I've been watching a series of videos about cat genetics recently. Considering how much creationists go on about how domestic animals "prove" their nonsensical ideas about genetics, I'd love to see them try professional breeding to test their ideas. I think the "mutations can only lose information" claim comes from creationists thinking genetic mutations, cancer, and radiation poisoning are the same thing. Evolution's definition doesn't say anything about "gains", only changes.

I know I'm 7 months late but I have a question that I'd like to ask: Are you planning on making any more videos concerning the Precambrian? It's an area that isn't covered nearly as much as it should, and as a micropaleontologist there are quite a few areas that would intersect with your expertise (vase shaped microfossils, actritarchs, etc).

That's so interesting that the label said "Yankton, Neb", but they went to the South Dakota Yankton, as there's actually a Yankton directly across from each other on either side of the Missouri River, and (these days at least) the one in Nebraska is called South Yankton. I'm sure there's context I'm missing that explains, but, just an interesting thing to me!

It's 1878 so around that period in the early part of the Bone Wars where Marsh was trying to keep Cope busy with as many fish as possible so Marsh could find and name all the Cretaceous birds and pterosaurs, so the idea that someone sent these to Cope to keep him busy isn't that crazy. Cope also did publish on material that was sent to him from all over the world, so it's entirely possible that some stuff from South Dakota or Nebraska got mixed up with stuff from Lebanon and mislabeled.

While the idea of sabertooth cats roaming the Earth again is captivating, it's highly unlikely they'll be back in 2030. The extinction of these magnificent creatures occurred around 10,000 years ago, leaving behind only fossilized remains. While advancements in genetic engineering and cloning have sparked discussions about "de-extinction," bringing back sabertooth cats presents significant challenges. The Challenges of De-Extinction - DNA Degradation: DNA degrades over time, and after thousands of years, the genetic material from sabertooth cats is likely too fragmented and damaged to be used for cloning - Surrogate Mother: Even if scientists could obtain viable DNA, they would need a suitable surrogate mother from a closely related species, like a lion or tiger, to carry the sabertooth fetus to term. This raises ethical concerns about the welfare of the surrogate animal - Ecological Impact: Reintroducing a de-extinct species into a modern ecosystem could have unpredictable consequences, potentially disrupting food webs and impacting other species The Potential of Artificial Selection While cloning is unlikely to be successful in the near future, some scientists suggest that artificial selection could, over many generations, lead to the development of big cats with sabertooth-like characteristics. This would involve selectively breeding lions or tigers with traits similar to sabertooths, but it's a slow and unpredictable process that could take centuries The Fascination with Sabertooths The enduring fascination with sabertooth cats stems from their impressive size, powerful build, and iconic long fangs. These creatures were apex predators during the Pleistocene epoch, and their extinction has left a void in our understanding of ancient ecosystems Conclusion While the idea of seeing a sabertooth cat in 2030 is exciting, the scientific and ethical hurdles are substantial. Current technology is not advanced enough to bring back these extinct creatures, and the potential risks associated with de-extinction are significant. However, ongoing research into genetic engineering and artificial selection may one day lead to a greater understanding of these magnificent animals and perhaps even the possibility of recreating their unique features. For now, we can continue to learn about sabertooth cats through fossil evidence and scientific research, appreciating their role in Earth's history. I hope this help

Also, the "fasolasuchus" has the exact same head as the T.Rex. They literally recycled the model, switched the colours around, changed the lighting and touched it up. That quadroped is literally just a Frankensteinian abomination and possibly the producers used it to replace the "vengeful" triceratops seen in the original storyboard.
