Great video, thank you for sharing. With Expanded Distribution, what happens if (for example) a bookstore orders your book, and at a later time returns it, are you then owing back the money that was paid out to you. I understand that through Ingram that you can set it so books cannot be returned.
Does anyone know what is Dziewanna's symbol? Like for Marzanna it's big X with cross on each end, but what about Dziewanna? A big C ?
@@spyromalin6618 many of the symbols of are modern make, but this is the one I found for her. I assume it represents her hunting bow. commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Devana_symbol_red.svg

Veles also combines traits of Pan, Hermes, Dionysus, Apollo, AND Hades!

She's 5'3" or 5'4"looks like a thinner version of the witch from Snow White the one that gives you the apple. She's muscular and her skin looks like old wood not rotten like zombies but tough like bark. She wears what you would think an old polish grandmother would wear layered and doilies clean blacks and greys mostly. Then she bends over going down to all fours. Turning into something that looks like smoke and a wet shadow. She moved like some kind of predatory insect or lizard
Thank you, it's not easy to find good material on such topics.
I've recently discovered the subtly related mythology that connects this dragon to its neighbor areas. Zemyna's name from the Baltic countries was remembered but also shortened in an unknown way Zemy went from meaning earth to meaning snake in its etymology, as well as that this dragon's three headed idea came from memories of the rarer depictions of the lindwyrm in details of Yggdrassil's stories, and some of the lindwyrm scenes also include Niddhogg,
Is this not available to read anymore?
There is a link in the description.
These dudes need to be remembered. Washington is not a good general.he lost every battle.he was a great leader not a general.

The noonwraith appears in Witcher 3.
so if i remember correctly zmey can take the form of men so i like the idea of chudo-yudo taking the appearance of a lifeguard who like sits at the top of a slide "the slide being the river that sits between nav and jawia" and hes the one allowing people to go down. hes also got a nametag with chud written in sloppy handwriting because i think thats double funny.
@@wincongaming2576 I'm imagining a dragon lifeguard with many heads shouting "WALK" before they slide into the flaming river lol

Is it true that Veles is also associated with music and musicians?

@@curtpiazza1688 the real problem is their names.the have to many constant's and not enough vowel's.that why his metals he deserved got overlooked.the Americans could not spell his name properly.i am American and I think this was the problem.
Is the "w" supposed to be pronounced as a "v"?
@@JJWolford It's Polish, so yes.
@@brendannobleauthor3251Polish? What countries were considered Slavic?
@@JJWolford Slavic isn't a "were". It's a modern ethnicity as well. There are many: Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, North Macedonia (I think I got them all there).
@@brendannobleauthor3251 My bad. So, do you write stories? Do you have any tips on how to design and name fictional countries?

Hey,give you an advice - if you want to explain old Slavic gods and goddesses properly, you should start with ethimology, simply concentrate on what their names mean in old Slavic,as Slavic names are descriptive,in all Slavic languages. Then, partly, their characters and roles in the life of old Slavs will be explained.

Do you (or anyone that sees this) know what Domowik thinks of you looking at visible representations of himself? Like statues or figurines?
Thank you! I'm looking into different perspectives on foxes, and other animals from around the world.
nice video
I have wondered if this was sort of an April Fools’ Day that arose from some peasants or someone else impersonating the priest from the day before, that being Easter. The priest likely walked through an aisle of the church spraying the holy water from the little scepter/baton thing that casts the water in drops. As masses were performed in Latin, Smigus Dyngus ( pronounced SHMEE-goose DING-oose) would have been a parody of Latin. My experience of Smigus Dyngus was that the point was to catch people unawares, and spritz them or soak them or something in between. Obviously the most polite was to dip your fingers in a glass and spritz with your fingers. It just si happens that this year Smigus Dyngus falls exactly on April Fool’s Day.
It reminds me of a chochol. Similar appearance (covered with straw, straw man).
Nowadays, in polish slang language 'chała'(hawa) means something of bad quality, uninteresting, junk etc.
We want more of these slavic and russian stories, pls :)
I do not believe that you know what you are talking about. Your mish-mash is amateurish and superficially "researched". No wonder why you are trying to write "fantasy", you're reality is already a fantasy. Adding noise does not clarify the signal. You were taught by idiots.
Cool channel bud. I own a heating and cooling shop. We are all Polish and Ukrainian. We love your work
I'm gonna check this book out. Probably the first actual slavic fantasy, I've seen people say that the witcher series is slavic but other than the fact that it was written in poland the series has a a very western european setting.
Gods do evolve into being.
Please (if you are not Zaharustrian or in the Abrahamic, maybe som other religions) kindly let go of the concept of duality. Perun and Veles more take "shifts" during the wheel of the year in protecting the people. Admitted, Veles is a bit shady but to come through taff times like the winter you need a trickster good on you side. When times become better then go back to the noble good like Perun.
Lada story is similar like many other goddess stories. I honestly think that they are all the same but called differently. We can start from a far in a religious mythology. Was this Inanna, Aphrodite, Morning Star, Freya or maybe Mary Magdalene? Name does not change any thing she is still a goddess.
I agree that many mythologies have a lot of similarities and common characters. It's part of the fun part of researching them, because you see how our roots are often more alike that they may seem.
How many books does The Frostmarked Chronicles have in all?
Currently 4, but there will be 5 upon completion. There are also 2 side-novellas.
@@brendannobleauthor3251 In every book of the series, there are symbols of the gods at the back, well, who will be in the next book? Will it be Perun, Stribog, Svarog, Dazbog, or a secret?
@@gahwein_triglav 1: Marzanna 2: Weles 3: Mokosz 4: Czarnobog 5: A symbol of a crescent moon over an eclipsed one. If you read through book 3, you'll know what I'm describing, but I can't spoil things by explaining more.
Question: From the vague descriptions you did manage to find, do any of them imply whether the Aspid is a single draconic entity or a species of more than one?
My best guess would be a species.
@@brendannobleauthor3251 Awesome! Where'd you get the colored image of it fighting some people from?
@@theropen1997 I usually try to link the artist if I could find them, but I couldn't for this one. It's been awhile, but I think I saw it on the website of Nicholas Kotar, another Slavic fantasy author. He didn't list the illustrator.
@@brendannobleauthor3251 Thank you for being so responsive ^^
Thank you for the imfo !
Perun vs Veles wasn't order vs chaos (Veles was actually also a god of wisdom). Perun vs Zmaj (or zmey - dragon) was order vs chaos (like Amon Ra vs Apophis).
Isn’t earth a neutral zone where no god has control
