Same tyres as I've got on my Mustang Mach 1, lot's of reports say they're a handful when damp or wet, admittedly i don't use it in the rain, however i did take a trip yesterday from Rutland down south and although forecast said dry is was drizzling and had no problems with rear end traction.

It amazes me that people tune their very expensive cars to produce more power than the original engine components can cope with - and you can’t exactly blame McLaren, as the components they have used are fit to cope with the power generated by a stock tune 😮

2:04 is this from a lack of oil changes???

That power over 600bhp does break engine parts.. even the heavily engineered Mustangs break parts. And this car was dyno’d straight after build like a race car engine.

.78 is still really rich, I tune my hellcat to .82, it makes 1100 wheel. My can am utv race engine is 900cc, makes 600hp at 50 psi boost at .80 on e85. This engine in the bmw is impressive.

£40K for a new McLaren 720S engine to me is not that bad. I would go for that instead of rebuilding it.

I’m the owner of this car. Few things to clear up with people asking New rods are infinite performance rods rated to 1800 whp Previous tuner was M-engineering. Renowned world wide and a very expensive tune sold with engine safety parameters in place (obviously not…) No idea how the oil pump broke but probs best that it did so we caught the rods in the early stages of failure to avoid a REALLY big bill. Oil pump - mclaren problem Rods - tuning problem Mclaren quoted me £43k for a STOCK engine plus fitting which they didn’t quote. I think you’d be into £50k for a replacement. They then wouldn’t stand on their work because the tune and further modifications which are Decat downpipes Straight pipes Turbo inlets Air filters Job came in around half the price of a new engine. Again this is now an uprated engine and not a stock engine. 600 miles covered so far and It’s just had a service. Now running better than ever. Doesn’t put me off owning another McLaren. I’ll take the cost on the chin and enjoy this car for many years to come along with my 765LT Any questions feel free to ask

The main issue with the engines are the internals when tuning - if you’ve kept stock internal what’s stopping this engine bending a rod like last time?

How many miles... is it not under warranty...? The failure of that pump shaft... surely should immediately be taken care of by McLaren as it is a material failure and that component was not suitable for the job it was built for...! EDIT: Was it tuned and thus no warranty...? (Even though, that failure of the oil pump shaft should not be down to a tune...?) I like the video approach... and cool calm well explained approach... you got a new sub... look forward to the dyno runs.
