What are you using in the screwdriver to collect the little bits of metal shavings?
Maybe relay sensor.
Has the ecu been tuned and tuned locked the ECU?
We used to always swap over fuses when a more important one failed, horn for indicator for example. -But not with the VW Golf, thanks for this. I do miss doing little things on the car, and getting dirty, but the price for this great technology.
I remember when we used to do that on simpler car back int the day.
Do you guys have any shops in northern suburbs closer to campbelfield or thomastown? Thanks
I think i have that problem
I asked a diesel mechanic whats involved in replacing a slave cilinder? He told me the gearbox has to come out
Isn’t it torque 60nm + 90 degrees?
On the running backwards (already somewhat addressed here), breaking the chips is pretty important with steel and metals that make a nice long swarf-like chip. Neglect to do it and your chances of a broken tap increase, which is a really bad Friday arvo. Less of an issue with brittle metals like Al and Magnesium, but still a good habit. Once you've run a few taps you get a pretty good feel for if you should back off as well 😉
I think you've nailed it, bit terrifying seeing that pool of fuel. One cigarette ... I hope she recommends your business to her friends and family, what every customer should do when they'e gotten good skilled service.
Hi...what did you use to lock the crank in position?. Did you replace all the bolts on the cam and diesel pump?...Awesome video, thanks.
There is a locking tool to hold the crankshaft in place, the VW tool number is t10050 on this model but it can also be T10490 or other engine codes.
thanks. Did you use a Factory belt, tensioner and idlers?@@aussietunedandenong5736
(Beginning of the video - about the spark plug) OMG.... they should have done it with a wine cork instead 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mines going back to the garage that changed it 5 months ago, what would make it rattle again so soon? had duel mass fly wheel and clutch changed. Their words were not seen one go so soon, mentioned baring so maybe they didn’t change that. If they’re changing the baring would you change the clutch again?
It is very unusual that it would rattle in such a short amount of time, I'm assuming that your engine runs well as extended periods of miss fire could cause damage to the flywheel. If we were doing the job again I would want to know why it failed so soon before fitting another one. Our procedure would be to replace the clutch again.
The cylinder at the pedal is the master cylinder not the slave
Yes, you are correct.
Excellent video mate 👍
Great presentation..glad the garage are doing mine! Thanks
Its been 07 months almost the Engine Light on with my Q7 also understood that we had Engine Oil mixing with Petrol.. Car goes off all of a sudden when in Slow Traffic but doesn't have issues while Driving High speeds .. While starting early morning High RPM shooting then slowing down.. Fuel pump Changed.. Injectors cleaned bought new Spark plugs Engine light still On ... Any clue points please??
Have you looked at the pcv valve? This could give issues with the high rpm when starting and at idle speeds. What are the fault codes stored, this will give more direction in locating the issue/s.
@@aussietunedandenong5736 Appreciate your support in this the only fault indicates Engine light on we've Also noticed Oil and Petrol mixture When smelling the Oil stick 🍡 at the moment car is with the Dealer awaiting diagnostics..
Thanks man my pedal feels like this and I’ve always wondered why.
Tbf wouldn't have been the end of the world if you couldn't pick up the piece of metal with the magnet as it would go as far as the strainer anyway
Yeah I agree.
I had coolant leak found cream in oil cap had water pump cam belt head gasket and head skimmed now 280 miles later im filling up the water bottle again my van has done 180 k no cream in the oil cap now. Would engine oil cooler leak oil into the block ?
It's possible.
So my car has a problem where the clutch pedal sticks half way down and I’m unable to change gear till I use my foot to pull the pedal back up to them push back down to change gear is this the cylinder that’s causing the problem
Hi there, that sounds annoying. Could be a few different issues. If your car runs a hydraulic system, I would suggest starting with a bleed of the system.
@aussietunedandenong5736 hi thank you for answering ...when you say bleed of the sistem? Do you mean brake fluid reservoir? Or is there another sistem that needs bleeding?
Seat Leon's and Audi A3's have the same rubbish plastic part too!
? ?
When you go backwards you snap the swarf spirals that form in the tap flutes. This can make it easier to continue the tap in hard materials but probably is exactly what you don't want to do tapping a sump hole as better to keep the swarf in big pieces within the tap flutes if possible. Good video, thanks.
Great video Exactly what I needed to know. Doesn’t seem any special tools required. Do you need to add any gasket glue or is the replacement just a straight fit? Also what’s the part number as I’ve got 2017 Audi a3 1.4. Steve
Promo>SM 😀
Its a Master cylinder not a slave cylinder, maybe you are better at videos than fixing cars?
Nice to see a WELL MAINTAINED Mercedes for a change!
Hi guys, we’re are you based and what does something like this cost? I have a Q7 Audi 4.2ltr
Hi Dan, thanks for the comment. We are located in Keysborough, Vic. If you could email the vin or Rego number through to workshop@aussietune.com.au I can make up an estimate. Cheers, Nigel.
I had to weld/extended some fuel line pliers so that i could squeeze the clip on vw slave cylinders in situ.
👏👏👏
I think you Can use glue inside whole and outside new thread
Bloody Fridee
Hi.when you replace the clutch master do you need to remove the spring from the clutch pedal or can you leave the spring in place and install the master cylinder?
Hi there, we leave the spring in place.
thx for the vid, would you recommend always replacing the spigot bearing when doing the flywheel or did you have an issue with it? thx
Flywheel was being replaced due to being worn out and noisey. We do recommend also replacing the spigot bearing at the same time to avoid any problems.
woow first time i've seen this sump bolt using spark plug lol
was the first time for us as well, creative for sure.
Fantastic!!!
We tested it in the vehicle first and bench tested for fun and so we could show you part of the testing process.
Very nice
Thank you
Such a great channel, thanks.
Thanks you for the feedback. What would you like to see?

i once saw picture of a custom CnCed seal for one of these. i guess the guy didn't like the design and quality of the seal so made a plate that screws in a better a seal with allen screws.
Gotta be a better design than the orignal.
Owner might need to change who does their servicing. Great workmanship on a frustrating job where everything that could go wrong almost did.
As an expert mechanic, are you concerned about so many parts made of plastic, and then cracking through heat stress (in a hot operating environment)? Great vids.
It's very common to replace deteriorated plastic components, particularly plastic associated with cooling systems.
Thank you, seeing the smoke detector in action was really interesting, and a reminder to take warning lights seriously, and early.
Glad you like it, thank you
how did you diagnose that
Pressure tested cooling system and was unable to find any external leaks. The engine oil was also a chocolate milk color which indicated water present. Water pump i s a common issue on this engine, so we removed inspection cover for water pump and could see coolant leaking through the shaft on this one. The bearing had collapsed on this one so was easy to diagnose.
Thank you for explaining this, snd the right terms to use, as it sounds very similar to what is happening (intermittently) with my 2016 Golf. The problem is, when it happens, there is a loss of power (engine still runs) and loss of steering as the Golf 'thinks' the engine is off. You make great videos, good plain speaking which is helpful for those of us who only know how to top up the water, and check the oil.
Fantastic video, gives me the confidence to tackle the job myself. One question though, what are the torque settings for the 5 bolts that hold the water pump on?
Thank you for the kind words. Torque for the mounting bolts is 12nm.
