A crisp, elegantly crafted overview of Ray's music that would have pleased the great man himself. This is not the first video/movie documentary on the subject but it's probably the most helpful and distilled introduction to the subject. Rather intriguing to hear Ray's characteristically blunt views on the peripheral, if not superfluous, role of music in cinema and how he was using less and less music in his films to underscore a point -- as his 'desi' audience grew up? -- much like some of his eminent contemporaries like Bergman, Antonioni and Bunuel :)

Wonderful and touching documentary. One of Sumit-da's contribution was the development of Bengali font and the software to write Bengali text using phonetic English text, long before Avro came into picture. I am talking about late 80s and early 90s.

As a Bengali postgrad studying at the University of Queensland and living among foreigners in Brisbane, I can't help but marvel at Ray's wanderlust as reflected in his Feluda writings. I am still devouring Ananda Publishers' Completed Feluda edition tomes here. And being devoted to auteurs like Fellini, Tarkovsky and Bergman, I feel very proud as a Bengali that Ray could his own niche among the masters of world cinema, which is a huge feat. His euphonious speech is another gift.

I saw this montage first on fb and now on YT. People becoming nostalgic how the city hasn’t changed much from that time. Indeed. Apart from the attitude of the people, nothing has changed. Also, my pristine Kolkata, greener Kolkata. Be it AJC Bose Road flyover, Infinity think tank or the vessels over the Ganges. Nothing! Even the voice of Madhumanti Moitra in Metro PAS can still be found in non Medha AC rakes. The then LF Govt. stayed maximum for 7 more years from then but we get to see those things. People have changed. People were aware of their surroundings, they were smart. I wish, I get back my Kolkata!

This video is done very well. Sumit Roy was my colleague and very dear friend. Of course Bikash Roy, the legendary actor was a favorite one. Thank you Aniruddha making this film. I hope all of my Bengali friends have a chance to watch it.

I hope more people will watch this and realise as correctly pointed out that Dwarkanath Tagore's achievements paved the way for the later Tagores to become poets, painters and luminaries without the financial pressures that are part of most lives.
