Kelowna: 5 Days Before The Fire
มุมมอง 276ปีที่แล้ว
I shot this footage when I was back in Kelowna. I never intended to do much with it, I just like to fly drones, and record landscapes. What I didn't realize was that I was recording a landscape that would be forever altered a few days later. The westside's northern shoreline has been completely destroyed by the fire, and so much of Kelowna continues to be in the line of the worst wildfire to ev...

A very good way to sell Surrey😍 ! I expect now the Hawaï 5.0 version from the 70's, or maybe the Miami Vice version from the 80's 🙂

Investment boxes
@stinkfinger630 yep investments from people who don't even live here .
@@kevinpatriquin822 Oh well, I guess I can’t be upset with the buyers, just the governments that have encouraged the investments. But, that’s international capitalism for ya’. The rich get richer (and buy luxury condos); and the poor get poorer (and find tent encampments under overpasses) - tale as old as time.
Wow! Phenomenal growth all over the past decade. Thanks for the rock and roll!
here for Skeler
Quintessentially Vancouver. Hyper density in a new tower development surrounded by a sea of detached houses a block away. Middle density can't replace this archaic zoning soon enough.
It's close to SkyTrain. Most of the zoning restrictions have been lifted within a radius. The surrounding area will soon densify
So, should they just not build it? It's not like loads of extra apartments is going to hurt.
Hi Love your videos, I’m hoping that sometime you will do my city Surrey Central ?🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽
10 years still going at it 😂
Dystopia creeps in, slowly, like a cancer, it spreads and destroys everything.
I’m sorry, but up against the Shangrila and former Trump tower, the Stack is not very impressive at all!
Love that the Crate and Barrel building said F it, we aren't selling, build around us😂👍🍻
not a total rip off of Radiohead at all, nope.
This district is a part of Vancouver?
Metrotown is part of Burnaby (a city that borders Vancouver).
@@SeaToSkyImages tnx for the anwser
Impressive skyline! Vancouver area feels much bigger than it really is with these smaller skylines spread out over the city.
Looks pretty cool. How was this mega project next to lowrise detached houses ever approved?
A subway line runs underneath it, so the entire area was rezoned. Most of those detached houses surrounding the project will be gone within 10 years.
@@SeaToSkyImages Wow, impressive! Will the area between this and the downtown area be densified?
@@markuserikssen Along the main arterial road (Cambie St) it's already well underway. As for the surrounding neighbourhoods, yes. The housing crisis in Vancouver has made municipal and province politicians start to think long and hard about the usefulness of single family homes that sit on lots worth $3.5 - $4 million dollars. I suspect we'll see more and more inner city neighbourhoods get rezoned.
You’re clearly unobservant / blind - there have been apartment buildings surrounding Oakridge since 1963.
@@SeaToSkyImagesyeah for like one month they just want more
Great video! Ice District really does help the skyline pop. Before it you couldn't see downtown from most areas... Now? As long as you look up, there it is...
Most definitely. The skyline is visible from almost everywhere now.
what are they building?
They are building a massive mixed use project (condos, offices and a mall). The area was a mall from the 1960s before the construction started.
@@SeaToSkyImages very interesting! i bet housing will more when this is complete
RpHone numbers
did theyresume after accident?
Agreed, Ktown is amazing, but for the love of god please do something with the highway lights near the bridge. 4 lights in one kilometre. 🤬😂🤯
They need to build more. The NDP are not delivering enough permits on time. I dont understand why ppl keep voting for these losers.
Ask the residents in the area how they enjoy being in the area with a company that doesn’t care how they inconvenience residents. Also, workers that put their signs on edge of driveways where cars can be damaged
Kelowna is amazing 👏
You just don't miss!
Always a pleasure.
Great video!
This is awesome drone shots. Keep doing awesome videos from Vancvouver!
Thanks!
Very beautiful
Great shot following the skytrain out of Metrotown Station!
Thanks!
What’s the name of the song, it’s dope, I love the videos, amazing
Thanks! The band is Podium and the song is called Una Coraza.
@@SeaToSkyImages great, thank you
I used to live down there in that very area. Sad to see atleast semi obtainable housing for average Joes being destroyed for overseas money. I would happily give my life to prevent the rest of Canada being hollowed out for foreign interests the way Metrotown has been. This video isnt the advertising win you think it is, unless you're beholden to foreign interests. The "refugees" of the demovictions from these areas inevitably flee to where I have found myself, and further drive up housing costs, aside from foreign economic merceneries of other stripes flooding my area. I hate it. I hate the people that enable it. I hate the government that allows it. I HATE the so called "fellow citizens" that vote for it. Actual. Fucking. Scum.
what drone is this
an illegal one.
@@JJ-gm4ck yeah but which series, mini or mavic
@@Parjesh888 It's a DJI Mini 2
I love the unique design of this complex, particularly that ominous (yet cool) curved central tower that you can see from Downtown as well as from as far away as Richmond.
Was just there (and walking around Burnaby Lake) yesterday! Brentwood will look similar to this in a number of years, too.
Another awesome video. Wonder if you could capture a video of the area visible when driving north/west on highway 1 towards vancouver. I believe it's the brentwood skyline. It looks so freaking awesome from highway 1 these days, id be curious how it looks from other angles
For sure. I'll get out there soon to capture it around dusk.
@@SeaToSkyImages <3
Very nice. The Gold House 0:46 is always looking good, my favorite tower on Beresford St.
I like those towers too. A nice addition to MT.
And they don't have the height restrictions of DT Van, either. But is there something with the airport flight path, or can they build as tall as they want?
I don't think they are any restriction in Metrotown. I'm not 100% sure, but I've never heard anything regarding a flight path.
No airports in Burnaby, YVR flights go over Richmond Delta and harbour flights in DT Van
1:09 great shot!
Vancouver is the best simcity map
Incredible footage @1:12, this city is really changing dramatically
Not for the better
Even though one died here recently, they're making good progress!

Are you on crack or something? Where are the windows? The site looks the same as a year ago. No windows no commissioning, no occupancy. Less than a year away from that day. You call that good progress? Jokeridge is in a bad place.
Cool
Only place to go is up!
A Golden Gate moment there!
That's the first thing I thought when the fog was rolling in.
@@SeaToSkyImages yeah, you got to take those opportunities to shoot when they happen!
No! Honking is illegal. Does NOT sound like this.
What do you mean? You just watched a video of the horns. Do you not believe what you just heard in this video? Taxi drivers never cared that honking was illegal back then. They did it anyway - even in front of the hospitals. Maybe it's different in 2024. I haven't been back in a few years.
Thanks for the update! Kelowna is looking good, even in the winter now!
Yeah. The changes are coming quickly now.
What drone you using
I'm using a DJI Mini 2
Nice! Has a floating city vibe at points.
Vancouverites have a reputation of having our heads in the clouds sometimes, so that makes sense.
sugoi~~~!!!!
