Rusty Axe restoration vinegar and wire wool
You won't believe how easy it was to restore this rusty axe head with just vinegar and wire wool!
72hr soak in vinegar and the rust wiped off like warm butter!
Work smarter not harder, let the vinegar do the hard work and remove the rust off this potentially old fireman's Hatchet / axe.

This is my first time attempting a restoration of a vintage saw, all positive criticism welcome, bit of work went into it but not as much as editing it, dear god editing is tough! Should I have just blasted the rust off the rusty saw with power tools and be done with it? Or was I right to stay low tech and savour the process? Damn, here's me thinking I was being super dense but no, my buckle doesn't do that - no moving parts so it can't cinch up. Will just have to feed the tape through and then sew it in place I guess..

Does it matter if that extra length of tape falls down ?
No bud doesn't matter might look a bit messy but nothing major. If you have a lot of extra length you might have it tightened too much or the waist coat might be a little too big for your size. Hope that helps.

Ya held up really well! Backsplash would be class! I'd definitely try and cover it with something though if you're not going to use epoxy, the caps do rust.
