Hi friend. Great analysis and explanation of this resources. Beautiful guitar, otherhand.
Hi! Great to see you! Yes, this guitar is a keeper! Thank you! :)
Self taught guitar players from early Blues to Jazz greats, Lonnie Johnson to Wes thought in terms of sound. Of course a musical ear, natural talent and practice help. I spent one afternoon with Mario Maccaferri in the Bronx (early 80s) He never met Django but called him a "miracle of Nature" and cited Ida Presti whom he taught as a child ,saying she played any new phrases on the spot. She learned theory of course, but she also was a natural.
Thanks for this comment sharing this story! Itâs inspiring to think of all these greats focusing on sound and feel first. Maccaferriâs 'miracle of Nature' description of Django feels spot on. For some reason I have never heard of Ida Presti. Just listened to her recording for the first time. Astonishing player!
Fantastic!!!

Honestly really impressive solo, big bag of licks well used, good balance. And your rhythm is actually quite good too. I donât even want to give constructive criticism (cause youâre really good) is that your notes donât ring out fully at times.
@@RootinrPootine Thank you for nice comment! Still so much things to practice and learn. Thanks for pointing out the ringing of notes.
@@niilooikari7243 your welcome. I mean it, Iâm stocked you can play this well. Very impressive. Perfect tone is no doubt devilishly hard to achieve. Advanced. Powerful clean rest strokes perfectly synchronized with your right handâĶ idk itâs like magic when you hear it. Djangoâs touch was just beyond good. A lot of gypsy players good donât get close. Yet, for example, Itâs interesting to watch the young master Sam Farthing. When he was really young he could still handle advanced lines but the way he struck the notes wasnât so powerful. Now you can see it clicked. Every note rings out and dynamics are always in play. Every note is controlled, not an ounce of slurring or dampening, strong vibrato. Very Clean and very Gypsy sounding. How does he do it!!??
@RootinrPootine Yeah the tone is sum of so many things. And perfect tone is always subjectiveâĶ but Djangos touch for sure was a godly one. I also really like Samâs tone. He truely is a young master and we can expect lots of great music from him. Much have been said about technique and there are some rules and patterns, and teacher always helps butâĶ In the end itâs something everyone has to figure out by themselves. Like you said about Sam: something clicked and now he has this tone which is close to perfect for style that he plays. FascinatingâĶ The study continues. Each of us play with our current technique. If worked hard enough and be lucky enough, it hopefully getâs better over time.ð
