What I find most amusing about this particular, classic cartoon, are the risque paintings that Porky has hanging on the walls of his apartment. (see if you can spot them) One shows two, completely naked women on a bed (one light skin, and one dark skin) with their breasts in full view. Another, shows a woman standing between two rows in a farmer's field, with one leg held high, apparently waiting to get "plowed". Someone certainly had a great sense of humor back in the day! It's no wonder these are referred to as "classic cartoons"! They sure don't make 'em like this anymore. Absolutely love it!

Cute touch: When the manager rushes back to the club with Porky, it looks like they just ran the animation of him running out backwards. It just adds to the manic pace of this short.

What's funny is that in The Captain's Christmas they kept the short uncensored including the dancing doll bit so who knows? They might put this short on here uncut. As for The Old Black Magic I'm more familiar with the Louie Prima and Keely Smith version especially when Jim Henson used the song in Sam and Friends.

It's a good short, and as always it's neat to learn more about the place, songs used and the performers that Porky was imitating. Nickelodeon would cut the Cab Calloway and Chinatown bit (although apparently they kept the audio) but surprisingly not Cartoon Network in either version. Plus a Fibber McGee and Molly reference with the telegram delivery driver. Besides the songs the animation of Porky conducting throughout the short is the highlight especially the Cab Calloway sequence. Sure this isn't a classic short by either Porky or Frank Tashlin but despite that it's a good short and has good animation at times overall an 8 out of 10. Apparently according to Google yes the Minnie the Moocher short is in the public domain. Speaking of that short next year the 2 leads Betty Boop and Bimbo will also be in the public domain.

My criticism is that there's only one Bugs Bunny cartoon (Lighter Than Hare), which was released before, but I think it was put there because people complained about how it wasn't properly formatted. Same thing with "Stork Naked". But that's just a small complaint.

They need to put those corrections out somewhere, I’ll take them as bonuses. The question is where are we going to get more upgrades from the Goldens? Will they start a new series or something like that? That fact we still don’t have something like Hare Trigger or Rhapsody Rabbit available on Blu is ridiculous and that’s just Bugs Bunny.

You mean "Ain't That Ducky"? I guess so. I'm guessing because of the part where Daffy's hairs become pickneed braids (which are stereotypically black if you know anything about African-American hairstyles) after the Victor Moore Elmer clone shoots at Daffy's head (a part that's normally cut from Cartoon Network and MeTV, though the latter channel did air it uncut with a warning about racially insensitive content) that an official release won't happen, but considering that the Collector's Choice Blu-rays aren't meant for children, I don't see why they can't remaster it for Blu-ray.

I get that it’s higher quality, but I think every cartoon that hasn’t been restored on disc in either format should be put out first (though cartoons that were only put out as bonus features on Warner Archive Blu-Ray releases of movies, the cartoons on the I Love Tweety DVDs that aren’t yet restored on disc in the US, and cartoons that have yet to be put out on disc in their proper aspect ratio are acceptable).

Oh my godd I could say sooo much right now! First,at about 10:00 one of you mentioned Bob Clampett. That’s good. If you were a dog,I would toss you a meaty snack. Duck amuck is a masterpiece, deserving of its number 2 spot. It’s a cartoonist’s cartoon, but it falls on the noggins of non-cartoonists because it simply speaks the iconic language that we all just speak. My greatest memory was in Boston Massachusetts,it was in a theater, and it was 2 hours of Warner brothers cartoons. No Time Machine needed. I witnessed a theater full of people laughing to the piont of tears. A prime moment was the toon about that dog,Mark Anthony, who falls in love with the kitten. His face,on the BIG screen, when he thinks the kitten is made into a cookie,oh my god,it was truly epic Chuck Jones moment. I wil sheddepp shuttin up now.

Over half a decade later and this is still my favorite physical media release of the 2020s so far! It would have been nice if there was a fourth disc to bring the shorts up to 80, one for each year celebrated, but I’m glad we’ve at least gotten shorts like Elmer’s Pet Rabbit, The Unruly Hare, and Beanstalk Bunny that should have been on this set on the Collector’s Choice Volumes.
