Most areas are claimed up. However every year people forget to renew or decide not to renew so you can score a claim if you are willing to do the research.

@@keithwynnauprospectingthen5389how do u look up the status. I have mworked claims that were closed for years and years but haven’t figured out exactly how to look em up

Eagle creek is open year around for dredging. To dredge at Eagle City you need to be a member. Also you need a dredge permitt really easy to get.

Maybe with dams coming down it will open up all kinds of new areas. I would NEVER dredge in California it is illegal. At least I would never record it. Thanks for watching

You need a good pick ax or rock hammer, a couple shovels, a gold pan for the field the garret super sluice is good, a couple classiifiers, a couple buckets, muck boots and waders. Next step would be a sluice box. That would be the basics. After that it gets expensive. Highbanker, drywasher, dredge, vac pac, gold cube, detector and on and on. The older I get the more I think an ATV is required to carry me and my stuff, but they are real spendy. God luck hope this helps.

It is an interesting club, lots of what appears to be good claims, i have a vid coming up of us doing some dredging on one and then running a sluice on the shasta river claim. We are life time members do not believe they have that option any longer. We also belong to the R Ranch in Hornbrook CA, so the clib has lots of claims within an hour of there, plus the LDMA and new 49ers we pretty much have way more area then we could ever prodpect. We joined for the dredging claims in oregon. They are also looking at expanding to other areas and states, we like it so far, only members for about 9 months. Take care

Eagle City is a private mining camp, Bob does rent out spots for days weekends and longer periods, so you can camp and mine, I own a lot, so I can claim an area for an extended period, I have been working that hole for about 4 years. if you stay for long periods then Bob also lets you claim an area for extended periods. The camp ground is real popular, make sure you make reservations early. Talk to the Rangers about the mining rules, they change all the time, Rangers are real nice. Walk the beach and talk to other miners to find out which pay layer is producing the best gold, I like the blueish black stuff. Usually the middle to up north a little is the best area of the beach in the past, storms change things. Bring a wagon or something to haul your equipment, wadders to get the water from the ocean. We have family in Turtle lake, we go back and harvest maple syrup with my wifes dad every couple years, he would love for us to move there, but to far from the gold
