Note on American tipping culture: The wage laws here are pretty shit, and while there's a minimum wage, it is 100% legal for employers to pay their employees less than minimum wage IF the worker receives tips (they're called tipped workers). As long as what the employee makes in tips makes up the difference between their wage and the minimum wage, this is legal. There are states where there's a minimum wage for tipped workers, but it's still less than the minimum wage for non-tipped work. Of course, because businesses want to make profits, almost all food service and cosmetic service (i.e. hair salon, nail salon, etc.) businesses will have a tipping option so they can legally pay their employees less. It's an unwritten sorta unspoken rule in America that tipping is required. And if you don't tip, you're an ass. Some places will automatically add gratuity to your final bill, which sounds like was the case for Jack's haircut. Though, without knowing the specific hair salon, it's hard to say if that place always adds gratuity or if the employee just does it for their customers. But it's not unheard of over here. Trust me, I hate our tipping culture. It's an outdated and exploitative system that puts part of the responsibility of paying the employees directly on the customer. I hate it, but I still tip because the workers serving me do depend on it.

I think Tommy Hilfiger is definetly an expensive brand. It’s not quite the level of something like Louis Vuitton but it’s surely not just a brand. It’s fancy but the subtle fancy if that makes sense like you can tell okay they have money but aren’t only see ing it in designer stuff.

If you’re travelling by yourself you gotta go somewhere with people who speak the language. You still find it weird not having anyone “normal” around you who knows the things you do and speaks the same way you do (it’s amazing how unintelligible a kiwi is to americans) but you get to experience some really cool connections. don’t give up on travelling by yourself, it can be a great experience when it works for you!

no joke i had a dream that I had to go alone to Italy for a random week and it was very confusing because my friends were there for a day but i don’t think for the next day and even though the dream cut off before the second day the mere thought of being alone scared me. Also on the plane to Italy Molly and Rue were there and it was a tiny tiny plane? I was so very confused but then I remembered I watched Tommys video and this and then it made sense
