When one reads about space as the new frontier a name may ring the bell to those in Las Vegas by the name of Robert Bigelow. The Bigelow and White families have a long history of pioneering in vessels to an unknown area to write their own chapter in history. From The White’s of Knight of Nottinghamshire, of Sir John White, 1558-1625, was a government official in the Kingdom of England. Sir John was twenty-two when he succeeded his father, Thomas White, as High sheriff of Nottinghamshire. Another notable White at the time was John White of London who was an artist of Queen Elizabeth I, who was given a commission to ferry a few brave souls to America to start a colony. In 1587/1588 they landed in Roanoke, now North Carolina. After a grueling few months John White was asked to return for more supplies. His daughter who was married to Ananias Dare had a daughter Virginia Dare was never to be seen again as he was allowed to return until 1590. After leaving to England he was not allowed to return due to the Spanish fleet in the area for another 2 plus years. After an exhaustive search, the only remnants was the words Croatan on a post and CRO on a tree a neighboring island. After his search, heartbroken, John returned to Ireland. Some time later we see the White family in CT and NJ with the name Woodbridge/White and Whyte/White. They would connect there with the Bigelow family and migrate to NY,WI and off to Oregon on the Oregon trail in. Wright wagon to OR and then Olympia, WA.
