Rogers Drums - drum studio rundown for a 70´s vibe
I recently got a Rogers 72 (script logo with modified hardware) from @badgesdrumshop . This is how I ended up recording it for a 70´sound (I'm not a mixer man, but did some minor adjustments in the box, light EQ and reverb).

Awesome aurora borealis from my home studio in Norway

We had clear skyes this winter night, and a wild aurora borealis. So I grabbed my camera and went out on the terrace and shot some stills.. Sorry for off topic video, since this is a drum channel. Could add some drum sounds to the video, but...didnt.

Studio Tour - How I record my drum kit - Hayman vintage drums
มุมมอง 3K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Just a little quick tour of my set up. I vary miking a bit, but have ended up using this set up lately. Trying to learn to deal with phase issues when having a lot of mikes, leaving several options for the client to produce the sound they are looking for. Always use your ears, and check, check and check phase. I recently got a 1973 Hayman, and it sound great. The snare I use here is a Craviotto...

While not be able to play concerts these days, I´m goofing around at my home studio. So I figured, how does my different snare sound on the same setting when recording? Same mic, same preamp, same setting all though. Just swapping snares. Well, here we go... I was surprised my COB and Dunnett had the same tone right of the shelf. Must be my default tuning :D Craviotto Shell (Premier special edi...
Sonor Benny Grebb Snare - Straight out the box

Got got my new snare, took it out of the box and just pressed Record. Just goofing around, so don't mind the playing. Its such a great snare. It has a great snap and a tremendous range. I have, after the video was recorded, tuned it up and down, had a little go with it, and well, I really like it!
Yamaha Stage Custom Hip - Recorded in my home studio

So I bought this kit from my local store (please support your local store), and took it for a spin in my home studio. Its a great value for money kit, and so much fun. As a secondary kit for lazy rehearsals or that small club gig, its perfect. This is pretty much straight out the box, just changed heads on the toms to Remo coated Emperor. I use Lewitt mics on overheads (LCT640x2), Lewitt 240 x ...

    Nice video! What cymbals do you use in your setup? I'm curious about the types and sizes. So far, I have only played on an electronic drum, but I am planning to buy an acoustic drum set soon.

      Thanks! It's a mix, hybrid of a lot. Zildjian K 13" hh, Sabian Legend Heavy Ride 22", Istanbul Mehmet crashes, Meinl Stacks. During many years of collecting, Ive learned that every brand have some real goodies and also some cymbals not so appealing to my ear. So bring your sticks and go out and try a lot of different cymbals, not depending on brand :)

      Hi, thanks man! Coated Emperor top, way loose without wrinkles. Clear Ambassador bottom, rather tight. Cotton balls inside, like two ping pong size balls. And miked top and bottom. Scoped out bit boxiness around 400, added a little around 80. No compression or gate. But two mikes is great, gives you full body sound :D Kick is Powerstroke 3 coated, finger tight. EV M/D 88 in the port hole, Warm Audio WA47Jr outside. Scoped around 360 and added some 60, no other plugin work. Warm Audio preamps, Apollo X16 interface :) Thanks!!

    Damn, I really wish I had whatever "toy drums" people are talking about that sound like that...!!! Back when I was a kid, all I had was a phone book wrapped in Duck tape... and then a TD-9 electronic kit. None came close. Get back to your DW in your double garage you got with the company's bonus, and let the pros work, with all due respect.

      @Hooverthegroover 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fluffy beater is taking off the attack, of course. But my recording skills is / was not that great either. For a second kit, to grab and go to a small club it works. I just put out a video of my Hayman vintage kit that has a fatter tone and hopefully better recorded :D

      Headphones is preferred to get the tones and small amount of low end that actually is there :) It is small drums, and what comes along with that.
