A friend of mine imported her father's special order Toyota Corolla G. Touring all-wheel drive wagon. I decided to do a quick video because I think it's such a cool car. These were never sold in the USA and were sold only in Japan. . You had to special order them from Toyota and it took 3 or 4 months to get the car. This is a 1998 and only has 100,000 km. It's a perfect car for Colorado. They c...
review tofu chocolate bar sold in Japan 7-11 as healthy high protein keto vegan friendly alternative

I had a chance to try a tofu sweet bar sold at 7-Eleven in Japan for about a dollar. it's advertised as being a healthy high protein vegetarian alternative to chocolate bars and being Keto / low sugar friendly. I actually ended up really liking it even though I had my reservations at first. The flavor was quite rich and chocolatey and reminded me more of a soft fudge brownie. for the low calori...

Nice. My Copen is getting new seats, because of roof seal, leakers, the seats got smelly. If you know a dealer when I can get roof seals, it would make me very happy.
Hi, I just purchased a 97 Friendee Van. I have the 2.5 liter diesel. I'm having a hell of a time finding a part number for the oil filter. The parts stores are baffled. Do you have a recommendation for a part vendor? I'm in south central CO and I'm at a bit of a loss.

Would you recommend using motorcycle oil? The cST of Castrol power 1 motorcycle oil is 17 @ 212 * F vs the 5w40 of Quaker state of 12.8 @ 212 * F and the pour rate of both is -36. Its basically a motorcycle engine minus the wet clutch and gears
@@MJT-DA no, definitely not, these engines are designed to use automotive oil. 5w 30w full synthetic seems to be the most popular choice for these cars. The best thing you can do is change the oil every 3k-5k mi since they rev higher.
@@LawrenceCamera 5w40 is what ive been using in my genesis coupe since my turbo line gets so hot it causes the turbo viscosity to drop to 10.8 according to Blackstone oil analysis, so Ive been told by enthusiasts to always go 10 up on the oil for any turbo car if it says 5w20 go 5w30 if it says 5w30 go 5w40 since the turbo cooks the oil lowering its viscosity. I will be driving on the highway more often so worried about an oil related failure.
Good job showing the underside for 0.3s and shaky. Some people...🙄
what year is the vehicle in the video ?
That's so beautiful
So I'm bringing in this identical jr, it has the stock stereo, I cannot find any information on the wiring harness, do you know if it's the same harness as any other more common 90s Mitsubishi?
@@coffeepumper sorry, I don't know offhand what stereo harness it uses, but if you check the Facebook Mitsubishi Pajero forum somebody might know. I have a feeling any stereo harness that fits a Mitsubishi from the late '90 should work
@@LawrenceCamera That's kinda my feeling as well, I'm thinking if I grab a Montero harness it should work, thinking about just trying it to see.. also by the way, this whole thing is your fault lol😂. I'll make a video for you once it shows up and I get it on the mountain. Oh but this one is AT, so we'll see.
@@coffeepumper sorry I took you down the Pajero Jr. Rabbit hole. It's still one of the cars I miss the most. But I just can't out myself. I have to keep trying new cars... The automatics are good and the most popular. Please make a video! I'd be very keen to see it.
@@LawrenceCamera ok so in the end I settled for the Pajero io, so the next brother Pajero up in size 😂 and it's officially shipping... I'll make you a video when it shows up.. 😁
Thanks this is cool, I think they made an official accessory like this but it looks like it's not too hard to do it yourself
Great tour, new to the jdm van world but am loving watching these videos and learning more. I have a question about the importing process. Was it hard to get it registered in Colorado? I noticed Washington plates on it. I ask because I'm looking to import a Bongo but live in California and the more I find out, the harder it is to reg here. Colorado may be an option since I have family there. Thank you!
Best review ever! Thanks for sharing.
These trucks are awesome 👌
Man i would love this van
I think the sistem bodum it's better
I agree, the Bodum makes better coffee but it just not robust enough to be portable. You don't have the dual use (Thermal mug & French press), compactness, and durability that the Stanley offers. For home use the Bodum is great but for traveling you cannot beat the Stanley.
Can you do a video on removing and replacing the steering wheel?
@@adrianthomas7233 thanks for the compliment! Sorry but I don't have my Pajero anymore.
Hi. Is there a special obd scan to for the 1996 Mitsubishi Pajero Jr H57A 1.1cc engine? Where can I get one?
Sorry for the late response. These don't have a standard OBD port as those didn't become standard until the 2000s in Japan. However, they do have an OBD 1 code system that can be activated using jumpers on the OBD1 port and lights on the dashboard blink to give you the error code. If you join one of the Facebook Pajero forms you should be able to get the info on how to activate the diagnostic mode and the code list. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
Hi Larry, great video. Any regrets on keeping the Honda over the Mazda? I like the boxier look of the Mazda but the practical side of me says the Honda is the smarter buy.
Sorry for the late reply. I do and I don't. The Honda has been great all around car, especially for daily and light camping. With snow tires it is a champ in the snow! It is easier to get in and out of and the club seating is really popular with the kids... ... .... BUUUUT.... the Mazda was so much more substantial and more off road capable. With the Turbo, it flu up the Colorado mountains. The Honda just looses too much power in the mountains. The Mazda is more masculine looking (especially with big black off road rims and wheels) while the Honda has a more emasculating mini-van look. ... .... BUUUUUUT... with all that being said, I actually think I made the right choice in keeping the Honda as I don't do much heavy off road camping these days and the Stepwagon fits my family's current life style. Hope this helps. BTW, both have been dead reliable with no mechanical issues.
did u ever end up installing 3 points? looking to do this with my sambar ❤thanks for the information!
Thank you for the email. No, never got around to it as I sold the van... but I have another one and hopefully I can find a local welder to install the anchor points required for a 3 point seat belt instillation. When I get to it I will post a video on how I did it. You may want to join the Sambar Squad Facebook group as several members documented how they installed their 3 point seatbelts for the back seats.
@@LawrenceCamera thank you!!!!

What kind of gas mileage are you getting in the Stepwagon?
In the city I'm doing about 18 to 19 and on the highway I'm getting between 23-29mpg. I noticed that the mileage improves substantially at sea level, but in Colorado it's not as good, especially going up and down the mountain to ski. Also the camping version's heavier than the standard stepwagon. I had a few stepwagons in Japan and the mileage was always in the twenties to low 30s.
Did you end up selling it?
Yeah I sold it maybe 2 years ago. The guy who bought It wrapped it and it looks great! The good news is it's staying in Colorado.
👍🏾 curious the price. I have a 96 literally identical, and just today bought some rotating front seats! Rare as hens teeth. The akoubu pistons is super cool!
Can your Kei vans make it up to the mountains? Would a Delica be a better option for a mountain camper for someone based in Denver?
I've driven my Suzuki every turbo van and Subaru Sandbar supercharged van up the icon pass several times without any issues and they go up probably faster than the older delicas do. However, this isn't something I would do everyday as kei vans rev higher than a regular car. I would look at a Mazda bongo diesel turbo as those perform really well in the mountains. Or one of the newer delica space gears. I love the hi ace most of them aren't turbo diesels and so they don't perform that well up the mountains. That being said, the newer Kei vans perform great in the mountains all the time as I use those in Niigata and you can use those everyday. A lot of the newer Kei Vans made after 1999 will perform better as the torque numbers are much higher than the Vans in the from the '90s. They also have better crash protection, airbags, and more seat room
@@LawrenceCamera I'm depending on the 25 year import law, so 1999 is the newest vehicle on my radar. This wouldn't be a daily commute for me, just the occasional weekend trip. Glad to hear it's possible, if maybe a bit taxing on the vehicle. I have not seen many diesel vans (Bongo or otherwise) on the JDM import sites but will keep my eyes open. Other than Sandbar and Suzuki, any other recommendations for a casual camper? Thoughts on the Hijet? I think the Acty would have been perfect if it were a bit bigger, but I am a tall guy and have read that my knees would be squished in the driver seat.
@@gabriellevy1712The Honda Acty is not turbocharged and they're very slow in Colorado. The build quality is great on them and they work great at low altitudes but in Colorado they're just too slow. However, in 1999 a whole bunch of newer Vans were made and you should look at trying to find the Honda vamos turbocharged four-wheel drive van which came out late in 1998. All of the kei vans were updated in 1999 because The laws changed which allowed them to make them a little bigger and safer. Also, they started giving the Vans more torque because they couldn't' raise the horsepower. The Mitsubishi and Daihatsu Vans are good but they tend to rust more and so you don't see them as often.
I have one😊
Is this 4wd? With front and rear diff?

Sorry, trucks are a pain in the butt to legalize in Colorado so I don't have any of those... Yet. The good news is I sold the van.
Did anyone realise japan also have winter? I mean snowy winter?
Great review, i have one with kitchen in , few niggles with it but overall a very versatile vehicle.
I own one of exact same every wagon exact same turbo model with all power doors, step, windows, doors etc. one thing I added was 10 inch Android head unit with Apple car play. Back in Canada I used to drive BMW, Audi, Cadillac and I’d never thought I’d be enjoying one of these Suzuki kai cars today here in south east Asia. To anyone who wants small car That will fit anywhere and still have decent room on inside look into getting one of those. P.S. on thumbnail I’m pretty sure it’s newer model DA17 not DA64W that’s in this video review.
These small engines warm up to optimal temperature faster which makes them viable in cold weather.
Is it hard to find parts for this vehicle in the US? Is it weird to drive on the righthand side?
It depends on the car. For the Suzuki every there's a lot of parts used by other cars. You can find the cross reference to these parts on most forums. Also you can get the parts on megazip or beforward websites. And some cars like my Honda stepwagon share the entire drivetrain with the Honda CRV and Odyssey so I can get 90% of the parts locally. Driving on the right side isn't hard at all. It doesn't take very long to get used to it. Just practice in a parking lot and in 10 minutes you'll have it.
What is the fuel consumption
I got about 30 to 37 miles per gallon. My wife got so much better than me but she drives very slow and shifts at very low rpms.
One thing everybody's gotta remember that those old cars. They don't want to sell you. No parts for them because they want you to buy new cars
One question: Does the car boogie?? Incidentally, the timing belt might need to be changed sooner than you may realise, as it will perish over time, not just physical mileage or engine revolutions.
Turning out to be the best small van Ive owned, love mine
Красота👍
Nice
The supercharged Kei trucks and vans are much harder to find and hold their value well. I'd keep it
