    I had a similar issue with my magnetic hoop, and then I put flocked tape all the way around the bottom hoop, top side, to keep the fabric from slipping between the two pieces of the hoop. This helped immensely it kept the fabric from sliding through. Now my Fabric stays in place on the backside. I have also read the two sided tape works as well.

    I had heard you have to change the tension for quilting with these on an American PBS quilting show. They were talking about the issue/nightmare that you were sharing about bottom thread. I, like others, having been thinking about the magnetic hoop and this was so helpful to hear honest feedback.

    • @lifestylesew
      @lifestylesew หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Thanks for watching, yes you can change the tension and spend a long time getting it right. Always write down all tensions that you use for each project, I have a book for my sewing machine and overlocker, just to write down all sorts of little bits of info that I know I will forget, like tensions for different fabric or projects, and setting. I like to give a honest opinion on things so we can then make a decision for ourself without the hype that companies marketing gets everyone whipped up about, after all that how I bought mine in the first place. Its not to dish the company. Thanks again for watching, it really helps me grow the channel. Gwendoline

    Thank you for trying and showing the process of making this dress. I sort of remember that many years ago some dresses had a panel that was sewed into a seam and changed how the dress looked. So I thought that this pattern could work. However as you were making it, I quickly realized that it is a disaster and very disappointing one. Is it possible that patterns are: 1, not tested or 2, that the designs are over simplified and should never have reached the supplement? On Pinterest, I accidently came across the concept of this very popular dress and how it is drafted. Cut a long story short, the sheath pattern needs to be slashed from the right to the left side of the boddice front waist line. The darts slashed, spread and manipulated and a tie is incorporated into the design of the bodice. The dress when sewn together, has these neat ties flowing out the bodice. It is a very flattering design that looks as great as that picture.

    • @lifestylesew
      @lifestylesew 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, I did have to think for a bit about this dress, as its been sometime since I made it. The main dress without the ties was a good fit, although if I made it again, I would do it in stretch material, without ties. The problem with this dress is the ties. They had both ties stitched on one side, the tie running along the back was never going to keep in place with a woven fabric, far too long piece of material, just kept getting very loos, as did the front, it was just a bad design. One of Lutterloh staff, that keeps an eye on what people do on TH-cam watched what I said. She then made the dress up again, and showed just the front on the dress on Lutterloh site, people thought what she did was amazing, she completely undermined what I did, but she did not however showed the back. Lutterloh have different designers, as all companies do, some patterns fit you better than others. So you do always have to test what you make before you cut out,. I made a dress that was fitted in stretch fabric, put ties on each side of the front so it ties in the middle, people think its a designer dress out of the shop. It is from a patter from another company, but its the same dress really, just ties at each side tying in the middle. Thanks for your feedback it is most appreciated, I think you quickly got what I was doing. Thanks again. G

      @@lifestylesew thank you for responding. Without adjustments this pattern will be a nightmare. The designer came up in Pinterest, made the dress from a very soft material, maybe it was a knit or it could have been rayon. It draped very well. Thanks again for trying and a honest review of the patterns. I enjoy and learn from your hard work. I bought the system in 1995 and used it then. Years later, I now need to do so many adjustments. does it fade after several washings?

    • @lifestylesew
      @lifestylesew 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I dont know after several washers. I tested a sample, and it didn't fad at all, the fabric did.. Most people don't wash their quilts on a regular basis, as they are just sitting on top of the bed. If you are making wall quilts, then you properly won't wash it anyway. If you are thinking of washing quilts, then you must wash the fabric before you cut it out and buy washed wool if you use that so nothing shrinks. People do a lot of working making quilts but don't give attention to shrinkage.

      The upper body. Sorry it was a quick reply, I answered on my phone. The sleeve can sometime be tricky, they fit the armhole, but you may have to take it in. Lutterloh has lots of designers, so one thing my fit better than the other. Once you get a good fit , keep that for your master pattern ok.

    • @lifestylesew
      @lifestylesew ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Zelda, Lots of people find it hard. Its simple really, you just have to do your own adjustments on the pattern, like you would if you bought a sewing pattern. Most people think because you are taking your own measurements, it will fit, problem with that is, the pattern will not know it you need a bust adjustment or a round back adjustment. You need to make some sort of mock up first, when you are happy then with the fit, cut it out again on your main material. I was really trying to say to people, I also sometimes miss adjustments out, if I do, this is what happens. I do all sorts of other sewing, not just Lutterloh. Thanks Gwendoline

It's the round back that's the real problem, as that cant be fixed once the fabric is cut. I showed everyone so they could see anyone can have problems. Good morning. Was looking at your tutorial on how to print quilting labels. Awesome! Question: how well does the ink hold after several washings?

    • @lifestylesew
      @lifestylesew ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thanks for watching. Make sure you iron your label to set the ink. I washed one sample and then checked it with another sample, the washed sample ,the fabric faded not the ink. I have not tested on several washers, as most people don't do a lot of washing of quilted things. Wall hanging don't need washing. Lots of quilts are just for show, or just to dress the bed. I have been doing this for years now, and all labels are all good.

      I’d like to know too. Also, what program on the computer did you use to type your label letters?

    • @lifestylesew
      @lifestylesew ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stormyg1945 Hi it’s just word, you can also make it coloured, or put in art , just put in what you want, then save it and print it just like paper. I washed the sample to test it. The fabric faded, the ink was fine. Over time it may fade. Most people don’t wash quilts that much. Labels can be replaced very easy. G

    I love your comment about your hair. I was kind of wondering that as soon as I started watching the video. People on social media, I don’t miss much these days In all seriousness, have you considered getting a flat iron? They are wonderful they make your hair, super soft and shiny and super straight. You can turn the flat iron vertically and get some waves if you want but you have to be careful. As far as the ink from the printer, I am not confident that it will hold up wash after wash. I’m just wondering if there’s some kind of protection maybe sewing some clear vinyl on top

      Hi Thanks for the comments, I have a flat iron, Just did not have the time to do my hair, crazy week. Im not your traditional TH-camr I guess. I printed out two labels once, put one in the washer. Ironed it and the ink was ok, but the fabric faded a little when I put it next to the original one. Have been doing this way of labelling for years now. I think what you have to consider, are just going to have it on the wall or use your quilts for decoration compared to having it in the washer every week. I have an embroidery machine now, so may also give that ago, but the stitchers can also come out over time, and break. So many choices.

      @@lifestylesew I am making some quilts for people in my mothers Care Home for when they are sitting in their wheelchairs, watching a movie or some thing So I really want to make sure they will hold up for as long as possible because they may be washed on a weekly basis I just finished making my own label with Washing instructions that were translated into Ukrainian and I used the fabric markers. I did the heat set with the iron then I washed them in really hot water then I re-inked them use the iron again so at least they will last a little longer

      @@lifestylesew I belong to an online community of people who buy quilting cotton, and one lady offered to make two wheelchair lap quilts for me, and another gal is making one. I’ve met so many great people through this fabric sale. Another lady has an embroidery side business, and she embroidered the Ukrainian coat of arms so that I can incorporate that into my quilt

    I just bought the basic system and my introductory book has the same patterns you are showing from your supplement 325. Then a week ago I got the 2023 summer supplement #329. I’m guessing that in the basic kit they send out a different group of patterns, depending on when you order.

    • @lifestylesew
      @lifestylesew ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure how they do it, when you get your kit, you get some patterns, this may be a collection from different books to get you started or it could be just one of the books. Have no idea what book it is from, as once I got the kit I start to order different books anyway. Most books have some T-shirts of some kind in that people love to start with. G

    Hi Gwendoline can you tell me how you printed your lutterloh pattern side by side, it’s driving me mad x

    • @lifestylesew
      @lifestylesew ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, First print out the first side of the pattern. You now have a A4 sheet with a pattern on it, now take the pattern you have on the printer, off the printer, put that pattern side by side with the pattern you have just taken off the printer, and put both of them on the printer together, can be a bit tricky lining them up. Print, you now have them side by side. If you want to laminate, get your patterns and put the picture and pattern back to back on the laminate sheet , add another pattern so you fill up the sheet. You will now have a laminated pattern with front and back, just cut up the middle so you have a A5 pattern.
