ATA Turqua 6.5 Creedmoor Review
Update: These rifles are currently being sold in North America under the Stevens brand (Model 334). The biggest difference I have seen is that the trigger adjustment screw isn't accessible from the factory.

This was terrible
Just be aware if you are in the united states and you need parts like mine did there is ZERO support from ATA, you can't get parts, they have nobody that imports any parts and they will not help you in any way. I've been a month trying to get a trigger assembly like a few other owners and now they won't even reply to my emails anymore. i never got hateful or rude they just basically ghosted me after I tried and tried to get the parts. I tried, U.S., Canada and Australia n importers even - ZERO help from ATA, I even tried Savage who imports these and calls the the Stevens 334
Think tactical imports is having a hard time getting rid of these fucking things 😂
Where would i purchase one of these i have a pulse fire as my under barrel attachment but this seems more practical
Try getting any replacement parts for these rifles. I'm needing a trigger assembly for mine - ATA is no help, every company in the 🇺🇲 & 🇨🇦 they tell me to contact no help, most don't even deal with ATA & don't know why I was told to contact them. No overseas distributors can help. Just know that before you buy one there are ZERO parts available for these if they need repair and mine did. Probably the worst customer service I've ever encountered unfortunately
@@Yelladog78 That really sucks to hear. Thanks for the heads up.
i like your shirt
Can I use 2 3/4 shell on this or just 3 inch shell?
@@norieldela5472 you can also use 2 3/4. That’s what I’ve been using
@@maritimemarksman5808 sounds good thank you.
Hello! I am from Brazil and I have the opportunity to buy an ATA rifle with a 20” barrel. With this configuration, can I also achieve sub-MOA groupings? My friends say the ideal would be a 26” barrel. My shots will be between 100-150m and occasionally up to 300m. The caliber I am acquiring is .308 Win.
Just obliterated that power supply! 😊
मेरे पास भी राईफल राईफल है 280 रॉस राईफल है
I hate pudding bro
my 300wm cases have started to separate after 2 firings.
Perhaps more velocity will allow the bullets to stabilize even with .284 bullets.
I also have an M80, but the pull is quite heavy two kilograms, I don't know if you can adjust the trigger even easier?
How do you know which 280 goes to what rifle? Seems there are 3 types. Rimmed, rimless, and belted.
Hey buds, hopefully resuscitating this comment section 😉 I haven’t been able to find any current online reference’s to folk’s experiences with the LPC so hoping you or your veiwers might chime in. I bought an LPC upper/lower kit last year or so, and to me the bolt lock up is sketchy AF! Down range rounds are floating everywhere through a proven barrel and round combo (I swapped all my 20” service rifle rig into the LPC kit) I feel like the bolt, lacking a spring, has a very tenuous lock up and shifts out of battery ever so slightly upon firing. So long story short I’m curious if anyone else has experienced this. Not to mention feeding issues with Magpul mags, rounds not seating fully into the bolt face etc…lol
Debating same stuff myself

If you ever feel like selling the SL-8 keep me in mind. I just sold a rifle and the SL8 is on my radar for a build. Im in NS
Use lube on the bolt, it gets very smooth. I would like to know where to get this rifle in the USA, vs the Stevens 334.
it's going away in the U.S.,that was part of the deal when Savage imported them. Guess they don't want people seeing how good the rifle actually could be before they stripped it of all it's features and good trigger
try handloads 350gr maybe 2300fps be careful
The most useless video I have ever seen
Thanks Robert.
Does the action have control feed, Mauser type? Is the trigger assembly plastic?
Push feed, plastic trigger guard
@@Scotttt34 I watched a clip in Russian where they were comparing bore erosion after shooting and storing uncleaned this Turkua and some other gun. Regardless of barrel wear, the bore scope showed that the unfired Turkish barrel seems to be assembled of three separate sections, rather loosely connected by some kind of contact welding? Or maybe these pronounced seams have another origin? Or purpose?
Good video on an interesting cartridge. Would love to see a picture of the fire formed case and how well it fireforms. It seems a terrible waste to use Woodlieghs for punching paper. I would suggest you check out Hawk Bullets as a replacement for the Woodlieghs. They list a bullet specifically for the 280 Ross. Also, if plinking/practice is more what you have in mind I would suggest you checkout Accurate Molds website. They list a number of designs in that caliber and if you don,t see something you like you can a design a bullet to fit your gun/needs.These are high quality molds that will last the average shooter a lifetime. Plus lead bullets will NOT harm barrels, even the older softer barrels. Fired at 2200 fps a flat point bullet is a very effective hunting bullet. I know as I use a 200 grain RCBS bullet in my 35 Rem.Contender for hunting whitetail deer. Very effective and far less expensive than jacketed slugs. If you go the cast route, get a mold that uses a gas check on the bullet, improves accuracy at hunting velocities. If plinking/low recoil rounds are preferred then learn how to powder coat bullets. Not difficult and you can find tutorials right here on youtube.
Great video, thank you for sharing.
how much varget and what weight bullet
Great video, thanks for sharing.
That thing got a kick that bad? I’m afraid to shoot mine now😮😮😮😮
It’s not that bad, gun Chad is just a bit of a wuss 😏
First one I've seen on utube with iron sights. Something new?
i've reviewed this same rifle on my channel !! the stevens 334 walnut version does not have iron sights. and the bolt is almost the same!
What is the difference in the 334 and Turqua bolts?
Great video, thanks for sharing.
I love the ross, have a military M-10 in .303 my heart sank when mine did the same thing. I got a little bit better accuracy out of it when I cast some over sized bullets. I wish the Ross did not get as much flak as they are really cool rifles. I have always heard the sporting/hunting rifles were so much nicer than the military ones. I would love to pick one up, were they all in 280? Just curious if you know.
Good news the sporters were available in .303 British (and a few other calibers). They came in different trim options as well. The Model E had a plain stock and basic adjustable sight, while the model R had beautiful checkering and flip-up express sights. They were also available in different barrel lengths.
That is good news! I figure if I have to cast/reload for it, I rather be something I am familiar with if possible. How does that shooting of yours now, any luck with it at all? Where did you learn about the R and E models, a book I might be able to find?@@maritimemarksman5808
You are right Maritime, they came in 303 and 35 Win as well. The R was the base model though, the E was the ‘mid grade’. M was flagship. There was also the 1905 action models in R and E configurations as well as the 1907-E also known as the Scotch Deer Stalker that was the first factory sporter in 280 Ross. I’m currently headed down the wormhole of reloading for these too, as I finally got a set of dies after 15 years of looking.
Great video, thanks for sharing. Haven’t found the woodliegh bullets yet, still searching. Doing not bad with powder coated lead. Thanks again.
These are NOT the Stevens model 334! The Stevens 334 are NOT nearly as accurate as the ATA Turqua.
I own both rifles, they are exactly the same and shoot exactly the same, how did you arrive at that comment>
they are rebranded by Savage as the 334
They are exactly the same .
so you mean ata turqua better?
@bigdevil9774 I had my ATA Turqua zeroed in, in 3 shots. Mine also has a 2 stage trigger, I'm not sure about the Stevens.
Be good if it wasn't in the need more what a sisy weak round
Cope harder, neckbeard
Where did you find this gun on sale?
Ammo Source had them for a while.
The screw on the Stevens model trigger does nothing for the pull weight or at least mine didn't. It does however take up some of the travel I would be leery of removing too much travel it might create a dangerous situation. I rotated the screw to the limit on mine and the pull weight was never reduced by more than four ounces and was not consistent. I rotated it back to where it was factory set and with some fine tuning got the pull weight to about four pounds and six ounces.
Thanks for the info! Sad they did that to a nice trigger. I’m guessing it was for liability reasons or something like that.
There are 2 different adjustment screws
Not on the model I have maybe the ones ATA sells.@@justinpennington7682
@@justinpennington7682not anymore, they took away the adjustment screw that sets the spring preload, so the only screw accessible is the second stage. You have to disassemble the trigger and cut or replace springs to adjust the trigger pull.
@@justinpennington7682 Savage blinds off the adjustment screw now, at first they just put epoxy on the threads now you have to drill into the screw and use an extractor bit to remove it then replace it with a new screw that has a head or slot
Great video, thanks for sharing.
Got 1 with ammo..shoots great
Friends had one leaning up in the corner of their spare bedroom when I stayed over one time. I asked about 50 years later whatever happened to the rifle and they didn't know.
Kynoch bullets are slightly different than dominion, also berdan prime cases
Got a .280 and 30 roubds of kynoch ammo plus some reloaded dominion
Great video, thanks for sharing. Have a 7mm mold that casts out at 286. Then powder coat. Comes to 289. I have two rifles. Just got them in the fall. Both work well at 50 yards with 10 gr. Of unique. The bullet is 135 gr. Will try to up the powder charge next summer. Range not accessible till may..
What is the difference between the ruger 1 and ruger 3?
The No. 3 is basically “we have no. 1 at home”. It’s simplified and less fancy overall. No stock checkering, simplified locking lever, very basic iron sights and buttplate. The action is just as strong though and is capable of firing No. 1 rates loads.
Let's see you shoot a big old stump instead of a measly plastic jut.
Sure
What do you do with the rim on the 300 win?
Luckily you don’t have to do anything with the belt. The cases chamber just fine and fireform nicely.
I have the case forming dies and reloading dies from C&H so forming is not a problem. The bullets are another problem. The riffle is basically a barreled action since it has been modified so much. I was thinking of re-barreling it to 7mm-280, and using collet dies to form the 7mm neck. What do you think? The other option is to paper patch 7mm to .294.
A lemon shooting lemons, lol
It’s pretty much a mosberg 500 with no stock 😂
False, it’s a Turkish 870 clone with no stock. 💁♂️
Hello from Victoria, BC. That’s a beautiful rifle, not enough of them around. It’s great to see a video like this, (made in Canada?) with a Canadian made rifle. That action looks slick!?
Greetings from the maritimes! Thank you for watching. Ross action is incredibly slick, even compared to other straight-pull designs. The military rifles get all the attention, but the sporters are some of the nicest hunting rifles of their time.
What is your average grouping like with these rifles?
Great, lightweight, powerful , strong rifle... Hand loaders dream rifle...
I heard that loading it with black powder also is safe.
