Sustainably from Nordic wood – Lunawood & Metsä Fiber
The thermally modified wood produced by Lunawood in Finland is used for decorative surfaces in all types of construction around the world.
By using Metsä Fibre’s sawn timber in its products, Lunawood obtains reliable information about the origin of the wood as well as valuable assistance with sustainability throughout its supply chain.
Sustainability is part of every stage of operations at Lunawood, a Finnish producer of certified ThermoWood®. As its raw material, Lunawood uses Nordic spruce and pine sawn timber from certified forests, which it procures from Finnish sawn timber suppliers such as Metsä Fibre. The thermal modification process is carried out without chemicals, using only heat and steam.

El proceso de producción patentado, Thermowood®, se basa en la modificación térmica gradual de la madera, en donde las propiedades químicas y físicas sufren un cambio permanente. La modificación térmica mejora las propiedades de la madera nórdica dentro de toda la pieza. Durante el proceso, la madera se trata solo con vapor y calor, no se utilizan productos químicos en ninguna etapa del proceso.
