Review of the Houston Livestock and Rodeo | As Close to Astroworld as You Can Get?
The carnival at the Houston Rodeo has a large amount of roller coasters, plus a pretty interesting line up of flat rides. Taking place in the beginning of March, and running about 3 weeks, the last week of the rodeo is normally aligned with Spring Break for the Houston area. The rest of the rodeo also has nice things to see, including the concert at the end of the night. But, how expensive can it get? And what are somethings you might want to know before going? Find out in this review!

This spinning coaster seems to be SBF Visa's take on a Wacky Worm. This layout, however, is one of the larger for their spinning coaster, and the big drop offers a particularly wild moment of ejector airtime. However, like Wacky Worms, it is braked afterwards which does dull this some in the back car. 0:00 - 1:11 Pre-Lift View 1:11 - 1:52 Final Turn View 1:52 - 2:40 Walking Past The Station 2:4...

A midsize coaster at the Houston Rodeo, this coaster seems to do a lot of meandering. But, the first drop, especially in the back row, makes for a real wow moment. Given the closeness in my rankings to Raptor Coaster, the largest coaster at the rodeo, I actually give this coaster a slight edge. Found out why in this review. There are doubtlessly better coasters, somewhere, but the airtime over the hills is something really, really special, especially to me. This simple looking kiddie coaster has a decent drop and a nice twist right before a small airtime hill - offering decent thrills for the genre. The train and theming may not be as large as other kiddie coasters in the SeaWorld chain, but this coaster does what it needs to do for San Antonio's Bay of Play.

    0:57 my old nemesis: Galaxy Spin! Fun fact: when I rode Galaxy Spin, the cars were spinning perfectly fine throughout my 15-20 minute wait, and continued to do so after my ride. When I rode it, however, the spinning mechanism did not engage, meaning those forces were not as evenly distributed. The roller coaster did not live up to its namesake. For a spinning coaster with decent airtime, Tsunami at Scene75 in Dayton has some surprising pops of backwards or sideways airtime in the final car, provided you hit that drop just right. Great video!

    • @RollerCoastersOfThailand
      @RollerCoastersOfThailand 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah, Galaxy Spin seems to be hit or miss with the spinning. I got great spin when I leaned into it when I rode with my twin brother. But, other times, it has been rather disappointing -- mainly just spinning along with the turns, which I got in some of my off-ride video of it (though, I don't have a lot of off-ride video of it). Hopefully you'll get back, and it will give you a good ride. Though, even at its peak, still not great - but interesting. I'm going to Austin's Park which has a clone of Tsunami on Wednesday -- so I'll have to be sure to ride in the final car. Most SBF Visa spinners that I've been on have been rather disappointing as they don't do much for me: as a spinning or a coaster. But, pops of backwards/sideways are time would be great plus!

    Great White is the first coaster that actually make me feel dizzy but I love it (not the dizzy feeling after I leave the train 😅) when I try on first row I didn’t feel any airtime but the G force got me in love with this ride.

      @RollerCoastersOfThailand 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good to know you love this one! The G forces on the vertical loops are really fun, but the final two inversions make me a bit too dizzy for my tastes. My love is reserved for the front on the Steel Eel - that’s my favorite. Though, the line for this one should normally be really short which is a huge plus for these type of rides!

      I need to get to more Six Flag Parks for sure -- haven't been on any of the Medusa's yet. But, Mine Blower (despite its roughness when I rode it) ranked just below B&M Floorless/Looping coasters for me (Superman Krypton Coaster, Kumba, Kraken). I'd expect Medusa to rank slightly higher, but only by a few places. I'm also excited to get back to ride Mine Blower now that RMC re-tracked it -- could be even better.

    Are the tickets separately bough for each game or ride? Or is it a package

    • @RollerCoastersOfThailand
      @RollerCoastersOfThailand 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The easiest way is to buy a package. 500 baht gives you one ticket for each ride at Dream World (excluding premium rides). 700 baht gives you unlimited rides on most rides (including my all the coasters), but excludes the premium rides. 1000 baht gives you all the rides an unlimited amount of times including premium one (except only one visit to Snow Town). I address this in my review video of Dream World if that’s easier as well.

    • @RollerCoastersOfThailand
      @RollerCoastersOfThailand 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The water park is through the theme park, but the tickets can vary if you get a cheaper one. The main ticket includes everything, but there are cheaper options that include just the water park (think about 500 baht though the price varies a little) or a walk in option (these are on the website, but I think only the Thai version of the website). I also have a review video that discusses this a bit more, if that’s helpful. Yes, you should bring your own swimsuit (you can buy or rent one there if you don’t have one). Just make sure it meets Southeast Asian standards (no metal) - as that’s their rules, though it’s not enforced super strict.

      I have a season pass, so I hope to be out there a few times over the course of the summer. I went for opening day - just for a few hours - I'm guessing the drop tower is what I saw between the Swinging Ship and Pendulum ride? It looked like maybe that was what it was -- and that would certainly be a nice flat ride that would make sense! Do you know if adults are allowed to ride the kiddie drop tower? I didn't try too hard to do so when I was there for opening day. I'm also excited to get back and try all the different ziplines and rope courses, as I feel that might be what could really make this park special as far as a season pass goes. I do miss the Christmas even though -- that was good times for sure!

      @@andrewmueller8542 Thanks for sure! Will certainly look for. Should be able to get over there some during the summer, but I'm not in a huge hurry since I have a season pass. Also, I'm curious about the official name for ya'll's coaster, since it appears to be Rolling Thunder, but the Roller Coaster Database has it listed as "High Voltage" due to their naming convention of preferring the name/words on the actually ride. This seems to be a mix up, in my opinion -- so figured it wouldn't hurt if someone from the park reached out to clarify the actual name. And, is there any way for me to bring my Go Pro on the rides? I brought it for the Christmas event, but they told me opening day that Go Pros aren't allowed in the park -- I just want to make a nice review and such of the park since it is working on being one of the premier parks in the Houston area, and nicer footage would help. Of course, if there is simply other on-ride footage that the park has that I can use, that would be fine as well. Just figured it doesn't hurt to ask someone with a bit more knowledge.

      I really liked the first drop on this in the back. So I actually rank this right above Raptor. But the rest of this coaster does a lot of meandering and is not too exciting. So, if you’re not in that back row - very true. I think you also love Raptor a bit more than me which would make this one not really worth one’s time for sure!

      I haven’t been to Typhoon Texas yet, so I can’t really speak from experience. The trees and shade at Hurricane Harbor are nice as far as a good atmosphere. If you can get a discount on season passes to go to all the Six Flags Parks, likely worth at least trying. Hopefully my reviews help give you a good overview of the slide line ups that they have.

    I’ve ridden two of these Miler kiddie coasters: Tumbleweed at Adventure Park USA in Monrovia, Maryland, and Roller Coaster at Hovatter’s Wildlife Zoo in Kingwood, West Virginia. The one at Hovatter’s is situated around a row of hedges, which makes for a unique ride experience. Technically, if you want to ride this coaster, you don’t even need to pay admission to do so, as both it and the kiddie Ferris Wheel are situated outside of the main gates. It is also only one of five roller coasters operating in the entirety of West Virginia, so there’s that as well lol. Great review!

    • @RollerCoastersOfThailand
      @RollerCoastersOfThailand 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      West Virginia would be a state I'd love to visit for their roller coasters -- especially since it should be easy to ride them all. But, it is rather low on my list as I'll likely prioritize big parks or easier to access places. Though, you're making me want to visit soon rather than later. Roller Coaster does look to have a really nice setting -- and I like the look of the cars as well!

    • @jonathansima7591
      @jonathansima7591 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The West Virginia parks take some planning and patience to visit. For Hovatter’s, at least in 2021, the coaster was only open on weekends. Being an hour-and-forty minutes from Pittsburgh, it would be a perfect park for a side-trip, regarding your visit is more than a day (otherwise, I would prioritize Kennywood and Idlewild beforehand). Given its proximity to Wisp Resort in McHenry, Maryland, there are plenty of options regarding park-hopping (if that is at all feasible). Camden Park is harder to plan around. Being four-and-a-half hours from Pittsburgh and with no other parks near it within a two-hour radius, unless you are staying somewhere locally, expect to plan your entire day around it. I would furthermore make sure both 1) the Big Dipper is open and 2) the weather conditions are ideal beforehand, as both could make-or-break your day.

    • @RollerCoastersOfThailand
      @RollerCoastersOfThailand 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good to know -- If I make it up to Pittsburgh, I'd originally wanted to prioritize a trip over to Altoona for Leap the Dips (and may be catch a baseball game) -- but looks like I didn't get up there fast enough for that. :( Great to know I can add the zoo onto a Pittsburgh Trip, if I end up planning a long one -- though adding Waldemeer and Cedar Point could likely be the more logical options. I didn't realize Camden Park is far -- that one likely will be out of the way unless I'm driving from Houston to Pittsburgh for some reason (and even then, it probably is a bit out of the way). Thanks for sharing the tips and advice!

    • @RollerCoastersOfThailand
      @RollerCoastersOfThailand 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Since there aren't many in the US, that would be a unique coaster draw while also offering something family oriented to fit in with their overall appeal. Wonder if they could fit it somewhere around the hill that have -- that would look really nice. Though, after riding Spartan Race, I'm not a huge fan of the Vekoma family boomerangs since the backward section really messed with my head. Though, I see their appeal -- and am honestly surprised that a lot more don't exist.

    The only thing that will make this model better is a loop. This ride had good airtimes, good speed, long enough track,…. This thing is amazing. But If just 1 loop more it will be perfect model for this kind of event.

      Wasn't intentionally trying to keep my restraint loose... I don't think -- normally, I'm not too worried about getting airtime on Poltergeist as traditionally it hasn't had much for me -- though it's running a lot faster since the refresh, so it is giving some decent pops on its various little kinks, which is a welcome surprise.
