration God is using you thank you so much for sharing❤
Absolutely tremendous and inspirational Miss Mary I myself suffer from Ms and wheelchair-bound and I'm having more and more trouble as of lately using both arms especially with my left arm being the weakest I can't imagine without being able to knit and this looks like it may possibly be an answer to my prayers thank you for your video tutorial sharing your story and inspiration what an encourager God bless you
You are so amazing not giving up on your passion for knitting.
Would you mind sharing the name of that beautiful pattern? God bless you, Mary.
Thank you so much for sharing.
You are a very inspiring woman. I broke my wrist in November, then my leg. I haven’t been able to knit while they heel and it’s driving me crazy. Your story has given me something to work on! God Bless you Mary.
This video has just popped up on my feed and so glad it did. You are truly an amazing lady. I wish you and your family good health and happiness going forward into the New Year.
Wow. I sometimes struggle with 2 arms.
You Truly Are An Inspiration. I've Been Knitting For Almost 30 Years. I Think I Would Go Insane If I Wasn't Able To Knit. Where There's A Will There's A Way 🤗🤗🤗🤗 Thank You For Sharing.
Wow, you are an inspiration. Well done for still doing what you love to do. Years ago I had to have operations on my elbows. I was so upset that I couldn't knit anymore. We didn't have mobile phones or TH-cam then so I was waiting patiently until I could move my arms again. Thankfully they were repaired and I could carry on with it again. I love knitting, and crocheting and have just learnt how to do Tunisian crochet. I would hate it if I couldn't do it anymore. You have proved that you can overcome any obstacle. Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you, from the deepest part of my heart. This video consoles me in my suffering. Especially the end, thank you so much.
You are such an amazing woman. God bless you Thanks Susan
Thank you for this video. I've shared it with my cousin who is having issues with scar tissue after a mastectomy a couple years ago. Thank you.
Mary you are awesome. So much talent😂😂😂
You show the disabled are not useless which a lot think is the case. I, with life long epilepsy have done same as you with Xst and crochet designing by tracing onto graphs using 1 square per stitch as you would in Fair Isle.
I don't know why this video showed up on my feed but it was really lovely watching part 1 and seeing the update in part 2. Great knitting skills and very sweet to see you use your amazing talents to give your grandkids such beautiful gifts. I'm commenting, liking and subscribing so hopefully this video will spread more to people who need tips!
Every day is a gift from God, you're an amazing example of faith .Thank you.
You are so inspiring! Thank you for showing how you do this! ❤️
i'm a guy who starded knitting couple months ago, you're such a great inspiration for me; thank you for sharing
I LOVE YOU MARY!! BE BLESSED!
So very inspiring, Mary. Thank you for sharing your story and perseverance ❤
Thank you for this great sewing tuto ! I love your philosophy of changing worry into gratitude, that should help me face the wars. I wish you a super nice holiday period. May you have plenty of meaningful time with your loved ones. I wish us all Peace, Health, Empathy, Compassion, Love and Joy for the New Year. May we all have lots of time for creativity and crafting.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and faith!
Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us. I had seen your original video & hoped for more. So lovely to see all your beautiful and proud grandchildren holding your gift of love to each. God bless you richly in your journey and thank you for sharing not only your techniques but your active faith.
I'm not one-handed, but I decided to subscribe because I hoped it would help your videos reach people who are one-handed, and might be looking for a way to knit.
One time a teacher from a scandinavian folklore class said that people used to be out working on the farm and knitting with one hand and I have thought about that for like 10 years until today I finally understood how it might have worked!
Thank you for sharing this! I'm not sure I ever would have thought to use a locking stitch like this.
