The only brand I knew of from wayyyy back in the early 90's was Hunter. I didn't know that brand, Encon was from India. I have honestly never seen metal blade home ceiling fans. I've seen ceiling fans with metal blades that must spin at very high velocity, something like 250 RPM or so, mostly seen in the Middle East and India, from photographs and films/video, of course. Ever since I was a kid, I honestly felt uneasy about those. I bet they would make excellent finger/hand choppers! Kidding. I may be the only weird one that feels that way. But very cool all around.

the bulbs say 120-277 because they can be direct wire to mains voltage (not all of them can however) and 277 is industrial lighting voltage, so its saying basically no ballast needed, i think a few years ago (like 2016-2018) General Eelctric had a conversion LED kit that actually in the kit instructions told you to remove/unwire the ballast and wire the sockets directly to switched mains power for 115V applications, and had a part number for 277v applications for an LED Driver/transformer that you wired in for use with 277v industrial lighting

The issue on the T12 LED tubes on T8 ballasts might be that T8’s and T12’s operate at different currents. T12’s operate at a higher current level. Many of these LED tubes will operate on line voltage. You can look up specifications on Feit’s website.

Do those LEDS support ballast bypass wiring? If so that is your best option. 13:55

Nice video. I was thinking about trying to use it as a monitor because I love the white design. There is a post in apple discussions with the title "How to use iMac late 2006 20 inch as Monitor?" (I can't put the link here) where it says it can be done with command + F2 (and a mini DVI to HDMI cable) but I have not found more information. Have you ever tried it? In general it is said that it cannot be done because it was not available for these older models but that person did manage to do it.

I have that same wraparound fluorescent light in my bedroom closet. It originally had an F20T12 rapid start ballast but I stuck in an Advance R2BS40TP ballast in it for 2 FT40/2G11 lamps. What happened to the original F20T12 ballast? I had an accident and stuck in 2 F17T8 lamps and got a nasty surprise when it nestled the original F20T12 ballast nicely in the potty right before my eyes. I originally always wanted to convert it to 40-watt 2G11 but I didn't want to do that until later. Still an awesome fixture nonetheless.

Chromium Legacy supports Lion. Jazzny and Wicknix's Nightly 55 (now rebranded as the new and improved Interweb) supports Snow Leopard. Tensixtube still works on Snow Leopard and above. Wicknix also created a lightweight SLAX Linux Virtual Box machine for those times in Snow Leopard when you just really need Chrome or modern Firefox.

I don’t have the same interest in fans that I do for the lamps, but it was neat to see how well that fan cleaned up. The place I used to work had a fan very much like that one and I was always impressed by how well it worked.

Why do you have Christmas decorations up in March?

I lived out of Marriotts for about 5 years while traveling for work. Thank’s the classic Townplace Suites layout. Townplace and Residence Inn were always my favorite. I can’t believe I never noticed that the mirrors used fluorescent lights. Also, I hate that the showers don’t have doors. Even with the heated mirrors that some Marriotts have, the mirror always gets completely fogged up after using that shower.

I would have picked up a cheapie LED bulb and upgraded the hotel's lamp by swapping that super cool energy hog! Yes, 33 watts? fluorescent light bulb. It would be a win-win for all! You'd end up with a super cool light bulb for your collection and the hotel would save money in energy usage. 😉
