Southern Railway 4501 on the TVRM Summerville Special - Part 2 - 10/19-20/2024
Hey y'all! Today we're venturing into the South once again to chase Southern Railway 4501 as she pulls the Summerville Special train for the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. This video is Part 2 of 2, which will show the northbound trip to Chattanooga.
This 100-mile round trip excursion from Chattanooga Tennessee to Summerville Georgia is the longest that TVRM runs, and it only operates on specific days, unlike the museum's "Local" trains. On this weekend, my friend @jackboy317 and I chased it to Summerville and back, stopping at many places to take photos and videos. The weather was very cooperative, giving us lots of light and clear skies. The route to Summerville features many unique landmarks, including the McFarland Gap, the Whiteside Tunnel, and others. There's many historic depots on the route as well. All of this made for a fantastic two days on the backroads of the South!
The 4501 steam engine was built in 1911, making it one of the oldest I've ever seen. It's hard to believe she's been around for that long, but the proof's right in front of us!

This is Part 2 of 2 Welcome back everyone! Today we're back with the Heartland of America tour and the Union Pacific Big Boy #4014, to finish our trip to St Louis! This 132-foot long, 4-8-8-4 steam engine built in 1941 by the American Locomotive Company is the largest operating steam engine in the US. It produces 132,375 pound-feet of tractive effort (as many as 270 modern Ford F-150s), and has...

Santa Fe 92 at Illinois Railway Museum - Diesel Days - August 11, 2024
มุมมอง 1252 หลายเดือนก่อน
Welcome back to Diesel Days 2024! This time we're checking out ATSF engine number 92, the most modern passenger diesel at IRM! Santa Fe 92 was built in 1967, at the tail end of Santa Fe's passenger era. Knowing this, the EMD designers had freight in mind, and the FP45, as it was called, could pull either load easily. The FP45s were used in freight service until the ATSF's merger with Burlington...

Welcome back! We return to IRM to see the only EMD F7 to be painted in the Chicago Metra scheme, number 308! Like Chicago & Northwestern 411, 308 was originally built in 1949 for freight service on the CNW, but was also used for passenger commuter trains as number 414. In 1999 IRM acquired both CNW locomotives, and repainted 414 to Metra 308. Still, this locomotive looks and sounds fantastic, a...

Hey everyone, I'm back! Today we're back at IRM for Diesel Days, and here is one of my personal favorite diesels at IRM, Chicago and Northwestern 411! This engine was built by EMD in 1949, and served in freight service on the CNW back in the day. However now it's being used as the engine of the bi-level passenger train at IRM, and does it look good hauling it! Hope you all enjoy the video, and ...

Today we're looking at the 0-6-0 steam engine restored by Project 113 in Minersville Pennsylvania - Central Railroad of New Jersey 113! This locomotive was built in 1923 by the American Locomotive Company (ALCO) for the CNJ. There, she did switching duties for thirty years, before being retired in favor of diesel locomotives. But 113 avoided scrap and was eventually restored by the railway rest...

Welcome back! For the final installment of the Strasburg Santa Trains, we take a look at Canadian National 89, the smallest (and fastest) of Strasburg's engines! Built in 1910, this engine served on Canadian National for almost 50 years before coming to Strasburg. Because of her smaller size, she puts on quite a show coming up the hill midway through the route! I hope you enjoy this video, and ...

Hello everyone and welcome back! Today @MidnightRailfan @jackboy317 and I are at the Strasburg Railroad yet again, to watch engine number 90 pull the Santa trains! Awesome video and enjoyed watching once again. Have a great rest of your evening. Steve
I am going to uses this chase route this winter but just out of curiosity how hard was it to keep up with the train? Did you almost miss it at any spots or have a good chunk of time?
Train versus excavator wow
No.3s rechange is really different!😮
This is a beautiful video. I especially like the opening scenes in the mist!
Enjoyed watching and cool video indeed. Have a great upcoming weekend. Steve
In the end, TVRM is just good, they know what they’re doing.
Garcia Cynthia Allen Betty Young Charles
Absolutely superb video! One of the best on the LIRR I've seen yet.
You know this does remind of 2021 sodor fallout where Toby committed suicide after his firebox was possessed and was telling him it was his fault
GREAT shot on that Bridge.😊
2:23 I don't know who to feel bad for at the crossbuck. The dude with the camera got his shot ruined, the dog was scared and may have hearing damage, and other two guys have nothing to do with it and just want to see the train. Imo owner is to blame, don't bring your dog to see trains, or at least not that close. They are probably more scared than anything, and more importantly, you're in the photo line. Don't bring a dog right next to a tripod, and if you're a videographer, don't set up near dogs. Excellent videos by the way!
I wish it would come to the East Coast
Nice video great job can’t wait to see it coming to Texas
Farewell indeed
That echo is enthralling, and the rhythm of the engine is just hypnotic.
This is amazing! I love trains!
This is amazing! Keep it up!

Dang that thing is gnarly
Awesome!! Thanks for sharing!!
It was amazing to see so many people who come from all over to watch a piece of America in such a disgusting time that was caused by democrats
@@kerrygibson602 glad you enjoyed! yes it is good to see people united, but it’s the truth that the world has issues, and the best thing to do is focus on the positives. Thats why we go out to see trains!
Oh good lord, it's a locomotive video, keep your idiotic political takes out of it and just enjoy.
Awesome video! Always a pleasure chasing with you! Here's hoping for another mainline run next year
@@MidnightRailfan same to you man! Thanks for driving too. We gotta get an 844 chase sometime soon!
That engine sure lives up to its name! Great job Jacob!
Awesome machine, uses 2000 gallons of water or more a day. 8 tons of water.
Thanks all!
Magnificent catches of the Big Boy 4014 steam locomotive coming by and pass, I like it 5 stars. Thumbs up. Hearing that amazing puffing and chuffing sound and cars coming through is absolutely crazy. Keep up the perfect work, my friend, I just liked and subscribed your channel, Greetings from Portugal to the USA.
Thanks so much for your comment! It is an amazing sight indeed. Not gonna lie, it’s a little prideful to see the big boy be known all over the world!

Sweet video! Keep it up!
Super sweet video our friend, we missed this year ugh! It has been a few years! (Dave).
Sweet train! Keep up the good vids!
Awesome video.
FYI this is not narrow gauge, narrow gauge is what you see at EBT
Headed out to Ohio in a couple of months. Is Bellevue fairly safe to railfan?
Interesting how some of these symbols no longer exist or have been changed. I've personally never seen Q509 or Q203.
Yeah, that's how I felt when all the Q's got switched to I's and M's. It was a little confusing
@@YellowNoseProductions I didn't start learning about them until mid 2023.. Lol. I only know M209, I141/42, I171, and I192 by heart. We usually come to Deshler for Christmas and I always loved going out to the park to watch a few trains and also come just for the trains. Now my favorite spots to go is Fostoria and Bryan. Ever since they put up that shack in front of the diamond and the gravel pile to the far right, I just cannot get anymore good angles, have not been going as much since.. My guess for the symbol change is for more organization and efficiency, it'd take less time figuring out what kind of train it is. I'm no expert anyways.
I can’t say I’ve ever seen her go that fast on the Local.
