I saw this band at Max's. Little Feat did a set and then Bonnie did a few songs with Freebo. One by one the players of Little Feat joined her. By a few more songs everyone was onstage. Lowell was still alive. We went back the next night to see it again.

Wow! what year is this from?.
This rendition was given to me without any history so I don't know. I have been told that it's has to be from after Lowell passed, so after 1979.
It’s from the Lowell tribute album released in 1997 and was recorded with the then-current lineup, so 1995-1997 I’d say.
I saw Bonnie Raitt with Little Feat at the Coliseum in Charlotte NC in 1976-77. Both were absolutely wonderful!

I don't know. This recording was handed down to me from my dad but didn't come with any backstory.
1997. This version is with all the members of Little Feat except Lowell, of course. It’s from the tribute album Rock and Roll Doctor: A Tribute to Lowell George. You can find it on Amazon. Btw, Bonnie did not learn to play slide from Lowell, but her gear, open A tuning, and set-up was with his guidance. The old blues players were her major influence. Bonnie had a relationship with Paul Barrere of Little Feat that inspired the song All That You Dream. Prior to that she had a liason or two with Lowell, but he was married.
@@rocnrolldr Thanks for the source information. And of course I knew that Bonnie Raitt was initially inspired by older slide guitar blues players like Mississippi Fred McDowell. She used to talk about it all the time years ago when she was just becoming popular on the touring circuit.

I was pleased to listen to this new band for me and a dramatic voice an incomparable Bonnie Raitt. She has never disappointed me, I've devotion to all, that Bonnie has done and doing now, and I'm also," blessed with her brilliance".
If anyone could emulate Lowell's slide it's Bonnie... She would've made a great Lead Singer for Da Feats! We can dream... 🎸

Bonnie learned her slide style from Lowell......she learned well......I agree this is one great version of the Little Feat classic......
She was playing slide way before meeting Lowell. But he influenced everyone who heard him.

Little Feat was huge back in my college days in the late 70s. I love this band, and this rendition of Cold, Cold, Cold with Bonnie is fantastic. Never heard it before, so thanks Aimee Elizabeth for posting!
Same here Jim. I was at East Carolina University during that time . My buddy Hank Macatherin turned me onto this awesome band . RIP my dear friend .

I found out about Lowell's death via an article in Rolling Stone, like six months after it happened. In my neighborhood library. The aritcle wasn't even about him, there was just a mention of him in the article, for whatever reason. I was floored.

My absolute favorite version of this song!! Love JD Souther's sublime version of Roll 'Um Easy as well and many others on this tribute album!
