Welcome to my Gardening and Cooking channel!
This channel is dedicated to growing your own food when you do not have a lot of space in your garden. I live in a city and in a cold climate. Therefore, trying to grow vegetables and leafy greens year round is a challenge. That is when i discover hydroponic. You do not need to have an outdoor garden in order to grow and harvest your own food. I want to change the general belief that you need to have a lot of land, work on soil garden and in the sun in order to enjoy gardening. For the people like me that live in an area that has a long and cold winter, we yearn for the spring to come in order to pick up the gardening tools. Wait no more! We can do gardening right now, indoor. Not only that, we can also eat the fruit of our labor by cooking healthy and delicious meals. I am excited to share with you all my journey with indoor gardening and explore what we can achieve together.

You have beautiful roses. I also love my Princess Alexandra of Kent. She's very thorny but I cant get rid of her because the flowers are just so beautiful. I'd like to ask what kind of plants are the bluish lavender flowers behind your Summer Romance Roses. I am looking for companion plants and they look very nice with the pink flowers.
You gave a very comprehensive and helpful presentation.
Beautiful ❤❤
Thank you lan for sharing your garden beauty. Can you share info on the arbor with bench in the garden. As well the black wrap wround planter that has little bubles/ spikes? Thank you
I bought the bench from amazon. This is the exact one i bought amzn.to/4ekhCRi
Your narrative in video is helpful so thank you for sharing.
Creeping Jenny in the ground is like Mints naughty little sister.
Mint is such a nightmare
wow, those roses are big
Your garden of rose hips is beautiful, I really like these varieties because they are very healthy
Hi. I’m new in your channel, all your roses so beautiful! I wonder how you take care of them? They are looking healthy
@@htggarden1401 I don't do much, except for feeding them with a balance organic fertilizer in the spring, then when they are about to develop bud, I use a different fertilizer for blooms. I rinse and repeat after each flush of flowers.
Very beautiful roses garden!
It's been a while since you've posted any videos at all. Welcome back. Beautiful roses!
@@MrX-zz2vk Thank you!
Excellent presentation
Please tell me how does the Abraham Darby smell?
It has fruity scent. It smells like lychee to me.
Following up on your no spray method. How did it go?
It's been good. With over 140 roses, I can't keep up with the spraying even if I want to. So, I'm happy that I decided not to spray anymore. In the spring, I bought green lacewing lavae, and it was effective in controlling aphids and thrips. I also see more ladybugs this year.
Other than the algae and mosquito larvae control, what are the day to day requirements to keep your plant healthy and growing?
@dawnhoff8720 you just need to clean up the dry, unhealthy leaves once in a while, keep filling up the water, feed the plant using the tablet fertilizer once a month during the summer. That's it. Lotus is so easy to keep.
Hi what’ size is your grows bag? 7 or 10 gallon?Thank u
@thuygee this one is 15 gallons, i think. I moved my tree to a 20-gallon grow bag.
@@plant4table Thank u
What a beautiful garden! You showed me a few roses I had been curious about, like Princess Charlene and Abraham Darby. I watch garden videos for inspiration and motivation, and this video hits every mark, showing the whole plant and not just the pretty flowers. Is that nepeta growing throughout your garden? It's a beautiful compliment to your roses. Love all of it! Thank you. 😊
@mangotango5704 thank you. As the time I filmed this video, I only had the nepata in the section that I showed you. As I expand my garden toward the lawn area this year, I'm planting them everywhere. They are so great.
This is exactly what I do for a fourth or less of the price and my results are amazing.....
@@captjoe7779 right? Buying directly from Gardyn makes no sense.
Where did you get or do I find the large container that it’s in? (Not the smaller pot)
Home Depot
Very cool❤
what is the purple flower that is planted around the roses?
Catmint. I bought from ProvenWinners.
Good video, but the music is a bit to loud, I think it should be barely audible or none at all when you are talking.
I want. To grow my Lotus seeds once they are tall enough n. A dirt solution in the bottom of a water bottle and I will have 10 or 12 bottled water bottles with dirt in the bottom. And water and one seed to a bottle. And then I will put them inside. My container my bowl and fill it with some water. This way, the mud and dirt stay inside the bottle and not inside the planter itself. Do the roots really need a lot of room? This is. A small variety. I am starting from seed. They're already about 3 inches tall and tomorrow. I imagine they will be above the water level. So I've been cutting down my bottles and making them about 5 inches tall. And then I will put about 4 inches of dirt in there and one seed to the dirt and then fill that with water. And put them all in this one pretty bowl that I can sit on the table. I'm going to be interested to know how you put these in your garage and winter them there. I do that with my amarillos and other plants that cannot take the freeze. I live in Utah in northern we do get cold winters. But I'm hoping that I will. Get. My 2 wheelers, at least to some stage where they'll whether the winter for next summer since I didn't get my seeds.Until a few days any help you can give me.I'd appreciate it.Thank you, and your video was excellent.Tie enjoyed that
@AvivaGowe-tf8vm I grow various types of lotus in containers, from mini to regular size. Even for the mini lotus, the roots expand rapidly and can cover the whole container after 2-3 years. I plan to divide up the tubers next spring and give it to my friends. I live in zone 7A, North Eastern PA, I did not bring my lotus container inside last winter, and they do fine this year. I used to bring the container inside the unheated garage. For a very cold climate, just bring them into the garage just to be on the safe side. What i did was draining/scooping some of the water out of the container to lessen the weight for transporting. Then, refill the water. I hope this helps.
@AvivaGowe-tf8vm one more thing, if you have your lotus tubers in a small container with soil inside the big water container, you can easily lift it up and bring into your garage. Just make sure that the pot is submerged into water while winterizing. Lotus need water at all time.
Thank you for the video! I had been considering the Gardyn and hadn't even heard of the iHarvest. I liked with the Gardyn how the roots were self-contained but I may now be reconsidering that after this video. I currently have the Aerogarden Farm Stand and hate how frequently I have to refill the water and completely agree on how small the reservoir is. The roots do get very tangled and grow into the pump system. I'm also not a fan on not being able to use all of the pod space if you grow peppers or tomatoes. That is why I was considering a switch. You also have to be very careful on what you plant together. If you plant two things at different max heights or if they germinate at different speeds the slower and/or lower plant may not thrive because your light might be too far away for that plant to germinate. Aerogarden suggests trimming the faster growing plant but in some cases that may not be the right thing for the plant. I do like their customer service, you can send an email and they replace just about everything including seed pods if they don't germinate.
Great content thank you ❤
Great video!! My ladybugs are in the mail right now, very exciting! ❤
Such beautiful flowers 💐
Those are not the American bread of red ady bugs. Those are Asian lady bugs. The American bread are almost extinct
Thanks
I have a small Silas Marner. Can’t wait till he grows up & gives me roses like yours. You are 100% right about Earth Angel & the heat. I am in 9b full sun. She has grown into a big girl But gives small roses & few at that. I am hoping fall will be better. Spring blooms were much better. Love this garden tour. Just subscribed.
@totallydomestic433 my EA does well this year. I have to post an update video on my garden for this year. I decided to leave my EA where it is since I'm in the cooller zone. But no roses perform well in the summer, regardless of the zone. We just have to grow something else for the summer display.
Your roses are beautiful 💗💗💗
Hi what alliums do you have planted towards the end of the video? 10:38
@babygirl2912 That's Globe Master. I like it the most among the alliums
Can you grow carrots in it?
@@dyloak6450 You can definitely grow radish hydroponically since it's round. I would not grow carrots, unless you pick the small, round variety of carrots.
Beautiful! What are the blue flowers along the walkway? Thanks! (The name of the variety?)
It's look like a forest at home. "Jumanji " 😂 I love it
Thank you Plant4Table!! Watching you clean out your iHarvest makes me motivated to clean out mine!!
The struggle is real indeed 😆
I am so glad to see that you are posting again! I just found your vlog over the winter after starting to use hydroponics and I have found your posts to be extremely informative! I also love your rose garden! Please keep posting!
Can I use top soil and sand? What nutrients do they need to fertilize? I have seeds I scratched, soaked , they are 3 days in soe. How long will it take to see flowers?
Top soil alone is okay. You can buy the lotus tabs to feed your plants. But only feed it once the leaves grow above the water. I have not successfully grown lotus from seeds, but I think it will take months or even a year to see flowers. I recommend growing from tubers.
Yay for spray free!
Poncirus trifoliate, winter hardy lemon tree which go till about -25 degrees Celsius. In Fahrenheit about -80 degrees Fahrenheit. Check out again because I am not so sure of the Fahrenheit degrees.😊
do you use only distilled water in your gardens?
I needed this. Thanks
Beautiful. I wonder how you keep thrips from this rose. Thrips love my Earth Angel they destroyed so.many blooms and buds. So sad!
I released some green lacewing larvae to control pests. Other than that, I don't spray anything. You can also set up traps for thrips.
What filament did you use for your covers? I've heard PETG is food safe, but that PLA can be somewhat soluble in water.
god bless you
Hi can you do a 2024 update video about your roses?
Yes, once the roses in my garden are at peak bloom, I will upload a video. It's probably some time this weekend.
Liên cho minh hoi trong DA roses ở Cali được khg? Minh ở SoCal hè rất nóng! Nếu trong DA roi se co repeats throughout summer khg? Hay hong se shut down? Muốn trồng lam nhưng so khg co repeats. Cho minh y kiến nhe! Cảm ơn Liên nhiều! Thanks for replying to my question concerning the catmint. ☺️
Hi Lien, Love the video and all the info. Really enjoyed looking at your garden. Could you pls tell me the name of the purple flower lining the walkway? R they catmint?
Yes, it is catmint called cat meow from Proven Winners
