i already posted this on tiktok but here it is in full! as the title suggests this is the earthshock audio commentary from season 19 of doctor who, but just the bits that make me laugh :)
There's an extra on one if the blue-ray collections in which Sarah, Janet, and Peter go on a road trip. I've only seen bits of it, but it looks hilarious and I need to see the whole thing. The 4 of them together here are absolute chaos, and its wonderful. 😂
@@alyzu4755 omg I love the road trip, definitely watch it if you can! I’m actually 90% of the way thru editing the highlights myself but I’ve been travelling around that part of Europe myself for the last few months so haven’t got around to finishing it yet lol
what i learned today is that mr McGann has quite the sexy voice and i need to listen to the 8th Doctor audios now
@callisto5097 please do!! as someone who’s literally listened to over 85% of the eighth doctor audios I cannot recommend them highly enough.
@fifthdoctor once I finally manage to finish the New Who series I will start tackling the audios, just you wait (I'm at season 6 finale now! I'm a baby Whovian haha - also watched the movie for the fun of it, or otherwise I wouldn't be here haha, and thinking of starting Classic Who in the meantime maybe)

I'm a berk I know but this "wasn't classic Who shit" stuff sort of annoys me. Davison is the Shatner of Who now. Basically says we were all wankers!
@@jread3906 I don’t necessarily think the cast believe classic who is ‘shit’ (perhaps moffat does but that’s another story). I mean yeah they do spend a lot of the time recounting ‘dodgy’ effects, sets and plots (to the extent of saying the same thing every time and even then it’s mostly Janet for the 5th Doctor stories, although nothing against her) but they also spend plenty of time praising what they did right. I’m not sure if you’ve personally watched any of the commentaries in full but of course you’re going to get a lot of the ‘look how stupid this was’ in my videos because I’ve personally handpicked out all the times the cast made funny quips about it. honestly fair enough if you have actually sat through hours of these commentaries and you’ve come to that conclusion, but I think that but to call Davison the ‘Shatner of Who’ is a bit much. He’s still a fan favourite and obviously the cast and crew still generally love him to bits. I don’t think he’s perfect but hey none of us are lmao. I think he also appreciates fans as long as you’re not crazy. And if he wanted to distance himself from the show he certainly wouldn’t still be acting in it.
Where do you get the audio commentaries from?
@@na256 usually I have the DVDs with the audio commentaries and I just use handbrake and makemkv to convert them to mp4 (involves choosing the right audio track in handbrake etc.) A while ago I found torrents of a few stories that also had the audio commentary track but I don’t think they exist anymore? They were on internet archive and got taken down. The versions I come across on most sites don’t seem to have it 🤔 hope this helps!!

Paul McGann is my absolute favorite Doctor.
i remember going to a convention back in 2013 and even THEN Paul talked about how much he hated that wig. I remember him saying he wanted to burn it. it was an amazing convention, they had doctors 5-8, nick briggs, john leeson, janet fielding (she was in the panel with peter and they bickered the entire time) and I think one of the costume ladies (i forget her name).

The version I have is the bluray but I think this commentary is also on the special edition from like 2010 ish?

@@harrycarson6526 off the top of my head anything with the first 5th doctor tardis team is pretty funny (also planet of fire), also ones with david tennant and catherine tate (so fires of pompeii and journeys end). sometimes they are a bit repetitive because certain actors like to complain about the same stuff which is what I usually cut out but they are definitely worth a listen. I’ve heard the five doctors commentary with like carol ann ford, nicolas courtney etc is pretty good too.

Not gonna lie, the song in this movie by Pat Hodges made me sob. Not only personally hitting a cord. Also the fact we had so little time initially with both McGann and Ecclestons Doctors. It felt like a dream. It makes me think of the Neil Gaiman Episode "The Doctors' Wife" and (remembering the scanners the TARDIS has) It would make my heart ache at those thoughts that most of the logs with them are stuck in audio. Like Amnesia for a TARDIS.
Also, at 1:20 "They all have lots of hair." Christopher Eccleston, listening to this sometime in the future, probably: "Ex-fucking-cuse me?"
Ugh, Neil Gaiman. I was a semi-fan for a while (I did enjoy that episode he wrote), but knowing what I know now, I can never watch anything written by him ever again!!! 🤮
