How do you get a promissory note right after you open a business account everybody tell me in two years
Hi Joe. Thank you for your videos. I am just starting out. I have my truck and trailer and working on the DOT and MC and will be getting my CDL asap. I have my LLC set up. Just holding off on the insurance. The only unknown I have is securing a broker or guarantee loads. I would be willing to work for someone running loads and pay them .50+ a mile to insure loads. How would you suggest I move forward. Thank you so much sir
Just found your channel and totally appreciate your videos. You still running in Tx? I’m thinking of starting a hot shot company.
- I am but it's getting hard to find good paying loads. I'm considering closing the doors until after the winter months and pick back up on the other side. Best of luck starting your company. Hey, thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it.
How ya doing out there brother?
- Tough getting "Good" paying loads. I might close the doors until after the winter passes and pick back up on the other side, hopefully the rates pick up. Hey, thanks for dropping in. Stay safe!
I’m in Atlanta and I’m on the same fence as well. Parked two semi’s too.
@@TNDTRANSPORTATIONLLC - The market has got to change sometime. A lot has to do with the brokers not wanting to share the bag. I can't afford to haul cheap freight. I'll be paying for it in the end. Hey, stay safe out there and thanks for stopping by.

Im looking to start Hotshot driving soon. I have to get a truck and trailer to even get moving... Would you recommend running my own llc or just leasing onto another company?
Ok, ijo,58 so where do I go for a LLC and what is the cost for your services to help with going through the process of starting a hot shot business. I know I’ll need insurance, will insurance differ from one state to the next state ? I mean like if I start my hot shot business in texas with a texas address will insurance be the same cost , more or less if I give an Illinois or Ohio address?
Awesome video👍

Thanks for sharing, mine just did it today on my way to work and I had to park it tell after work. When I get off work I will jump on the highway and see if I can clear the message. Thanks

How do you get past the 65 ft overall length law . Tell me the secret !
@@BradDavis-d3d - Before I hit the road I was so concerned about everything and the 65ft overall length was one. I measured my truck and trailer so many times and in so many different ways that it was totally ridiculous. In the end I came in right at 65ft. depending on what measuring tool you use 😀. I’m a Non-CDL driver. I’m not sure what the CDL Hotshot operators’ requirements are, or how they work around it.
Ya it been a concern of mine also . And keep up the good work out there !

Sorry to say, but ur trailer is not the correct trailer for non cdl hotshot. U cannot used a tandem axle trailer for non cdl hotshot. Not hear to bash u but ur set up is not ready for non cdl hotshot.....change ur trailer
@@lyfeaboveallthings Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it. Also, thanks for the feedback. Let me address a couple of the statements that you’ve made. I’ll be the first to say that I don’t know it all, but, I’ve been out here for the past three years and have passed inspections. When in doubt I tend to search for answers on FMCSA’s website. (www.fmcsa.dot.gov) Now, how to determine if your setup is CDL or Non-CDL. What you have to consider is GVWR and GCWR are manufacturer designated weights, not the loaded weights from the bill of lading (BOL) or the scaled weight of the vehicle. GCWR is the sum of all GVWR's for each unit in a combination-unit motor vehicle and should be used when recording the weight of qualifying combination vehicles on crash reports. Why this is important: The use of GCWR to determine selection becomes especially important when vehicles that would NOT qualify by GVWR alone are involved in crashes when pulling a trailer. Often, the addition of the trailer's GVWR to that of the power unit establishes a GCWR within the qualifying range. Gross Combination Weight is used to qualify truck trailer combinations for inclusion in SAFETYNET. Also note that, Federal laws require a CDL when the GVWR is over 26,000 pounds. A CDL is also required per federal regulations if the GCWR exceeds 26,000 lbs. and the trailer GVWR of 10,000 lbs. or exceeds it. With respect to IFTA. The FMCSA has several requirements to determine if a carrier is required to participate in IFTA. One of the key components is that the vehicle has two axles and a gross vehicle weight of more than 26,000 pounds or 11,797 kilograms. Having said that, IFTA is primarily for commercial vehicles that travel across multiple jurisdictions, such as interstate or international carriers. But keep in mine, If your maximum operating gross weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds, there is no requirement to have an IFTA (International Fuel Tax Agreement) sticker or IRP (International Registration Plan) plates. Federal law controls maximum gross vehicle weights and axle loads on the Interstate System. Federal limits are 80,000 pounds gross vehicle weight, 20,000 pounds on a single axle, and 34,000 pounds on a tandem axle group. If you can direct me to the information that you are citing I will definitely love to read it. But at any rate, thanks for dropping by and thanks for leaving a comment.

Good evening Sir, i’ve recently started my Hot shot business I’ve enjoyed watching your videos very informative. Would love to visit with you outside of this platform. I’m currently sitting in Rutland Vermont finishing my 34 hour reset. Finding this video is quite timely as I’m relying on a dispatcher to find my loads and head back west. Would you be willing to chat with me in the next day or so?, If so, what medium would you like to use?
Thanks for reaching out, I'm happy to chat about anything related to hotshot trucking. I will reach out to you in the near future. Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it.
Looks like the nut loosened up & the bolt fell out. The nuts should be on the outside for quick easy inspection.
I was totally baffled because it was still a "New" trailer, hence, the warranty coverage. I'm just glad that I activated the warranty, even though it was at the last minute. The company "PJ Trailer" took care of everything! Hey, thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it.
Wanting to ask you, was truckstop good when you where still under your 18 months at the start.
Truckstop.com was very helpful when I first started and continues to be helpful even today. However, it's the brokers that you have to deal with when trying to book a load. Truckstop is just the platform that brings everyone together. I stayed with Truckstop because it wasn't expensive and I use their Factoring Services also. Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it.
- Sorry for the delay, I thought I had already responded to you. As far as the level of support, quality and rates of loads, and factoring service via TruckStop, I'll put it like this. The support was average to above average. The quality and rates of loads were based on the broker and the dismay, if any, should be directed to the broker. The factoring service was on par for me. I would deliver a load, send in my paperwork and within a few hours my money would be in the bank. Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it.
Hey Joe! My name is Todd. Looking to start in hot shot about 4 years from now when the company I work for shuts down. Just started my LLC and hope to age my company properly before I hit the road. Any advice you can give for a "pre start"?
Howzit Todd...... Thanks for stopping in, I really appreciate it. To answer your question, I would said keep doing what you are doing - checking out videos of Hotshot Owner/Operators and pick up pointers her and there. Pick and choose the information you collect, compare it with others in the business and go from there. Unfortunately there's no formal education for this specific field, but there's enough videos out there where you can get a good head start. Good luck!
Do ur research, your set up is wrong, I repeat ur set up is wrong. That's a CDL set up u running
Are u at least making any money?
@@gamble-y9r - good question, I’m paying the bills. I’ll definitely be glad when the rates go back up. It was better just a couple of years ago. Thanks for stopping by, much appreciated.
This is the new age trucking. Things won’t be exactly how they were 10yrs ago but it’s decent money. Have to learn how to manage your money better and live on what you can. Keep overhead low at home, don’t spend all your money and save as much as possible. Nothing in this industry is promising anymore.
