I have a friend that’s looking to get one and she just got a 20 gallon. Would that be okay for an adult female? She wants to live plant the tank. Dimensions are 30” by 12” by 13”. Would love your opinion. It’s top opening and full mess on top :) Edit: it doesn’t have cross ventilation though so I guess not. Do you have any suggestions of products in the US?

Well I think I no the best recipe baby food fruit apple and pear and porridge oats in a blender with hot water cool that’s it. You’ll have way too many fruit flies.

As a person that owns about 6 different mantid species yea your video is very informative but I disagree with the whole first 1-7 minutes of impulse buying, let people explore and find out yk, ofc research is needed but they way your making it seemed flawed

What can you tell us about breeding wild isopods and introducing to a bioactive reptile enclosure? What generation is safe to introduce to your reptile enclosure? When do you remove adults (separate generations) in your isopod enclosure?

Thankyou so much for this video - after keeping jumping spiders for ages I thought I'd go for a mantis. I got my first juvenile giant asian mantis this week along with a leaf decoration from the same place which was so much bigger than I expected. I put it in thinking it would provide alot to climb on but I'm so pleased I watched this I'm taking it out to give it more space to molt.

If it helps also when you want to seal the air gaps on lids of tubs use some foam tape on rim of the tub to.makes putting lids on abit stiff for a while but definitely helps keep escapees in abit better especially merulanella's 😃

My maggots come from the tackle shop, by far the cheapest way per maggot/or caster, but I do end up with way too many! I swing by pets at home for wax worms because they don't change them out as often as the good shops, so quite often you can end up with moths in the tub, and plenty waiting to hatch out, and a discount... which the mantids love! (not the discount, I don't think they care about that) the other thing I feed a lot is locust, they absolutely love them, and if you give them a bigger tub, and as long as you feed them fresh veggies and give them a drink they last a really long time, and can even start breeding.

Just started keeping these this year. I found them at my local pet shop and got them as feeders for my tarantulas until I realised they become beautiful beetles. I get 10 large grubs for £6 which is a bargain. I have 40 plus beetles now and love em. Hopefully they’ve mated and will continue the cycle x

I use coffee grounds and tea from my reusable "teabag" for substrate, as well as unbleached cardboard from my egg cartons. My isopods are exploding with babies! They love to eat my veggie trimmings from my kitchen as well as some cat crunchies when I notice a baby boom.

Hmmm, so my spare 10gal tank probably wouldnt be a good option. I can always put a screen in to split it in half but it wont hage any cross ventilation. And as far as the planted tank idea sounds like some rocks with mosses and stuff like that would be good as it wouldnt create issues with molting and do well beings misted all the time maybe even get away with a small fern type of plant 🤔🤔. Very informative thank you

I used to get met with “do your own research” or “why would you ask facebook, Google it” every time I asked a question in an aquarium group on Facebook. I was in the middle of research on Pea Puffers but was met with a ton of conflicting information and wanted some information from first hand experience. I ended up successfully keeping them but I never asked another question in an aquarium group. A few years later, I saw post in the same group saying the hobby is dying. I’m a firm believer that talking with people that have experience with the animal/hobby is a vital part of any research. Now, with more information than ever on the internet, I believe it’s even more necessary!! Thank you for this video. I hope to expand into the Mantis keeping hobby soon. I just have a lot more questions to answer 😅
