One if my lersonal favorite mindgames is approaching with my back turned to make them think I'll bair their shield, but instead I empty land cross-slash. Since they only expect the single hit, they usually drop shield and I usually get more off of cross-slash than grab.

Good video, earned a subscriber. Clean explanations, you've taught me some new things on a topic I thought i was already comfortable with. And i like how everythtwas outlined and structured. One thing I'd say as criticism is maybe lower the voice effects- disclaimer: its partially because I find pythras voice jarring, but the louder voices at the end were a little detracting from the gameplay I was watching. I think you were trying to highlight foresight usage, but a tally or count would have been preferable imo, and given real quantification. But on the other hand, it did express the point. Maybe I just find mythras voice annoying lol. My only other critique is that now Im gonna have to watch all your other videos! I was planning on going to sleep 😂

This video is honestly amazing despite how small your channel is. Really great and simple explanation with amazing graphics and visuals. I'm honestly obsessed with Cloud and Spargo and can't wait to see how Spargo will prepare to counteract Acola's Aegis seeing Acolas adaptment.

Great video overall. Only thing I would add (and you did mention it in more nuanced scenarios which is awesome) is how much danger the opponent is in if bair DOES land. Since bair is basically an incontestable no fly zone brick of a hit box, yes people generally don’t wanna sit in shield and just stay at cloud’s mercy, so at some point they HAVE to fight back and if you land bair it sets up for so many dangerous situations for the opponent. True combos at low %, tech chases (which can straight up kill if you have limit) at mid %, but most importantly I think is that you have to land now. If you get hit with a bair at mid-high% if it doesn’t outright kill you now you either have to deal with a tech, try to go above cloud which he can call out as spargo did in some of the clips you showed which is insta ggs on a lot of the cast or put yourself in position to get up air juggled which is also not fun (another no fly zone ahh hit box), try to land in front of him (death sentence), or just go to ledge in which case he’s free to push advantage and worst case get a free ledge trap which is an amazing situation for cloud. Basically what I’m getting at is you land bair on an opponent and you pretty much always have an rps scenario that favors cloud to the point of if he’s right you eat tons of damage or just lose the stock and if he’s wrong then 🤷🏾♂️ as long as you don’t get reversaled just do it again or go back to neutral lol. Good stuff tho bro 👍🏽

Nice breakdown! But didja have to show us barefoot Falco?? Slight correction at 6:45 If Cloud's ftilt was actually -16, DK's frame 5 jab after shield drop should actually be a true punish on the very last frame of ftilt's endlag. But it obviously wasn't a true punish here, and that's because (as you said later) ult frame data isn't always super accurate with the shield safety figures. Here, UFD didn't seem to account for freshness, which affects shield stun. Cloud ftilt does 11.0% base damage, but this increases to 11.55% when not stale. This is just enough to increase its shieldstun by 1 frame. So it is actually -15 when fresh. Also, likely unrelated, one also needs to account for an attack not hitting its full range immediately. For example, Lucina's fsmash is frame 10, but doesn't actually extend in front of her until frame 11. Samus Fsmash is also frame 10, but immediately hits its full range, making it at least 1 frame faster at punishing an enemy in front.

Hot take: Corrin bair is just as good if not better than cloud bair.
It's not even close LMAO -> slower -> less damage -> absolutely 0 true combos -> technically unsafe-er on shield (the pushback makes it harder to punish but it also means a parry makes it punishable, while parrying Cloud's bair often means that a lot of character still can't get a proper punish out of it) -> worse autocancel window (cloud's autocancels in a short hop, Corrin's in a full hop)

@andreazhab well firstly it only does one percent less damage, only two frame slower but it last longer, that push back also gives it added utility to recovery (which is an area cloud struggles in), and while it doesn’t start true combos it is a good combo ender with multiple ways to set up into those combos, and it also kill’s earlier.
Watch SpagO and Shadic play and you'll realize you're wrong
@@kelyansabz8865 cloud bair spam only exists because cloud doesn’t have any other move that can be used to the same effect. Dair and up air are too unsafe on shield while fair is safe it can be swatted out. Cloud bair is really his best move to pressure shield. Meanwhile corrin has other moves such as fair and up air to pressure shields.

Some constructive criticism. Breaking down the clips in the "how cloud uses bair" segment would be great. Even something as simple as "Cover the jump from G&W, setting up into the dair on a greedy recovery" would be a lot more helpful to players. Or in the clip with fox, how he frametraps fox into getting hit by cross slash. Stuff like positioning actually being talked about instead of "here's some clips that all end in a spike" I think this might tell a new player that the spike and timing of that is what makes spargo good, and not the coverage of bair and movement therein.

Sure...THIS unique move is what makes him good...not up smash or up air or dair or cross slash or fair or limit or up B...
Those are all broken moves but are still more situational than Cloud's bair

If mythra's foresight is a good counterplay, what about bayo'd witch time ? Does she win the matchup ?
It's not the same thing, because Foresight is attached to Mythra's dodge, Witch Time it a counter that locks Bayo in place for a long time and thus is much easier to punish when baited. Bayo only gets Bat Within on a dodge, which is faster than foresight (frame 1 instead of 2) but only gives her reduced damage and no punish out of it

Great video! I don't really play fighting games, but have been watching them on youtube a lot lately. I've always been a bit hazy on what exactly plus frames were and how they applied to blocking, move choice, and mind games, but now I feel like I finally have a clear(er) idea of how they work! Also the way you structured the video was perfect; introducing the character/move/player at the start and then breaking it down at every step. I think a lot of people make videos like this, and know what they're talking about, but don't put as much thought into how they organize and present the information, so it ends up being less informative compared to this one. And then the counter play match for the end! Awesome job!

Even though im a cloud main and i know i am biased, I personally think bair is good, but its not the reason why hes good, The combination of bair, fair, up b, and his mobility is what makes him such a great character. Honestly if bair wasnt as good as it is, people would just complain about fair, cus it is very similar to bair, Very safe, long range and combo potential. Great video❤
Fair absolutely NOT similar. You can kinda use it like bair, but the much higher startup and higher hitbox positioning means that it's much easier to be react to than bair and makes it much worse as a move when you try to punish things on reaction
