    I'm working on my first build and am torn on this subject, Timbren, torsion (Flexiride) or leaf spring, do you have any more Pro's and Con's video's on this subject? All of my 4x4's have been straight axle and seem fine and go anywhere, so is this a subject that we are all over thinking, and spending, I mean the "Ride" is a misnomer" because no one is in the trailer when going down the trail anyway.

    I used the 3500 pound dual axle set up on my home built 16 foot aluminum trailer to carry my Can am Defender lone star. I love them for the ride but I should have gone with heavier axles. I reinforced heavy around the axles and so far alignment is perfect.

    Question: how is the rattling? It looks like the drawers are just sitting in the drawer space without any slides/hardware holding it in place. Does this system make noise when driving? Truly curious. Edit: looks like you do have sliders!!!! And you can remove the drawer still! That’s cool!

    Hey guys I commented on an older video of this but I didn't get a reply. I was just curious and wanted to get from your point of view what makes this drawer system more than double the price of the deck drawer system?

    • @shwoffroad
      @shwoffroad 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for reaching out! There are three main reasons our drawer systems are a better value. Space efficiency, drawer extension, and material choice. We use rectangular framing in the chassis and drawers, allowing us to optimize every square inch. Our tall half drawer system contends with a full Decked system when it comes to volume. Our drawers extend out 100% up to 60". There is nothing worse than loosing access to 20% of the drawer in a midsize truck. Finally, our fiberglass composite holds up better in extreme climate applications. Other features likely true drawer bulb seals, full wing access, and 400lb per drawer payload also set us apart.

  • @Harps555

    I know this is and old vid so idk if ill get a response but can i ask what makes this over twice the cost of the decked system? Aside from the drawers can be pulled out farther? Im just genuinely curious

    • @shwoffroad
      @shwoffroad 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The sleeping platforms detach from the drawer system so that the seats can be raised back into the upright position. The platforms can be removed from the vehicle or stacked on top of the drawer system when not in use.

    I did a custom install on my travel trailer, I am still on the fence if I am happy with it. First off, Timbren has great customer service and has helped me several times. With that said, I am on my 3rd set of "springs" in the first year. The initial springs were rated for 5200lbs. My trailer weighs 4500 loaded, subtract the 10% for tongue weight and I should be in the ballpark for those springs. When I installed the system with the 5200lb springs and then lowered my trailer they bottomed out. Timbren then sent me the 7000lb springs, no charge. They worked for a couple of trips but then I noticed over a couple of months that the springs started to sack out, eventually they were compressed so much they were useless and had deformed permanently just from the trailer being parked. I contacted Timbren again and they sent me even bigger springs, so far those are better but I still think they are settling and I don't have the full travel which is a bummer since the system I have only has 2.75in of travel to begin with. Here is the video I did of my install. th-cam.com/video/n2TK_6Lv3kw/w-d-xo.html

  • @Average_jose_outdoor_reviews
    @Average_jose_outdoor_reviews 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Question, since this is a platform that can be removed how quick is the install and break down? Could you keep the drawers in at all times and add the sleeping platform when needed? For travel purposes, my dog needs to sit in the back seats because he gets motion sickness if the seats are folded down. Can the platform be folded in half and kept on top of the storage until getting to the destination? Or could I put the platform on the roof rack? I can’t seem to find any video reviews or demos of the install anywhere.

    • @shwoffroad
      @shwoffroad 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The sleeping platform is a simple platform with an L bracket that rests on the drawer system. This makes install and uninstall very quick. When not in use, the sleeping platforms completely detach from the drawer system and can be stored wherever necessary. The drawers are fully functional without the sleeping platform.

    Just thinking outloud, it seems like a good way to get the alignment correct, at least when building a trailer from scratch, would be to use the crossmember slots to insert a crossmember first and use it square up the "axles" Then build the trailer accordingly/shim the mounting points appropriately.

    Would love to feel like you all were a multibrand customer based, custom drawer/storage solution. However every vid and ppl I’ve spoke with are mainly taco/Toyota focused. As in all the pros nd cons listed listed first are Toyota in print and video. Perhaps have other employees also make videos as well; or you should drive more than your own car. So whilst speaking to us consumers, it’s not blatantly obvious that you love your Toyota nd that’s your measurement standard for all rigs IFS or not.

    • @shwoffroad
      @shwoffroad ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback! Jake (the host for the daily drop) actually doesn't own a Toyota. His main rig is an LT swapped JK. Guests will be joining us on the channel soon, stay tuned! Much of our print and blog posts feature Toyotas because they make up most of the market share for storage solutions. But we have some material on the site around other vehicles like the Gladiator. We will try our best to diversify more in the future!

  • @shaweehillsworkshop4226
    @shaweehillsworkshop4226 ปีที่แล้ว

    I mostly stay away from vertical drawers as they waste space. One area that is hard to utilize efficiently is the wedge between the back of the second row and the drawer system. With 2 horizontal drawers this wedge is relatively small, however once you make a stack of drawers 20+ inches tall the wedge gets rather large and the drawers can't be as long so you lose usable drawer space and gain a hard to use wedge space

  • @overlandtowater
    @overlandtowater ปีที่แล้ว

    And yet again I used one of Wes's tutorials to build a tilt fridge slide but instead of a fridge I built it to fit my cooler, worked great I could even drain the cooler without removing it from the truck but later I realized it took up my sleeping area and removed it. I thought about making the whole slide easily removable with quick disconnect hinges but scrapped the idea for simplicity.
