It is very expensive for Greece for a house without views. I live in Antwerp, Belgium, I rent a new build appartment which has a big garden of 350 m2, 3 bedrooms, big bathroom with shower and separate bath tube, separate toilet, very spacy livingroom with American kitchen with cooking island, separate storing room with space for big fridge, washing machine and dryer. The rent is 950€ and includes a cellar and a big garage + costs comon spaces and cleening lady. Wages here are 3 to 4 times higher than in Greece. So they are just ripping you off, I’m sorry!

I am in Melbourne. My average electricity bill for a family is euro 250 - euro 350 per month. The truth is if you live in Greece or in Australia and you pay RENT at the end of the month you are left with nothing, it's the same conclusion. Yes, in Greece minimum wage is low but so are the living expenses. A average two bedroom apartment is euro 400 to euro 450 per week (AUD$650 per week) and this is for a apartment that is low in quality of location and not in a good suburb. And if you want a home for a family to live in, you are easily looking at euro 550 to euro 650 per week and this is if you are one hour drive from the City Centre or 45 minutes by train. If you want to be closer to the City Centre, don't ask ! The truth is, in Melbourne if you Rent you will most likely always Rent. Same in Greece, same in Australia.

I paid 275 this year for June and July for my studio condo in Calabria during my stay there this past summer. We do however run our air conditioner approximately 8 hours a day. For a separate fee of 50, I have it shut off/stop the contract then I get to restart the process in May when I go back every year.

Just so you know, this has nothing to do with you not being Greek. This water would cost exactly the same for me. It's quite sad when you consider the average salary and rent prices in Greece. It's not like you went into a small business with sketchy people, you literally went to one of Greece's biggest coffee and pastry chains.

You should have never paid for the water. Pay for the coffee and leave. They gave you the wrong water and you didn't get to drink it with your coffee. That's their problem, not yours. Let them learn and manage their business practices better.

Just tell them you want to return the bottle if it hasn't been opened. Of course she can take it back. If they refuse tell them you won't pay for the water and let them call the police (which they won't), they will make them take it back. And always check the prices before you order, especially if you are a foreigner and if they don't have a price list run away.

Sadly it is common practise to charge more tourists but the prices have skyrocketed for the last 2-3 years so i dont know.

It can happen ,depending on ‘’ cava ‘’ = the company that brings you soft drinks in your cafe / restaurant… If they bring to the cafeteria 250ml cause simply they don’t have 350ml one ,they cannot change the price from machine cause of new systems.. They had to inform you on the spot before you order it ,that’s the only fault of them

I've search in the e-food app and Flocafe is charging 3.10€ for the 330ml tin can of Souroti (this price is for delivery), so they might be charging more expensive when they serve you on site. I don't believe that the employees were trying to scam you. Their cash register software seems to be with prefixed prices, thus it has to be somehow certified by the state. After all it is a franchise and they have to follow the franchise price regulations. The actual price in super markets it is like that of the Aura sparkling water at about 0.75€ , but some products are always overpriced when sold from coffee shops or restaurants, including sodas and beers. For plain bottled water they are obligated by law to sell it at a maximum of 0.50€ for 0.5lt.

What happened is that all three of them are a bit on the thick side, to put it mildly. They didn't understand s**t of what you were asking them to do, which is take back the unopened bottle and charge you only the coffee.
