Hi there! This is my intro video as I am just jumpstarting my account to start up conversations about the expansive identities that exist in queer spaces. I love to educate and guide those to better understanding of complex thoughts that need to be spoken upon. Welcome! Amazing video! You basically took a topic and spread it farther than I could’ve imagined! And I learned many things.
Almost no subscribers, almost no views, yet TH-cam actually decided to just randomly suggest this video to me despite it not being in line with any of the other stuff it's been suggesting lately. I'm glad it did. I look forward to seeing more of your content
This is really cool. Boundaries, until what point people accept queerness and where their acceptance stops, are arbitrary and have always fluctuated throughout the course of history. It‘s awesome to see you knowing yourself!
Great video, thank you!!
Whatbout bois i feel i fall in somewhere in between. As a sapphic. WLW, leeesbian. ♡
Thank you! I am also a masc transbian. I feel that I maybe would like cease to be masc (I am amab). I also had an enby phase. I chose Nova as a trans chosen name pretty recently. I thought about it little for close to year, I think (my name Nova). I wish transfems were taken seriously even if we don't pass. I hated my parents even before. I don't consider my childhood family to be my family anymore. I have no family.
I don't like the assertion of all trans women as Butch. It's an extension of the idea of all trans women as masculine. I think it should be apparent that lesbian trans women can exist in any preestablished lesbian identity, not just butch.
I think you misunderstood me, that wasn’t me saying all trans women are butch, I know they all aren’t. This is me saying they CAN be butch. People have a hard time with the idea of a butch trans woman but they very much exist and are included. It may have been worded wrong but I want to clear that up
This is really cool and informing video. Thank you!
Trans man here who is gay, nice to know how things are on the “other side” of things. Very informative.
thoroughly enjoyed this video, thank you for making such an informational video on the butch identity!! this is much needed right now and you did a great job!!! love to see more people talking about the butch identity and lesbian history <3
can butch be a gender identity too? sorry if i seem stupid jsjs my tv is glowing
That’s essentially how I view my gender and lots of other lesbians say that too!
@@nertalert okay okay that's cool! thanks for the video by the way....... big fan of butches
people cant handle real butch lesbians, so lets make them
Thanks for this video. I'm a Brazilian enby lesbian butch who wants to take testosterone (unfortunately I can't afford it right now) and I've struggled a lot with accepting my identity and sexuality because of it. I know I'm going to suffer a lot of discrimination from cishet and queer people too, but I'm finally happy with myself. I know who I am and what I want. This video makes my day, it's so good to see people like me and hear about their journeys. Thanks Joey ❤
its so exciting seeing more transmasc lesbians starting channels!!!! its nice to meet you joey i hope more transmasc lesbians, male lesbians, he/him lesbians and other "controversial" queer identity havers start to speak out more about their experiences...they are HERE and REAL!!!!
so genuinely thrilled to see other lesbians that care so much abt being lesbians <3 would love to see more of us discussing femme identity centering nonconformity as well as vital convos about butch/stud identity !! great video, learned so much !!
Great video! Learned a lot of new stuff, especially history.
It’s so funny to me how you were a kind of inspiration to me when I thought I was a trans man (yeaaars ago) and now an inspiration to me still now as I’ve started considering myself a masc/genderqueer lesbian. On your last point about queer discourse/transmedicalism (to some degree), it’s so frustrating when people in this community, the *queer* community, which has always been about not fitting in the binary gender/orientational roles in society, try and fit all of us into neat boxes. I hope that our community grows to realise that nothing is binary, we are all unique, and this is what we should be celebrating, not attacking. Awesome video
I love learning about Queer history. I struggled to identify as a lesbian for so long because it was thrust upon me in a derogatory way before I was ready to accept it. I face similar struggles with Butch. It is probably the label that best describes me, but there is such a stigma that comes with these words sometimes. It’s hard to choose to align yourself with them (in my experience). Great video, i look forward to your next ones!
amazing video! my only addition is femme isnt just a feminine lesbian, a femme is a lesbian who reclaims their femininity in a way that not heteronormative. i know that wasnt the point of your video but since you did briefly describe it i wanted to add that slight correction. i love your video 🩷
@@otome.heroine I wish I was able to delve into that side more, there’s so much to say about a such a broad topic with lots of rich history. But for now this is what I got but this could be inspo for a whole video about femmes!
@obviouslyqueer did a super interesting video on femme identity, history, etc., published 4 weeks ago I believe. Would definitely recommend!
nice video-Thank you joey!
Can I ask you a question? I'm a 30/Cis Male. I usually identify as gay but I think I'm just attracted to masculine presenting people, despite their genitals. Is there a term for that?
honestly whatever resonates most with you! gay is a flexible term! i also believe androsexual exists which means attraction to masculinity.
@@humbuggd Thanks! I know some people can find labels limiting, and I respect that, but personally I find them helpful to understanding myself more.
@@summerskull9379I’m of the opinion that labels are tools to be used, and not exactly guidelines to adhere to. I wish you luck on understanding yourself better with every coming day :]
i’m a transmasc lesbian as well! thank you for this video :)
So happy you found a label that feels comfy!! Welcome home 😊
I gotcha ya, Jo.
"You're gay? It's fine if you're gay, butters, we don't care." Nah but seriously just fully opening up like this is brave as hell, especially when people always talk sbout how nonvalid some identities are. As long as it isnt morally incorrect, let people love who they love
heyyyy another transmasc lesbian !!! Transmasc lesbians RISE UP 💪🔥🔥
Really enjoyed this video and I’m happy to have someone speak on it so kindly :) take care Joey
I know you from tiktok and am very excited to now see you on TH-cam too!
Hey, I haven't been able to watch this all yet, but just wanted to say hi as the great migration from tiktok begins!
thank you for sharing your experience! learning about non-conformity and lesbian history has been so fascinating and definitely worth acknowledging. i love this!
this makes me feel so seen, thank u. been following u since ur that 70s show cosplays (hopefully im not confusing u with someone else because that is a crazy thing to say out of context)
I really love that you broke down how your expression works for you.
you are so cool 😎
Hiii Joey, I am a lesbian too! Sometimes I question my identity and attraction because of society. It's so tiring and confusing. I do not like to explain my inner world and feel invalidated by people around me. :( I am fascinated by the fact that you openly talk about your life despite the backlash. That's so COOL!!! (also, love the cosplays) Wish you the best, beautiful human being :)
Could i ask why you switched
@neymaristhegoat8616 I’m open to questions, but I need a bit more clarity on what you mean.
love u! Cant wait to see more videos on your channel :)) 💚
Thank you for sharing your story ❤I can definitely relate to this.
Even though people aren't owed an explanation of gender non-conformity or your story, this was a great video. Thank you for being brazen; all queer people need to remember to actually respect and love one another.
Hi Joey! I follow you tiktok, so excited to see what you do on youtube!
ive followed you on tiktok for years and im so proud of your journey!
Thanks Joey! It’s amazing to hear your story. I’m also the same way. Trans masc, GNC, lesbian, whatever! what matters is we are being ourselves!! I truly feel less alone❤️ thanks for sharing
Honestly well said I couldn't have said it better myself. I wish you well and you deserve to be happy and comfortable in your body, no one should ever take that away from you.
This is a really good video and im very proud of you for having the courage to post it and express your feelings because as a fellow trans masculine lesbian i do not. It makes me happy to see variation and understanding in the lesbian community because i think for a while now it has been missing and what people would accept as a lesbian is just something that fits their standards and really just being awfully transphobic to non binary lesbians, especially if they aren't AFAB or look feminine and it's extremely disturbing and creating a barrier between your own community. You said it completely correct, we need to stop sucking up to homophobes and transphobes when in the end they want all of us gone. They hate us as much as they hate you because at the end of the day we are all queer. If they didn't have a problem with us they wouldn't be subjective like our own community is to itself now. We have to stick together no matter how "weird" some of us are because being weird is what united us in the first place
Queerness being viewed as something that needs to be valid in order to be valued has poisoned our community. I love being queer so much. I love being weird about my identity so much.
JOEY!!! I'm also 23 & identify similarly to you, as a transmasc stone butch I've recieved a ton of backlash for my identity. Thank you for being you. I've been rooting for you silently on TikTok but on TH-cam it's way less anxiety inducing for me to comment. I am so excited for the future of your existence on the internet, bigots are bigots even if they're gay. Be authentically you. I will never support or understand queer identity or label discourse, to me it's so online and ridiculous.
I've adored your content for years and you've got me a bit choked up as I listen to your video. We had similar cuts at fourteen, and I dived into so many different queer identities. My issue was that I mirrored what other people would see as the most valid in my teenage years. That's why I went from transmasc to a trans MAN and then back to a transmasc and a butch.
