RELAPSE is really good, actually.

Eminem's 2009 album 'Relapse' has always had a mixed perception by fans, but today I'll be trying to convince that not only is the only good, it's great. Kendrick vs Drake: what did we gain from this?
Relapse was DEFINITELY waay better than Encore even with the accents, at least he was trying 😂
I listened to it (relapse: Refill) like 5 minutes into this video, so I could know what you are talking about as I never listened to much of it and enjoyed it
Omg .. this will be difficult for me as a non native English speaker
Relapse, for me, is Em best body of work. The theme and exececution of it with the accents, to all be a metaphor for his struggles and horrors.... it just doesnt get more artistic than that! And to think all that for being the first album back from almost dying, to learn how to actually rap again and to then produce this.... impeccable.
I also think em hates relapse because of all the stuff he was going through at the time especially with that drug addiction and losing Proof and relearning how to fully rap again
"Every CD, critics gave it a three, then three years later they go back and re-rate it"
ok
Wow! Such great description, I'll be adding this to my read list IMMEDIATELLY.
I'm Portuguese and you should also read lusíadas
I am not a hot boxer I am a collection of hot boxers
As much as I like the album, calling any of it “unsettling” is a stretch
Literally his best album if you love gritty Hip Hop
Years later they’ll go back and rerate it…
Few more years that shit’ll be illmatic…
Relapse shows a struggling man, and shows being human. I absolutely love this album and it shows “the extremes of man”. It’s like a therapy session with the raw emotion; and the imagery in this album makes you feel like you can close your eyes and be in the moment.
Relapse is Eminem best album and it’s been downhill since
It's a shame you didn't mention Eminem's technical level on Relapse... His flow patterns, diction, placements, rhymes are just insane! After MMLP, Relpase is the second best rapped album in Eminem's discography. Nobody can rap like Eminem on Relapse, the level is just too high.
it's really disappointing that in most music critical websites Relapse still overall has a low score
Don't even gotta watch. No it's not a masterpiece. It sucks
According to a lot of my friends, I have a really disturbing imagination, so (this is gonna sound so egotistical, but here we go): honestly, I would try to make a film adaptation of this. It wouldn't be a perfect adaptation, but I think I know how to get it close enough
Bro 8:23 part had me dying. I do the same thing a lot 😂
At the time on release for me, I didnt like it because it just didnt feel like Eminem. Now, it's my favorite era of Em along with BME/MMLP2
Narrator sounds like Tom Brady
its a Cult classic if not in a weird way, a classic
Relapse is my favourite Eminem's album, I think it has many bangers, interesting storyline, and lots of real emotions
i listened to an audiobook of blood meridian, and it was so well read. but it was dense as hell! I already knew I'd struggle actually reading it, and now I hear there's no commas or quotation marks? Definitely wouldn't be able to get through that. If you struggled with reading it, I'd recommend the audio book read by Richard Poe. That was movie enough for me, great voice for it.
Relapse is a absolutely 🔥 album
This is my personal favorite album of his. This came out when I was 9 and changed my life entirely. One of the few albums where I don't skip a single song even with the Refill. The songs can be so dark, so catchy, and so good. As a kid, the accents never bothered me, if anything, it allowed him to do cool writing schemes like "So prepare your vernacular for Dracula acupunc-ture" is such a good line in Bagpipes I actually plan on doing a Def Jam Compilation with a majority of the songs on the Relapse Refill album as it fits the game well and publishing it on it's 16th anniversary.
Another person who’s doing Relapse some justice. Relapse is his most underrated album, no question. Dre’s beats were some of his best in years, Eminem’s rhyming, and his wordplay on this album were the best they’d been in YEARS. This album wasn’t initially well received due the ascents, but over the years Relapse has aged like fine wine. This ENTIRE album is filled with hits. (except for “We Made You”)
Wide awake is legendary
1:19 Saying its deep and thematicly rich on a closeup of eminems junk is crazy
I love this guys writing cadence!
If he had dropped the accents and high pitched voice, Relapse album would easily rival his first albums, easily.
the accents are what make the album
Wow
when this was made had the new film been in *pre production* for 10 months or rather was it 10 months of development? 10 months of one sounds insane but of the other is normal
Relapse has always been my top for this reason, it’s always struck me as someone trying to write out their dark thoughts before they are consumed by them. The silliness and accents only add to this especially in insane, many people will make light of or joke about things that torture them inside.
Deja Vu is genuinely one of his best songs in my opinion. Its so strong from just a songwriting perspective and painting the picture
This might be a very unpopular opinion but i would say that right now, Recovery is his most underrated album. I get it, but just because the album has not afraid and love the way you lie, doesnt make the album any bit overrated or bad. There are so many amazing tracks in this album that people just overlook it. It has amazing beats, crazy flows and rhyme schemes and amazing wordplay in each track. Its not his best album but I think the hate must stop. Pls make a video on recovery.
Tbh, most of my favourite songs from eminem are from relapse, idk why ppl say it's bad when it's probably his best album
I was wondering how many opinions on this would shift after peoples tastes matured
Relapse is easily my favourite album ever, not just from em but in general. It's so unique.
Relapse also has Eminem's absolute strongest hooks, which have always been a weakness of his in the modern era.
I don't think you understand what makes a good album I can't genuinely sit down and just vibe to the album I cant laugh at any of the humor or appreciate the flows or entredres I just see it as a gal between shit like Rain Man/Ass Like That and Cold Wind Blows/ Not Afraid
i don't see Blood Meridian to be made as a film but more like a show.
🌵💯💯
I always loved Relapse. No joke like 2 weeks ago I felt like revisiting it. Man. I like to think of me as a most objective Em fan, but this is really strong album. I guess if you are going into the album with accents in mind, you will not notice the balance betwene his normal voice and accents. Rhyming is dope, and the way album flows song to song at times feels a lot like MMLP. Some songs have that Encore feel to them as far as the hooks are conserned, but most if not all of the verses make up for those. Honelsy great album, almost a classic on a good day, and it gives the same vibe that the darkest songs from SSEP give. 8-8.5/10.
RIP to an amazing director.
I’ve been dead on this hill for so long I’m happy to see a video about it
"Things get worse" which i think was supposed to be on Refill and "Stay wide awake" as well as "Careful what you wish for" are the best 3 off the album for me
Underground, my darling and must be the ganja for me
Fckn great man!😂
Bro 8:23 is so good glad he left that in the vid 😂
This is exactly what I've been thinking for years. I'm glad someones finally touching on this.
Relapse is my favourite Em album and I hate how much he talks bad on it
