I've looked at many pottery videos and for me this throwing tutorial is one of the best I've seen. Her description of what she is doing at each stage makes it much easier for me to emulate. Thank you.
@@davidedwards3616 thank you for your kind words David. I appreciate you following along 🙂
When you make your dragonfly tool, do you measure the outside diameter or the inside? to make the horizontal piece
Hello! Thank you so much for this video, I've been wanting to know what to expect as I am going for the first time this year (2025)! I would love to meet up with you if you have any desire for another pottery buddy while there if you're going again! I feel like I will be a bit of a lost sheep lol.
Utilizing tools instead of hands 👌 amazing idea, I hate the feeling of really wet clay
❤
Where did you get that snowflake cutter please Kara? 👍😁
@@thecatswhiskers I think these were just eBay.
Would you like to be friends with me? I don't know much English though.
Can a stoneware glazed pot be Raku fired?
Congratulations I'm watching form india
An absolutely perfect video. Thank you!

so cute ❤

Never, ever forget to rim.
Love your content! QQ..where are your shelves from?
Cat didn’t realize it became internet star 😅 Thank you for lovely video
Very helpful, thank you 😊
Glad it was helpful!
How do you secure the bowl to the wheel? I usually use lil' blobs of clay to anchor it, but that causes me problems when trying to trim the whole bowl. I don't see any blobs on yours, how are you gettting it to stay in place?
I dampen the rim. This creates an airlock which keeps the bowl attached to the wheel. Try it!
@@KaraLeighFordCeramics thank you!!!
Lovely video! Can I ask.... Do the under-bed storage boxes have completely flat bottoms inside? If so, can you point me to where you get them? I have some but they have ridges which isn't ideal. Also... do you dry your thrown pots to leather hard and ready to trim in the open on those shelves or do you slow the drying down by placing them into boxes before then? Just wondering about s cracks. Thanks and keep up the lovely videos!
Thanks David 🥰 Yes my ones have a flat base. I think I got them from Wilkos which is a shop in the UK (not sure where you’re based) You could prob get them on Amazon too. I dry my pots in the open and then place them in the box when they’re leather hard. Our weather is generally wet so I can do that.
I love seeing other people’s set ups, thanks so much for sharing☕️🍁
My pleasure, so happy you enjoyed it 😊
Did you manage to set it up? I’m struggling at finding how to reduce the propane intake
It's still on the to do list, it hasn't been easy to find engineers. I'd like to get it set up this autumn if poss.
Beautiful! Where do you keep your kilns?
Thank you! I'm spoilt and have a separate shed for my kilns.
❤❤😊
😊

Very nice, what sice building is that
It's 3 meters by 4 meters.
Where can I find a table like this please?
I share all the details of the furniture in my studio over on my blog. Check out my website.
What a lovely space!
Thank you!
What a wonderful place to create.
Thank you. I feel very lucky.
What a dream place 😍
Thank you 🙏
Hi Kara, I was going through your lovely book and was searching for videos - I noticed a lot of others were not turning the cut block 90 degrees. They were all making sure the striations is always in the same direction. Is there any significant difference in the methods?
In particular I was watching videos from Michael Wendt and The Pottery Wheel channels on this method.
I turn it 90 degrees so that any air bubble in the middle of the clay are then on the outside if that makes sense. They're then forced outwards when slamming the clay down.
@@KaraLeighFordCeramics Oh, I see. Thank you so much!
So beautiful
Thank you :-)
Nice. The key is to have a sense of rhytm and timing. You're tapping precisely in tune with the rotation speed, merely adjuting how hard you tap.
Precisely.
WHAT
Ha ha!
What kind of bat are you using?
These were from a guys who made them on Ebay. They dont sell them anymore but I like Hartley and Noble for their batt systems.
Lovely 😍
Thanks 🤗
