Hey Bryan over here in uk i generally get up 330 leave home between 5-630 depending on which job im on travelling over here in uk is terrible, generally finish approx 5pm get in house 6-7 our average hourly rate 15-20 pound an hour for an operator

I recently was asked to bid a small project installing 12" RCP. I've been doing residential for a few years and am lost when it comes to most commercial jobs. This video is a great example for me. Did you learn from working in a larger company or is it something you picked up over time?

And thirdly, all you need to do is measure the length of your run, account for spigot and socket butts, and length of pipe, then simply cut pipe so you aren’t left with a tiny piece at the end. Focus on getting your grade and bedding right first though. Your pipe bedding makes the job ten times harder. Just get sand and a screed and concrete rake and get the bed nicely finished, then dig out for the bell ends

Should use a bedding material, about 100mm thick. Also, if you started with full length pipe and then dumped a bucket of sand over it (but in your case you’d probably be using dirt since you’re half arsing it), then pipe would be weighed down, and then use a shorter pipe as the second pipe in the run, you can easily send it home since you are pushing into a full length pipe weighed down. Use your brains…

When starting with a short cut piece we'll have a guy hold a cut piece of 4x4 between the pipe and the back structure wall if possible. Just so you can use a little more force to get the second joint home

In this video you have three sections of pipe that are bare. When digging for the next pipe reach our and cast some dirt over those pipes too hold them in place.

Civil Design engineer here. Curious, at around 4:45, you had mentioned that the pipe length was short enough that you don't use the pipe laser. At what length do you decide to use a pipe laser? And is that standard practice?

How does the stake out go? I see you guys were using the gps. I’m going to be laying some pipe and I’m trying to figure out how to get the direction set on the first 2 pipes location of catch’s are there with a stake from a surveyor but once you get below grade it’s impossible to point a laser at it. How did you guys do it?

When figuring up a quote on things like gutter drains and things such as water lines and things how do you figure up a price? Do you do it by foot or a different way?
