Outfeed table cabinets
มุมมอง 1885 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, I build cabinets with drawers for the outfeed/assembly table I built in my last video. The cabinet boxes were constructed from 3/4 in plywood using screws. The drawer boxes were constructed from 1/2 in plywood. The drawer bottoms have rabbets which were glued into dados in the drawer sides and front and back. The butt joints of the drawers were reinforced with dowels. Full extens...
Building an Outfeed/Assembly table
มุมมอง 2246 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, I build myself a fantastic new outfeed/assembly table for my table saw to replace the old, rickety, "temporary" table I've had for 13 years. The new table is dead flat with a phenolic plywood top and t-tracks for clamps, stops, etc. The base starts from rough sawn hard maple which I mill and glue up to yield ~ 3 1/4 inch square stock for the base. The base is joined with 4 large ...
Building a Raised Planter Bed
มุมมอง 926 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, I build a raised planter bed for growing vegetables in our yard. Borrowing from others designs, I build a frame from treated lumber 2 by 4's. The inside of the frame was closed with corrugated steel roofing material. The bed was filled first to approximatealy a third of its depth with logs, twigs, and other wood. On top of this wood went 2 yards of 70/30 topsoil compost mix follo...
Repairing a table leg
มุมมอง 2197 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, I repair a broken chair leg. This leg bolts into the chair with two bolts through a bracket. One of the threaded inserts got pulled out along with some splintered wood when the leg broke. I talk through and show how I went about cutting out a section of the leg and gluing on some nice strong new oak material. I then trimmed this to the right final shape, drilled a properly placed...
Repairing a kitchen cabinet door
มุมมอง 1.4K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, I bring a badly broken kitchen cabinet door back into useful service. The door frame had broken through at both top and bottom, with one break through the original joint, and the other through wood next to the joint. Prior repairs made my job more challenging and frequently confusing. I cleaned up all the joints and breaks so that was able to glue them back together using 2 part ...
Wall hanging bike rack
มุมมอง 848 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video, I build a wall hanging bike rack from a wierd leftover from a slab Walnut. I was able to build and finish this in one day and hang it the next moring. It should be plenty strong with both 5 mm Domino's and 4 inch screws holding the arms on and 3 inch SPAX screws into studs on the wall. Please enjoy!
Personalized Wine Display Box
มุมมอง 385ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I create and attach a large "M" in cherry to a wine box from Chappellet Winery for a display item for my wine cellar. The cherry came from a tree that had to come down in friends' yard, and the box came from other friends. Prior to preparing and attaching the letter, I first inlaid a small circle of pine into the top of the box to remove the logo. The letter was finished with Dan...
Dovetailed Cherry Stepstool
มุมมอง 163ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I build a nice stepstool for my wine cellar. I start with a roughsawn cherry slab and construct the stool using hand cut dovetails. I used the bandsaw to remove much of the waste in the tails and pins as this wood was very hard and thick. I finished the stool using natural colored Danish Oil. I hope you enjoy, please feel free to like, subscribe, comment, and share. 00:00 Introdu...
Custom Wine Storage: Episode #9 Cabinets with glass racks
มุมมอง 426ปีที่แล้ว
In this continuation of my wine cellar build series, I finish(?) the entire project with two upper cabinets with wine glass storage underneath. The cabinets are built from oak plywood with solid white oak hardwood face frames and trim. The doors are cope and stick joined with oak frames and oak plywood panels attached with European style soft close hinges. The slots for wine glass stems in the ...
Building a tricky wine cellar cabinet
มุมมอง 160ปีที่แล้ว
This is a short video on building a complicated/tricky wine cellar cabinet. This video is to accompany the larger build video on the entire wall section of cabinets into which this fits. This is an upper bin cabinet with a funky angled top to fit under the stairs while maximizing it's capacity. This cabinet is the upper right corner of the set of bins in the larger build video here: th-cam.com/...
Custom Wine Storage: Episode #8 2'nd set of bin cabinets
มุมมอง 524ปีที่แล้ว
In this continuation of my wine cellar build series, I build a whole wall over 9 feet wide of wine bin cabinets. With this build and the final trim being completed in the room, my cellar is done - at least done for now. The cabinets are built from oak plywood with solid white oak hardwood trim. I hope you enjoy this video, please feel free to check out more of my work. If you enjoy wine and wan...
Wine box wall shelves
มุมมอง 580ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I create some cool wall shelves from wooden wine boxes a friend gave us. I will walk you through the use of a story stick to center the boxes between two wall maps and find the stud locations for screws. I then cut down the box lid I had previously removed to go inside the box and hide the screws. This was a simple and fun project once I decided on what I was doing. I hope you enj...
Custom Wine Storage: Episode #7 Wine Bin Cabinets
มุมมอง 728ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I build custom white oak wine bin cabinets in my wine cellar. I start with a simple plywood platform which is leveled and screwed into the wall for a solid base. Next, I build cabinet boxes using white oak plywood. For these, I used pocket screws and square drive assembly screws all in locations that will never be seen. The upper units have display racks which took some effort to...
Custom Wine Storage: Episode #6 Concrete counters
มุมมอง 358ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I show the process of building concret countertops using the system from Concrete Countertop Solutions. First, I covered the cabinets with concrete backer board before building a casting form with countertop forms and returns with melamine. Next, I added fiber mesh suspended within the form using Z clips. After that, I recruited my buddy Nick to help (OK, do) the mixing and pouri...

Love your channel I was wondering if you did commissions I was trying to get a light saber rifle created the one that Jocosta nu used
Just stop with the music videos. How about sharing your expertise?
Hi Jeff What thickness was the board
It's about 3/4 of an inch thick. Thank you+
2 blg 4 card box
Hate the music
Thanks you❤
Thank you!
Thank You , for the tips !!! I build children's chairs 2 years to 6 year old . And planning to scoop out the seats . These chairs are ladder back and there's a few other designs. With no metal , tenon and mortise.
That sounds like a great project. Enjoy building them, I'm sure the kids will love them.
Great video! I was wondering, what is the tool called that you use at 11:18?
Much appreciated! There, I was using a small block plane. This was one that I bought used and tuned up to make it a user. I keep two of them, this one for coarse work and one for finer work. Thanks for watching and commenting!
If you played the video at normal speed it would be easier to see exactly which bolts etc. you remove so a person could learn how to do it themselves.
Thats true, thanks! It took me quite a while, could be a good test of attention spans. :)
A really nice looking table top Jeff. Would routing out the sections for the t-tracks not have been easier? Also what grade or plywood did you use under the phelonic ply?
Thank you! I considered routing, and it might have been an equivalent or better option. I just used 3/4 Sandply from the orange place as the first layer. I appreciate your watching and commenting!
If I wanted to listen to music I would turn on my radio
Nice shop
Much appreciated! I'm planning a shop tour video at some point to show all the changes since I first built it.
Great cellar 🤙🏻🍷 I would have loved to see you do the brickwork wallpaper in there too.
Thank you! I considered it and also thought about stacked stone on the back wall but decided to keep it simple in the end.
nice looking box!! I 'BET'..lol they liked it.
I see what you did there. Much appreciated! 😊
Hello! I love the video! What did you use for the wash? Oil or Acrylic paint? And what did you use for the silver scratches on the edges?
Thanks! I used an acrylic wash, due to ease of cleanup and drying time though I do prefer an oil wash these days, the silver was Molotow chrome pen
@@JeffMarxWoodworking Thank you!
I don't understand why you worked so hard to make it exactly square. I thought that it might be so that it sat in your chuck better for drilling, but then you did the drilling on a drill press. I could understand making the ends square so that you get a straight one on a drill press. But, it seems like extra work if you are just going to turn it round on the lathe.
The goal in getting the rough rectangular blank was to have the grain running lengthwise. As you pointed out, square was less important prior to turning. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you!
Jeff, I am trying to replicate what you did, but i dont seem to have a bull nose live center. I am wondering what kind of live center piece you used.
Sorry, it's been a while since I did this project. I have several live centers. The one I use the most has a small cone with a center spike, but any one you have should work adequately. Good luck, I hope yours turns out great and gives you lots of utility and fun on your lathe!
One thing I noticed on all pressure vessel lids is that the open threaded end of the valve assembly is facing directly downwards. Upon restoring ambient pressure the air rushes at taifun speeds throug that very open end, blowing the resin outwards. The reason is simple: There is no deflection unit anywhere. Adding a simple deflector disc will cannel the air in all directions across the surface area of your lid before being redirected downwards the vessel chamber wall, greatly reducing the airspeed and force applied. This will also prevent lightweight objects being tossed and justled uncontrollably. I have seen food-grade vaccuum chambers equipped with cover plate on the inlet port that prevent F5 tornado speeds inside the chamber as the vaccuum is destroyed.
Interesting observation, thank you.
WHAT IS THAT THIN YELLOW TAPE CALLED
It is Taniya masking tape
Would you recommend can spray paint? I do not have an air brush 😢
Montana gold is the best brand of spray paint I’ve used the tape is Taniya masking tape
where did you get the plans to build the ying and yang box?
I purchased the Model 35 - Yin Yang pattern from David Watkins. This was a fun project, I hope you get to enjoy buildin gone. I actually did several of them as gifts. Thank you for watching and for your interest!
Nice video
Thank you!
I’m sorry, did you use a chalk marker to weather?
I didnt use chalk, but you could use earth tone chalk to simulate dust and dirt then fix it in place with thin pva glue or paint medium
@@JeffMarxWoodworking what did you use to reveal the silver underneath the paint? I assumed that was a chalk marker that you later wiped away to reveal the silver
This is what i was looking for! Thank you so much🙏🏻
Thank you!
@@JeffMarxWoodworking 😊
great job, if you ever have a problem with the fabric wearing out or tearing around the screw, trying either melting a hole with a hot screw or a small grommet. The magnet switch is a great idea.
Thanks!! I’ll have to try that!
Nice! Did you sand before finishing? And how many coats of poly?
@annagardberg9765 yes, I sanded to 320. I think I did 3 coats knowing they'd be experiencing some condensation from cold glasses. Thank you!
I have a similar issue but with a problem: the peaked roof of a birdhouse. I can’t figure out how to clamp it. Maybe drive 3 screws in at the peak as a base for the clamp?
You might be able to doublestick tape or temporarily glue some angled blocks to it as clamping cauls. Ideally you'd set that up so the clamping force is directly across your angled joint. Good luck!
Nice. I'd say the only thing missing is a scope but that's just my aesthetic sense. Good use of plumber's epoxy; I might try that.
You are 100% right my sketch had a scope I just couldn’t figure it out
Cool
Thank you!
what size nails did you use for the anchor to concrete?
I believe I used 2 inch powder actuated nails for the brackets.
namaste
🙏
How did you know that I put a wooden cutting board in the dishwasher and now I'm panicking because it was $100
Uh oh! 😮
Very nicely done. A contractor would have charged over 20k
Thank you! I'm confident that I saved a ton of money, but I'm so slow I likely would have been fired if I wasn't working for myself. I had more fun building it than I could ever afford to buy. :)
Very nice, really like the floor nice color 😁
Thank you! The floor is lvt strips glued to the concrete underneath so we don't ever need to worry if some water comes in. We really like how it looks too.
Nice!
Thank you!
Nice build, looks awesome!
Thanks!
GOOD THING YOU HAD YOUR GLUE MANAGER ON SITE TO SUPERVISE!!
Always helpful! 😅
Late to the party, but what kind of latex did you use? I got two types for masking and it’s too runny to do anything with. Great video by the way!

Yes 100% I used one after receiving a few comments definitely safetly first
Very nice video! It would be helpful if you had a list of everything used, sandpaper, finish, paint type, etc. Thanks! 👍
Just about over my head as a newbie. I would appreciate losing the music and adding some commentary for rookies. But hey, who am I.
I appreciate your feedback! It's always helpful to know who would like explanations vs. not.
Excellent piece of work. Where did you get your wood stamp from. Thanks
Thank you! My logo burners (I have 2 sizes) are from brandingirons.com. I've been really happy with them.
So cool!
Awesome video, go birds!
Thank you, and GO Birds!
Have you ever used danish oil on the corks as well as the wood box trim.
I haven't tried that, it's an interesting idea. I would be a little worried about what it would do with a hot stone or pan on it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
