Powerwerx USBbuddy2 Portable Powerpole (12V) to USB (5V) Converter: taps into the battery with Powerpoles and gives us a USB female port to plug the cable for the Navigator into - not necessary for install, see below
amzn.to/48IkDsn
Powerpole connectors, hubs, etc: None of this is really neccesary if you are just going to plug your nav into your 12v socket, but i wanted to hide the cables and I am also running power to 2 radios in the truck, so using Powerpoles connected directly to the battery made the most sense for me

My 95 has all original parts. I need to do this along with ball joints and rear springs and shocks.
Thanks this will be useful in the future
Glad you think so!
❤🎉
I just replaced my leaf springs and shackles on my truck. It’s way higher in the back now. Think I’m gonna go with these struts and shocks as well. Is your truck level now after installing them?
That's what happened to me too. It was a pretty steep rake to the front with the new springs. I let mine settle in for a few weeks then got the front struts that measured out to what i thought would still give me a forward rake of about 1/2 - 3/4" and thats what it turned out to be (after the front alignment was done.)
Thinking about going with the Bilstein OME 2-2.5” coilovers. Did you replace your upper control arms?
Stellar video!
Much appreciated, thank you!
Any issue with melting the housing?
Not so far!
Could I apply this for my 2000 4Runner?
Check with the folks at TEQ, but I'm pretty sure they make 4R lights
Hey Tacoma Guy. Nice detailed install video. I have a 2001 and was thinking about the same set up. How is the ride quality on road? Considerably stiffer? Thanks.
From my old worn out shocks, yes. Just spent several days on poorly maintained forestry roads and the ride difference is amazing. Way better.
I have a 01 prerunner that's not 4x4. Do I need the 6112 or is there an alternative?
Mines not 4x4. You can get different shocks, i went with the 6112 because i didn't want to mess around with the springs, this came all assembled as a completed strut.
Was the lift height accurate with what the diagram said?
I got slightly more lift than the documentation said. Thats why i did the rears first, let them settled in, then i did the front. The stance is balanced, with about .5" higher in the rear.
No way I'm hacking up my 20 year old wiring harness
You don't hack up the wiring harness. Its all plug and play. Worst thing you are doing is tapping wires.
Will that cable hold it on and not unravel itself going down the road? Mine doesn't have any through bolts or anything to secure it.
Not 100% sure what you are asking...the cable holds it up quite well and has since 2003. The bracket holds the tire in place from bouncing around left and right.
Thank you sir
You are welcome!
How many feet do the upgraded headlights, on low beam, project onto the road? I understand these headlights only project out further and are not brighter in high beam mode. Is that true? What do you light and not like about the headlights? Thank you.
The difference between these and stock is huge. They are almost too bright! Major upgrade for sure. The light is whiter than the stock yellow bulbs. The high beams are very centered and they shoot far far off into the distance. I like them. Could they be a little more dispersed like i have in my other vehicles, yes but these are designed to shoot down the trail so i think the tradeoff is distance vs spread, which in our case is fine. The light cutoff is very dramatic on low beams, and they do project a sort of odd, uneven light pattern along the top but I'll take it due to the huge increase in light output - i got these mainly to keep the wife safe at night when she'd driving the truck - to be seen and to see better, and to that end i would say mission accomplished. There is a lot of wiring that comes along with the lights, and I question some of the long term viability and waterproofing of the connections over time, thats my one major concern with this upgrade since the engine bay gets pretty wet when it rains.
How do you like the ride quality on these? I have the OME Nitrochargers on my 03 with the 881 springs in the front and it rides really harsh, so I am looking to upgrade to the 6112's. Do you still feel every little bump in the road on these? Thanks!
So i don't have experience with your setup, I'm going from the OEM shocks to the 6112's so take my assessment with a grain of salt here, but I think the ride is great. Over bumps and things the truck recovers very quickly and overall the truck feels way more solid (I also added Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT Tire Size: 265/75R16 which have made a big difference.) But the best feedback i can give you is from my wife, who drives the truck all the time, she thinks it rides much better, feels more solid and isn't bouncy or harsh at all. Hope that helps some.
What was your reason of you lifting your taco. I own 02 taco pre runner v6 2wd I am primarily use it for city/hwy driving does the those shock have stock height ?
No, not stock. I wasn't really planning on lifting it but once I replaced the rear leaf springs with heavier duty General Springs and Bilstein 5100's it gave me almost a 3" boost in the back (I was going for what I call "stock plus" at the time) so I wanted to level the front out a little bit. It worked out ok, because then I went with slightly bigger tires also: Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT Tire Size: 265/75R16. You can adjust the 6112's to the height you want, you can go stock height is my understanding.
Awesome upgrade! How long did it take to get your's? I'm still waiting for mine to come in.
I want to say between 2 or 3 months from the time I ordered it until it arrived.
Can I use these on a 4 cylinder 2wd prerunner?
I think so, but check with the folks at @shocksurplus first, thats where I got mine

Thanks!! Amazon has them: amzn.to/4alx4u7
I've had my 6112's since 2018 and they've served me well. I've always had my Tacoma aligned. I noticed my 2015 Tacoma recently started squeaking from the front suspension/shocks. Pretty common isnt it?
Metal parts and joints can get dry over time as can bushings. You can lubricate them with oil or sprays.
@@TheTacomaGuyDIY what type of spray or lubricant? Any names in particular?
You can try plain old WD-40 or WD-40 Silicone Spray, or even PB Blaster. Don't go crazy with it, try a little at a time in targeted areas. Sprays can collect more dirt which could end up exacerbating the problem in the long run.
