Plants high notes coming out here is honestly a small miracle. He had had vocal surgery a year prior and during rehearsal he couldn't even hit the highs he hits in this video. The crew were concerned he wouldn't be able to make it through the tour. Somehow he did though.
It is the song "Woodstock" and not the song "San Francisco". Although in the film "The Song Remains the Same" , the band does briefly breakout into "San Francisco " . "If your going to San Francisco " . I'm on to you this is an excerpt from " Dazed and Confused", and that's why it has no proper ending !
Exactly! It goes back even further: he was already using the same guitar parts for the San Fransisco part of Dazed And Confused in the 1973 Madison Square Garden shows.
@@AnalogOpher yes and even the rhythm of the vocals, "it was an April morning when they told us we should go, as i turned to you you smiled at me how could we say no" resonates to this, although this is slightly slower. But nonetheless very interesting to notice how Achilles came about
Check out how Jimmy is playing from his inner soul, not to mention the fact how Gowd the f*** out he is on heroin. Fuck yeah , it's like for these "Goin to San Francisco ad libs, Jimmy was really putting it all out there, to pay homage to Frisco,Haight Ashbury, Monterrey
This is a 'cover' only in the sense of Robert using SOME of McKenzie's lyrics--the 'garden' part isn't in the original, for instance. Jimmy's music is wholly original.
Really blessed to be around when this great music was created and played just another example of how great LedZeppelin were in their respective prime not to mention poor Tom!
The lyrics "Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair" lyrics (not heard in this video) are from the song 'San Francisco' which was written by John Phillips and sung by Scott McKenzie. The "we are stardust" lyrics heard in this video are from the song 'Woodstock' which was written by Joni Mitchell.
This is awesome footage. Led Zeppelin played 5 shows at Earls Court in 1975. Tickets were around £2.50 to see the greatest pure blues-rock band the world has ever known. Can you believe that, £2.50 !! The band played for 2 hours and 30 minutes at each gig and because the shows were so long, the band interspersed songs with these ad-libbed less frenetic pieces to give the musicians a bit of a breather, for example, the acoustic set didn't include Bonham so he could rest, and then Bonham would do a 20 minute drum solo on Moby Dick, to give Page, Plant and JPJ a rest, and No Quarter mostly featured JPJ in a marathon keyboard solo. This particular piece definitely introduces the audience to a yet to be released excerpt from Achilles Last Stand, about a year before it appeared on the Presence album. Two and a half hours high class entertainment featuring Led Zeppelin in their prime for just £2.50, unbelievable. What are tribute bands charging nowadays ????
Noooo....!! Porque??. ( Perdoname, es una broma, d verdad....Disculpame, estoy Tonto con esas dos palabras, en ese modo). Muchas gracias. Te deseo lo mejor a todo el mundo..ahora, en este momento..a TI...
The name of this cover is " Woodstock" by Joni Mitchell
Zep should of finished this with original lyrics and recorded it. Great tune

CELENTE GRANCIAS POR COMPATIR EL VIDEO ESTUVIERA COMPLETO ❤❤❤
Pure chills
I was there!!!
If Robert could play some rhythm guitar or keyboards, they would sound so much fuller live.
This Is amazing soumd!!
Jimmy’s playing Achilles solo and the haunting progression would turn into Achilles later that fall on presence
Love you too 😎
Jimmy page taking time to find the right tone and melody wow what an amazing guitar player accommodating his singer🎉❤😊

Mysterious, ominous, and heavy as hell!
Come mi piace questa traccia 👍💘 l'adoro, bellissima musica, le parole purtroppo non le capisco bene... .
Look up the lyrics to join Mitchell's " Woodstock ". That's what he's singing.

Usually it was San Francisco but this night he decided to sing the lyrics from Joni Mitchells Woodstock
If you listen closely, you can hear a very early idea of Achilles Last Stand

Thank you SO much for this. The greatest tune Jimmy never put to vinyl.
They were tight that night. Phrasing from Page, Bonham and Joe excellent. Plant was the weakest link.
i guess the voice skills are the most vulnerable on droogs
@@leatherzeppelin_krystalserpent indeed. Vocal chords are fastest 8instrument to wear out.
Agreed. We all struggle with our demons, but I still feel surprised that Plant let himself go at such a young age.
Plant was always the weakest link live.
