Oxi Day 241028
OXI Day on the 28th October 1940 - by Dr Paul G. Paris
Up until that day, European countries were being taken over by the technologically powerful Nazi Germans with little resistance by the leaders of countries, for fear of not having their citizens killed. But that all changed with Greece. Being the smallest European nations, both Hitler and Mussolini did not anticipate the steadfastness of the Greeks. Mussolini notified Greece at 3:00am on 28th October 1940, that his army were moving into Greece to establish transport pathways to other countries to conquer, but Greece said “Oxi (NO)”.
Within hours, all the Greeks UNITED to fight off Mussolini and his army, unseen by any other country. The country of Greece defeated Mussolini’s army. Hitler, being embarrassed came into Greece with his army, and he tried to tame Greece, but the Greek Nation kept fighting them all the way. The Greek Nation delayed Hitler’s move to Russia, by months, having Hitlers army finally advance towards Russia … but in the middle of Winter. This ended up being the destruction of Hitlers army.
As a result of Greece’s National Unity, the Greeks inspired the rest of the world to fight back against Technologically advanced Nazi Germany. The actions of the Greek Nation on OXI Day cost the lives of 10% of the population, plus many more in injuries. The Greek Nation took on the fight for their country, their freedom and for Democracy.
I complied this video to commemorate our forefathers.
