Team Reaction & Prediction: Springboks vs England
Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has announced his team to play England at Twickenham on Saturday, with some interesting calls for the matchday 23. Over on the other side of things, England has been forced to make some changes, but what can we decipher from either sides' picks?

Its actually the Pumas who are setting the bar for running rugby
Great vid.. if one plays positive rugby even at the end of a match when behind, you can live with the loss if it happens. I don’t think the English will feel so good for playing negatively and taking the losses twice in a row
I think the more important question is why does England do the opposite when they get a lead. I'm no expert but it appeared to me that every time they got a lead they switched to a more conservative style of play, looking like they were trying to prevent the wobs from scoring rather than trying to score more themselves. They had a 15-20 minute period of really excellent rugby that could have really blown the wobs out if it continued...but it didn't. Obviously some of that is on the wobs rolling up their sleeves and really battering the poms with their pack but it also appeared the poms switched to trying to pin the wobs back in their half and shut them down defensively. This happened every time they got the lead back.
I prefer Pollard at 10 & Esterhuizen pairing with De Allende, but we support the Springboks 100% regardless of selection. Go Bokke!!! ❤🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦!!!
Would've liked to see Esterhuizen playing against some of his old teammates (Smith etc), but De Allende is a solid option! Thanks for the comment - Jeremy
Looking forward to this game. An exciting squad for sure.
Gonna be a goodie! Love an ENG v BOK Game!
What a video! Keep it up!
My man! Back again! :) Thanks for checking all the vids! - Jeremy
I rate Sleightholme … the Boks must keep a close eye on him.
He's a weapon! Will probably be WAY more in the game than he was last week!
Goeie chat! Baie intressant!
Cheers, thank you for the comment and checking out the video! - Jeremy
Rassie has named a 5-3 bench against England. That and the Springboks speed in the outside backs means that theres a chance of a blowout if South Africa put points on early.
Preview incoming shortly! :P
Even I understand this analysis. Welldone 🎉
Thanks so much Lydia! Thanks for checking out the video! - Jeremy
Fab video!! 👏🏽
Running the ball is the Australian way. It's how the kids played the game growing up, it's in their DNA. It might not be the optimal style for the modern game, but it is the optimal style for Australia. The Fijian's would be a heck of a lot worse if they abandoned their running game and tried to scrum/ kick their way to victory.
Agreed, I think while it may be high risk in the current rugby landscape, the ambitious, quick passing and finesse nature of the Wallabies will bode them well going forward. It feels like there's a hint of their style from the golden age of Wallaby rugby (Larkham, Giteau, Beale etc). Thanks for the comment! - Jeremy
Please be a game analyst. You just good at that
Appreciate the comment, man! Find my stuff here! :) - Jeremy
Nice discussion! 🇿🇦❤
Cheers, thanks for the comment! - Jeremy
Hendrickse is not a bok material end of story
I think he's very good from a technical perspective, just seemed very slow and lacking urgency at every ruck - the Scottish were barging into the ruck and knocking him backwards. He needs to speed that up otherwise more physical teams will expose him big time at the breakdown.
Go Willie
He had a cracker! - Jeremy
The poor handling is extremely worrying. There were way too many knock ons that constantly reversed any momentum we were building at the time. If we were playing Ireland or NZ there is no way we win a game with so many errors
There were a lot - I'm pretty sure there'll be some ball retention and catch-and-pass drills this week 😅
Loved the loosie goosie Jem, lol. I cheered on every Wallaby try, it was awesome to watch.
Haha, they're just throwing it and backing their skills - love it! Thanks Timmy!
I believe England’s performances lack courage, which to me suggests a leadership issue.
Agreed, whether coaching or captaincy problems, it's evident there's a lack of confidence. Jamie George seemed to fall into the background, and Borthwick doesn't seem to own the issues. - Jeremy
Yoh bru, kwaai channel wat jy jol hier. Genieting myself kaklekker hierso.
Cheers Willim! Appreciate that comment man! - Jeremy
terrible performance, he couldn't take Hendrikse off cos of the 7-1 split
Thanks. Good analysis
Good analysis of the 2nd Mapimpi try! A lot of credit for the push-over try should go to Steenekamp. He absolutely destroyed his opponent.
Agreed! Notable difference to his influence in the scrum. Thanks so much for the comment & checking out the vid, Jacob! - Jeremy
Bokke didn't play all their 1st choice players.... Bokke didn't play at their best... Still beaten the best Scottish team by 17 points
Agreed, I think people are being quite critical of a bit of a mismatch team, who STILL were able to beat a really good Scotland side. Boks have depth, that's for sure. - Jeremy
💯 percent agreed
Scots played with 14 men after 10 minutes Yes? The Ref was a scandal for sure!!!
You missed the final scrum breaking Scotland to a try which was a beauty
I included it when discussing the scrums :) Wiese just dotting it over was purely a formality at that point :) Thanks for checking out the vid! - Jeremy
Willie is a seriously underrated player.
Still a league above. Critics have short memories and forget how influential he is. Thanks for the comment Hannes! - Jeremy
He is good. Planned move. Mapimps also had to chase hard, give him credit too
@@Q-Mashela No doubt! Mapimps covered a lot of ground to get there, and create the distraction in the midfield first. Great misdirection!
not by those who actually matter, his team mates and coach ;)

Howzit Jeremy, great video! You been grinding.
REALLY appreciate the comment and checking the vid so quickly! Labour of love! 😅 - Jeremy
If it ain't broken don't fix it. If things aren't going well explore the options in my opinion.
I like that approach - but when it comes to the Boks' and the Bomb Squad approach - even if Kolisi is having a ripper (for example), do you still put Kwagga on? - Jeremy
never take off a player that cooking I think you should replace the props and the heavy defence positions
Yeah, I think if someone is in the flow of the game, especially a flyhalf or scrumhalf, it's important to keep them on. You need people who have been/are reading the game well to be on the field. Thanks for the comment man! - Jeremy
@@RugbyInformer thx for replying i love your channel😃
@@jgrobbelaar21grobb36 Amazing feedback, thanks man! More videos to come. - Jeremy
My understanding of why it works is that it caused a stutter run effect. You think he has the ball, but the speed with which he gives it up to the next player gains crucial time for the overlap.
It's forward
you are wrong
It's not. Look at the replay at about 0:20 - it does actually go backwards with respect to the pitch.
One of the best passes I've seen.
I agree
It’s genius, gotta respect these world class plays by the Irish 👌 well won! Love from 🇿🇦
My favourite performance on the weekend had to be Mapimpi. I thought he was quick, physical and made some great decisions on the day. Nice to see him looking hungry again.
He looked SO good with ball-in-hand, and seeing him doing a lot more around the midfield was great too, rather than just snoozing on the wing. The winger competition in SA is so fierce and the moment, so you have to offer 'more', and I think Mapimpi has upped his game lately. Thanks for the comment Timmy! - Jeremy
Great summary for anyone needing to catch up on this week's URC goings on.
Good hands good support to a great try
Constant support runners! So good!
I love Andre Esterhuizen but i think his last chance was the Portugal game and got a red. Think his discipline is an issue
There's not many options at 12, he'll make it at the Springboks.
I think you may be onto something there. Perhaps the Bok coaches just feel he's too much of a liability discipline-wise for those tighter games. Thanks for the comment man! - Jeremy
@RugbyInformer Fassi is being given chance but he's had disciplinary issues in the past few matches for both the Sharks and Springboks. Jasper Wiese was a bit like that for club mostly but has been better at international level.
@@HenryMoyo774 It's a good point but I do think Fassi's have been unfortunate circumstances - one comes to mind where he was going for a high-ball and caught the defender with his foot. They probably expect a few moments like that from fullbacks challenging in the air, whereas Esterhuizen goes into tackles a little carelessly at times. - Jeremy
Great Analysis! The Lions winger looks insanely quick. thanks for the vid
Edwill is rapid! He must be up there with the fastest in SA. Thanks for checking out the vid! - Jeremy
@@RugbyInformer So explosive!
He is!!
@@drfanierudolph Would love to see a race of the local wingers!
Boks never played so clinical and beautiful rugby. Their 10 in this game plays like Carlos Spencer & Stephen Larkham. He just has it, the Midas Touch!
Was probably their best performance since the pre-World Cup game against the ABs in London. Thanks for the comment! - Jeremy
@@RugbyInformer yeah and he was first five too🤣. Would like to see him go one v one against my boy DMac.

Genial 👏👏 Saludos 🤙
Boks have taken to "Tonyball" like ducks to water!! More power to them...damn ain't it grand to be South African right now!! 😁😁
Proving the sceptics wrong! I think many underestimated how skilful many of the Bok players are with ball in-hand, even the big boys! Thanks for the comment. - Jeremy
wow thanks for showing some footage with your analysis
