No need to thank me! I've used Rosa for almost three years now and they've been one of my favourites for almost as long. I use them quite often in my videos, too. Thanks for your question and your kind comments! It's a great question. I've got a video in which I swatch all my French Ultramarines, I'll leave a link in another comment in a second in case you'd like to watch it. I don't have another ultramarine that granulates as much as Schmincke French Ultramarine. It turns everything into a super-granulating mix. It's actually my favourite paint, as well and while I like many of the others I have, none of them come close. So if it's granulation you're after, Schmincke's version can't be topped in my opinion. I haven't got any Old Holland, but they are expensive even here. I hope that helps, but feel free to ask for clarification if I've missed anything.

Aw thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying the series! I'd say it's better to use PY159 fresh from the tube. I have the W&N version, too, and if I know I'm going to use it, I drop some water into the pan to activate it. I panned it before I knew what I was getting into. Going forward, I'll be using it from the tube, though.

Thanks Dee! Re Alizarin Crimson, it depends a bit. Which one would you like to buy? Generally though, Alizarin Crimson is a tad warmer and not as bright as a magenta.

I have one PY42 that actually mixes nice natural greens with some blues, but it is sadly the exception to the rule. I didn't really have high hopes here tbh, seeing as the PB60 is already on the grey side. thank you!

@@awatercolourist It's Van Gogh's version. One of the first ones I painted a lot with, and I've been trying to find another one like it. I'm still looking.

@@awatercolourist It is interesting, isn't it? I might just have a soft spot for VG because they were the paints I used when I fell in love with watercolour again.

It granulates a tiny little bit, but Rosa themselves have marked it as non-granulating. I find there's just a little bit of gentle texture though.

I was quite surprised by how much I enjoyed the Rosa pastel colours. Still have to play with them some more, but I really like this Royal Blue. It's good for winter skies in general. Thank you Dee!
