A Brief History of Cardiff
This video takes a brief look at the fascinating and interesting history of Wales' captial city, Cardiff. Regardless of its status as Wales' capital, Cardiff has a unique and intriguing history in its own right and I thought it was something worth making a video on! Hopefully, this video helps someone to learn something new about Cardiff or can even inspire someone to visit Cardiff if they haven't already! :)
Apologies for not getting this video up on the usual Wednesday, I had some problems with filming and editing it that I haven't experienced before. But, huzzah I've finally got it uploaded!
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Contents of this video ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
0:00 - 0:35 - Introduction
0:36 - 1:42 - What is Cardiff and Where is it Exactly?
1:43 - 11:00 - The History of Cardiff
11:01 - 12:10 - Conclusion
I've recently finished my degree in Politics at Cardiff University and during my studies I have spent a lot of time looking at devolution in Wales. Although, I have often found that there is an EXTREME lack of accessible sources of information on devolution in Wales. So, with that in mind I have created this channel with the purpose of providing clear, understandable and entertaining videos targeted at providing better information about Politics in Wales, Welsh History and Wales itself along with some other interesting things!
As this is only one of the first videos on the channel please bare with me as some things are still a little rough around the edges and so I'm hoping these things will improve with time. If enough people find the videos interesting or helpful then I'll try my best to continue producing them alongside my studies at university.
Please provide any feedback if you wish to! I would be extremely grateful for anything positive, negative or constructive to help me improve for the future! :)
So subscribe to the channel for the next video and give me a follow over Twitter or Instagram to keep up to date with the production of new videos or just me in general.

The majority of Welsh people voted to leave the EU, now the republicans in the " Say Yes " movement seem to base their economic policy on being part of it. Having attended all their meetings in Swansea yesterday, apart from sentiment, their arguments are economically weak and eutopian. Wearing a rugby jersey and a bucket hat will not address the massive flaws in their plans. On the panels yesterday the majority of the speakers were university graduates espousing social democracy, and bottom up economics. These proposed Marxist dogmas would require a monumental shift in world monetary policy and their arguments for "going it alone" would be suicide. As we accept that the demographic of Wales is changing, we must acknowledge an influx of migrant workers, their plans do not account for this. An Afghan family will not care about Welsh independance, they care about stability and safety. The virtue siganaling for a multicultural Wales, may well be the undoing of this Plaid Cymru led cabal.

  • @andrewcooney2387

This is the best accessment so far as far as Wales is concerned, brexit is good for Wales because it has woken up the welch people to its future and where they need to be. The aid budget will be cut to between 350 million and 450 million over time as funds gets less and less, the Westminster government will not be funding Wales, because they will need the money to prop up the English economy going forward. Scotland found this out when tacther cut funding to Scotland in the 80s to shore up the English economy. There is another massive loss to Wales, brexit has forced the Irish government to purchase a large freight sailing fleet to send goods to the EU and bypass the welch ports and services industry also the English service industry as well. This is not intended to be a slight on Wales not at all, but because Dover has now been virtually closed down. This means that the land bridge is gone. My welch very good friends tell me that this is a very serious loss to Wales and as an Irish man I feel sorry about this. I wish I could have something good to say about all of this madness but I don't Beacuse there is nothing good about it. People in the UK were lied to by some very devious business people who don't give a dam about the people of the UK and these same people have moved their millions into the EU while they still argue that brexit is a very good idea. They have done so much harm to the UK and some of these people are working for some very nasty government's in other places in the world, not hard to figure why. Scotland is on the way to freedom and I support them in this it is a very intelligent move for the people of Scotland and will be the best decision they will ever have made. In Ireland I hope the unionist people will set down their agenda and concerns for what they need when Ireland is united which will now happen, and I believe that they will be a very strong addition to the new Ireland inside the EU where businesses will continue to do very well for all people living on this island. Thank you for your video. All the best from Ireland.

I am from an area that voted majority to leave the EU. In our area at least there was a big feeling that we were being left out of all the beneficial aspects of the EU. Employment for example. There being persistently unemployed is considered a viable career choice. Yet even with HUGE levels of unemployment, we would weekly see bus fulls of EU citizens coming in to carry out jobs there. This formed anger, not at the EU citizens, but the employers who are exploiting EU laws to bolster their profits at the cost of our community. And honestly, the living conditions there for residents was already so bad, that it has not gotten any worse after Brexit.

English immigrants had a BIG influence. Gwynedd and Ceredigion have the highest highest percentage of English immigrants, mainly middle class, hence remainers. Monmouthshire and Vale of Glamorgan virtually are ENGLISH. So otherwise Brexit might've got a clean sweep. Obviously places like Merthyr are 90% Welsh born, solid working class brexiteers.
