I completely agree. I stand by what I said last year that Pharrell should have been a collaboration instead of the Creative Director. Plastering his face on the designs is just as you said “merch”-like.

Love all your videos! Im a bit bummed out today. I left my cognac onthego mm to get fixed because the leather was peeling. When I went to pick it up, they said it was defective and that since it’s a limited edition, they don’t have any more available. 😞They gave me a full credit to buy any other bag.. The thing is, I really love my cognac otg. Do you know if there will be any new cognac totes released this year? I’m not really interested in the Neverfull, since I already own a few of those. Thank you!

A luxury purchase should be envisioned as throwing money in the trash. If you can’t afford to take a financial loss on an object because you wanna let it go then you can’t afford it because even if it appreciates in value… due to sellers fees on platforms and consignment costs you WILL LOSE MONEY

Great tips! I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning and ended up selling for a loss in most cases. Your first point is so important…..that resale value is not guaranteed, even for iconic bags.

This was a great video! I want to save and review the reports. I remember your experience with your Chanel. Something I always think about is whether a style that’s super trendy is even worth buying from a luxury house because chances are in a year, or maybe even less, it might not be something in demand and also one that will drop a lot in resale value. In general, it’s a safer bet to go with a classic shape.

So true about the resale value of items & consignment shops. But it’s a perk to know if a handbag will retain its value over time. Great video! ❤❤

This is fantastic, my librarian heart is singing at the cataloging codes. 😂 Just a side note on an issue I’ve experienced with the app specifically: sometimes searching by an exact item ID won’t bring up the item, even if the listing’s still up-I think it has to do with the fact that listings contain links out to similar items (e.g. you can jump from monogram canvas to the empreinte or epi versions of an item, or you can jump from the BB listing to MM, or different colors, etc.), and I think some of the items get hidden from the top-level search because they’re tucked into a subtype niche, if that makes sense. I’m sure most people aren’t searching by item ID number, but just in case other persnickety types are doing this! In those cases I search by item name and look through the various versions to double check that it really isn’t there vs just being hidden. Semi-related question: do you keep any kind of systematic log of the LV items you present in your release videos, or do you rely on lookbooks to be the record? I recently started an IG just to have a makeshift archive of the listings of recent collections, because it bothers me that they just disappear into the ether, but lord knows IG can be just as ephemeral as anything else. I’m sure LV has their own internal record, but I wish they had some kind of public digital archive, just for posterity’s sake. Maybe that’s just the obsessive nerd in me talking though. 😂
