Love this video and your honest reflections on your own art journey. It's really helpful to hear about it. I'm not really a niche person either. There are so many different types of beauty in this world, and I want to explore many. I think that's why I'm drawn to Spoonflower too. Looking forward to watching more of your videos :)
@@aricar325 thank you ♥️ I'm glad it resonated with you. Exactly - too many inspiring things to pass on!

Thank you for this video Darya. Ever since I was a teenager I’ve bounced from playing music to photography to cartooning to illustration to graphic design to massage therapy and so on. I’ve always thought something was wrong with me that I’ve never been able to settle on one thing or find my “niche”. This video helped to put this issue in perspective. Thank you

Thank you for such an informative video. @PatternTalentbyDaryaKarenski I feel much better now knowing that you, such a fabulous designer, was rejected by Patternbank. They were also very abrupt with me however I'm a mere beginner, self-taught, no formal qualifications or experience. But yooooou??? More fool them, their loss not yours I can assure you. I am really enjoying your videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge
Hello . Thanks I've just found Spoonflower. It's just the tube if platform I've been looking for. What software do you use to create your seamless patterns? Hiw are designers overcoming the challenge of AI 😢
@@gloriafrancis7621 I use both Photoshop and Illustrator and occasionally play with Procreate on iPad. I have a video about software for textile design: th-cam.com/video/4cAybAqfeEM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Q8xv-jUsm1LvHeAc As for AI, it is definitely frustrating but in my opinion the only thing I can do is keep creating designs in my style. They are still selling regularly. Perhaps AI makers sell more - but I have no control over it 😊 I also have a video about AI: th-cam.com/video/TSAQUQvnFX8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=vXOktwkiO9pHmRrX

@@bharti82 glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for your comment 🤗💫
Thank you, it was very informative. I think you mentioned that CMYK is used for printing on paper. Does that mean that there is no need to turn RGB designs into CMYK for Spoonflower?
@@cheekymonkey6573 that is correct! Fabric is generally printed in RGB and even wallpaper on Spoonflower is, too. Here's their blog post about it (point 2): blog.spoonflower.com/2019/02/15/5-tips-for-designing-on-spoonflower/
Do you rasterise your artwork to retain quality before printing a wallpaper?
@@daniaabbas2795 It is raster work from the start. I paint big, scan at 300-600 dpi and use selection tools without anti-alias when moving motifs to maintain high quality.
Your explanation is very clear and includes very minutes details. Thanks to you. I am following you for more.
I’m so glad it was helpful!
Lovely artworks Darya!!😊
@@acesarato thanks so much 😊♥️
I also favour gouache paints for all my artwork, glad to see they’re number one for pattern design too! My favourites are Winsor and Newton designer gouaches, they have beautiful hues and are super vivid and pigmented.

Love your shirt! Did you design it?
@@omaidk6630 thank you! No, I didn't 😊
Thank you so much for your insight. I am from a design and special effects from film and broadcast background , so much blah blah. However, your input is so valued, Photoshop and illustrator are very different tools which crossover, no comparison you explained that quite well. I am watching for the softwares you mention. My plan is four different areas they will expand of course. Fabrics , commercial art and stained glass and faux stained glass sticker (money maker). Some hints in there, a swap of knowledge. Thank you.
I love Cat. I watch her Skillshare courses. She’s one of the best teacher’s on there. I highly recommend her.
